• Hydrostatic, articulated steering, using double-acting cylinders, means a very short turning circle
and excellent control with minimum effort.
• True, integral, 4-wheel drive with equal size tires all around, for maximum traction in all
conditions.
• Designed to work in either direction - pushing or pulling. The operator's seat and console rotate
180 degrees to face the work. Attachments are designed and mounted to suit the operator's needs.
• Implements and attachments can be added at both ends. A PTO, a 3-point hitch, drawbar and
remotes are available at each end to power a multitude of attachments, either push or pull type.

1. FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE WITH ARTICULATED STEERING
• Slippage is minimized, for major gains in
effective horsepower and reduced tire
scuffing. The result is long tire life and less
fuel consumed.
• Equal-size tires and balanced weight
distribution provide better ultimate
drawbar pull than front-wheel assist on
traditional tractors, all other factors being
equal.

• A much smaller turning radius than that of
two-wheel-drive tractors, for reduced crop
damage at the ends of rows, improved
steering accuracy, faster turns, and better
maneuverability with the loader in
barnyards, corrals and feedlots.
• The rear tires track in the trail of the
leading tires so rolling resistance is
minimized and less fuel is consumed. The
front wheels firm up the soil to provide a
high-traction path for the rear wheels and
less overall soil compaction.

4. HYDROSTATIC TRANSMISSION COUPLED TO A THREE..
SPEED GEARBOX
• Selection of speeds is equal in either
direction, to make the tractor equally
versatile with cab or engine end forward.
• Infinitely variable speeds in draft, chore
and transport conditions. Because of the
three ranges, the hydrostatic transmission
can always run at peak efficiency.
• FIRST RANGE, 0 - 55 MPH: First
range is ideal for loading. The hydrostatic
system can be instantly changed from low-
speed forward for filling the bucket to fast
reverse when the bucket is fulL First range
also provides plenty of power for draft
work - the four-wheel drive will pull the
tractor through the tough spots when
plowing or discing.
• SECOND RANGE, 0 -7.7 MPH: Ideal
for pulling PTO-driven equipment. The
variable speeds of the hydrostat can be
used to maintain the perfea speed to
match optimum machine operation as field
and crop conditions change.
• THIRD RANGE, 0 - 18.0 MPH: The
transport range. The hydrostat is used to
vary travel speed in accordance with road
conditions.
• There is no dutch to slip or gears to shift
when working the bucket into packed or
frozen material - simply adjust the
hydrostat lever to the suitable position.
• Hydrostatic power losses are kept small
through the use of the range gearbox, and
more than offset by increased efficiency of
operating PTa machines and loaders at
their peak capacity.

SUCCESSFUL PROSPECTING
FOR SUCCESSFUL SALES
Because the model 9030 BidirectionaPM
tractor is an entirely new concept, it sells best
when it is actively promoted and
demonstrated. The highly versatile nature of
the machine will make it appeal to a wide
mix of prospects, but seeing is believing.
Dealers report good success with
demonstration programs, especially those
designed to bring a unit to each prospect
individually for "on-farm demonstrations".

One of the keys to selling the Model 9030 is
obtaining as much information as possible
from the prospect about his operation to be
able to recommend either a Bidirectional or a
traditional tractor to best suit his needs.
In drawbar work with ground-engaging
equipment, the performance of the Model
9030 compares with that of the Ford Model
7740 tractor. The Model 9030 Bidirectional
will best suit the customer's needs where
chore work, especially in inclement weather,
is an important part of the operation.
The Aiodel 9030, however, will also perform
a variety of other tasks around the farm - a
variety so broad that the only limit is the
operator's imagination.

Power for the Model 9030 is provided by a rugged,
4-cylinder, turbocharged, 268 cubic-inch-displacement
New HoHand diesel engine, which delivers 102 PTO
horsepower. New Holland engines have large displacement
for given horsepower, which means long Hfe, because they
pull hard, with minimal stress, without working hard.

Advanced metallurgy, casting techniques and cylinder-
honing methods permit New Holland to build sleeveless,
"parent-bore" engines that deliver long life. Cylinder
bores of many New Holland diesels have shown no
significant wear after an extended period of running at
rated speed. Parent-bore blocks offer these advantages:
• RIGIDITY: A thicker cylinder waH, compared to that
of a wet-sleeve designed engine with replaceable liners.
• EXTRA-STRONG HEAD-GASKET JOINT: The
gasket does not bridge the gap between the block and
the cylinder sleeve, but is pressed down evenly all
around the cylinders. Head gaskets last much longer as a
result.
• POTENTIAL LEAK POINTS ELIMINATED:
Because the parent-bore is solid iron, there are no
potential leak points -- no joints as at the tops and
bottoms of wet sleeves -- no O-ring seals to break down.
A leaking cylinder sleeve could allow coolant to mix into
the oil - disastrous for an engine.
• HEAT TRANSFER: Cylinder blocks are cast using
state-of-the-art methods, assuring consistent wall
thickness and uniform heat transfer.

Cross-flow heads and large-diameter valves insure that
New Holland diesel engines can breathe freely. Cross flow
means the intake manifold is on the opposite side of the
engine from the exhaust manifold, giving air 11 clear>
straight path into and out of the combustion chamber. The
ability to take in large quantities <;>f air easily and mix it
thoroughly with fuel, then exhaust frcely. is essential for
total fuel bum and maximum efficiency.
Large intake ports are formed in the shape of snail shells
inside, to start the air swirling before it gets to the
wmbustion chambers, where it continues to swirl during
fuel injecrion for optimum fuel/air mixing. This means
excellent combustion and efficiency. The tops of the
pistons are like Mexican which helps the
fuel/air mixture swirling inside the chambers during
combustion.
Designed to be turbocharged, the New Holland diesel uses
the energy of the exhaust-gas pressure to increase
performance and efficiencY. Cross-flow insures that the
turbocharger docs its job ~ell> by providing large inlets
and outlets for the turbocharged air. The New Holland
diesel uses a Garrett turbocharger. with proven reliability.
Spedally-designed compressor blades insure maximum air
charging, for optimum performance and economy.

EFFICIENT FUELING

The controlled-flow fuel-injection system provides precise
control of fuel rates and injection timing. The system
consists of injection pumps which are flow-matched to
engine characteristics and injectors with orifices which are
machined to very dose tolerances. The result is a uniform
fuel-spray pattern at exactly the right momem to maintain
bum time at 3 milliseconds, for optimum combustion
efficiency.

end frame. Fuel capacity is 45 gal. The tanks are fined
through a finer (arrow) located at the cab door. Filler
height is approximately three feet from level for

An ether cold-start kit (arrow) is standard equipment. It
sprays ether into the air intake when a button in the cab is
pushed while the engine is cranking, for quick, positive,
cold-weather starts. A thermal switch prevents ether
injection when the engine is warm.
Two engine-coolant heaters and a hydraulic-tank heater
are also standard equipmenL The coolant heater should be
used in temperatures below 0 degrees F. Together with the
standard ether cold starting aid, you can be assured of
starting in the coldest weather.

HYDROSTATIC TRANSMISSIONS ARE FAR MORE FUEL EFFICIENT THAN MOST
PEOPLE BELIEVE, ESPECIALLY IN CHORE OPERATIONS.
For most "real-life" chore operations involving a
combination of drawbar aod PTO horsepower, the 9030
Bidirectional has a clear advaotage, Most importaotiy, the
horsepower-hours per gallon rating does not express the
true amount of work which a bidirectional cao produce per
gallon of fuel, because it does not take into account:
• Optimum Visibility of Implement and the Job
• Ability to Vary Ground Speed with the Hydrostat to
Operate Equipment at its Absolute Peak Capacity
• Superior Maoeuverability
• Effortless Shuttling without Time-Robbing Gear
• Excellent AIl-Weather Traction with Four-Wheel Drive

DEPENDABLE DRIVETRAIN (Contd)
A hydrostatic transmission, combined with a gearbox; was
chosen because many applications require variable speed
and quick, convenient direction change.
A variable-displacement, axial-piston pump (arrow, below)
operates with a fiXed-displacement motor (arrow, above) of
similar design. The output torque from the hydrostatic
motor is fed into a three-range, mechanical transmission.

HYDROSTATIC DRIVE IS EASY TO OPERATE,
AND IS EASY ON THE WHOLE TRACTOR:
• It eliminates the need to stop, dutch and select another
gear for a particular pulling situation. The most efficient
engine speed can be maintained at any ground
.. Hydrostatic drive is extremely simple and trouble-free.
• All of the power and driving thrust normally absorbed
by the dutch, transmission shafts, and gears is
cushioned by oil in the hydrostatic drive unit. There is
no dutch to slip or wear out.
The ability to vary transmission output allows the operator
to change speeds infinitely to match engine power exactly
to load eunditions. This power-matching capability allows
the operator to obtain maximum productivity from his
tractor. The single-lever control of the hydrostatic
transmission allows even inexperienced operators to learn
to use the tractor quickly. It also provides a smooth,
eunveniem forward/reverse shuttle. The use of a servo
control system allows minimum operator effort on the
euntrollever to vary transmlssion-output speed.

As the control iever is moved from the
speed of the transmission increases as the control lever is
moved further in either direction. In the same manner,
speed decreases as the control lever is moved toward
neutral. When the control lever reaches its neutral
position, the transmission output stops. A neutral
lock prevents accidental movement of the tractor if the
lever is bumped and, by feel, warns the operator of
unintentional shifts forward to reverse or vice versa.

The system is protected by high-pressure relief valves
moumed on the fixed-displacemem mmor. Excess heat is
removed from the system by metering a constant flow of
oil through a cooler mounted in front of the radiator. Oil
entering the system is cleaned by a reservoir strainer and a
lO-micron suction filter.
The oil cooler is easily tilted forward by releasing a latch at
the top center. This provides good access to deno both the
cooler nod the radiator of debris. The cooler is held in the
forward position by a retaining cable on each side.
A matched, three-speed gearbox provides three rnoges,
allowing the hydrostatic transmission to operate at, or very
near, optimum efficiency. Speed rnoges supply maximum
power at the right speed, feedlot, field or road. Between
each gear is a neutral position that can be used to
disconnect the drivetrain for safety nod for towing
purposes. Sliding collars are used to engage the gears and
to ease ".......,'F.
Heavy-duty> double-reduction axles put power to the
ground. The first reduction is through hypoid differentials
with a 4.56: I ratio. Differential gears are bathed in oil to
reduce friction nod heat, for long, maintenance-free
service.

SPEED GEARBOX • Selection of speeds is equal in either direction, to make the tractor equally versatile with cab or engine end forward. • Infinitely variable speeds in draft, chore and transport conditions. Because of the three ranges, the hydrostatic transmission can always run at peak efficiency. • FIRST RANGE, 0 - 55 MPH: First range is ideal for loading. The hydrostatic system can be instantly changed from low- speed forward for filling the bucket to fast reverse when the bucket is fulL First range also provides plenty of power for draft work - the four-wheel drive will pull the tractor through the tough spots when plowing or discing. • SECOND RANGE, 0 -7.7 MPH: Ideal for pulling PTO-driven equipment. The variable speeds of the hydrostat can be used to maintain the perfea speed to match optimum machine operation as field and crop conditions change. • THIRD RANGE, 0 - 18.0 MPH: The transport range.   • 10. SUCCESSFUL PROSPECTING FOR SUCCESSFUL SALES Because the model 9030 BidirectionaPM tractor is an entirely new concept, it sells best when it is actively promoted and demonstrated. The highly versatile nature of the machine will make it appeal to a wide mix of prospects, but seeing is believing. New Holland engines have large displacement for given horsepower, which means long Hfe, because they pull hard, with minimal stress, without working hard. lo..1{} REVISED 3-95 Advanced metallurgy, casting techniques and cylinder- honing methods permit New Holland to build sleeveless, "parent-bore" engines that deliver long life. Cylinder bores of many New Holland diesels have shown no significant wear after an extended period of running at rated speed. Parent-bore blocks offer these advantages: • RIGIDITY: A thicker cylinder waH, compared to that of a wet-sleeve designed engine with replaceable liners. • EXTRA-STRONG HEAD-GASKET JOINT: The gasket does not bridge the gap between the block and the cylinder sleeve, but is pressed down evenly all around the cylinders. Head gaskets last much longer as a result. • POTENTIAL LEAK POINTS ELIMINATED: Because the parent-bore is solid iron, there are no potential leak points -- no joints as at the tops and bottoms of wet sleeves -- no O-ring seals to break down. A leaking cylinder sleeve could allow coolant to mix into the oil - disastrous for an engine. • HEAT TRANSFER: Cylinder blocks are cast using state-of-the-art methods, assuring consistent wall thickness and uniform heat transfer. Cross flow means the intake manifold is on the opposite side of the engine from the exhaust manifold, giving air 11 clear> straight path into and out of the combustion chamber. Large intake ports are formed in the shape of snail shells inside, to start the air swirling before it gets to the wmbustion chambers, where it continues to swirl during fuel injecrion for optimum fuel/air mixing. This means excellent combustion and efficiency. The tops of the pistons are like Mexican which helps the fuel/air mixture swirling inside the chambers during combustion. Designed to be turbocharged, the New Holland diesel uses the energy of the exhaust-gas pressure to increase performance and efficiencY. Cross-flow insures that the turbocharger docs its job ~ell> by providing large inlets and outlets for the turbocharged air.   • 14. DIESEL POWER (Contd.) EFFICIENT FUELING 8752<0 The controlled-flow fuel-injection system provides precise control of fuel rates and injection timing. The system consists of injection pumps which are flow-matched to engine characteristics and injectors with orifices which are machined to very dose tolerances. The result is a uniform fuel-spray pattern at exactly the right momem to maintain bum time at 3 milliseconds, for optimum combustion efficiency. saddle-mounted tanks are located inside the cab- end frame. Fuel capacity is 45 gal. The tanks are fined through a finer (arrow) located at the cab door. A variable-displacement, axial-piston pump (arrow, below) operates with a fiXed-displacement motor (arrow, above) of similar design. The output torque from the hydrostatic motor is fed into a three-range, mechanical transmission. 10-14 REVISED 3-95 HYDROSTATIC DRIVE IS EASY TO OPERATE, AND IS EASY ON THE WHOLE TRACTOR: • It eliminates the need to stop, dutch and select another gear for a particular pulling situation. The most efficient engine speed can be maintained at any ground .. Hydrostatic drive is extremely simple and trouble-free. • All of the power and driving thrust normally absorbed by the dutch, transmission shafts, and gears is cushioned by oil in the hydrostatic drive unit. There is no dutch to slip or wear out. The ability to vary transmission output allows the operator to change speeds infinitely to match engine power exactly to load eunditions. This power-matching capability allows the operator to obtain maximum productivity from his tractor. The single-lever control of the hydrostatic transmission allows even inexperienced operators to learn to use the tractor quickly. It also provides a smooth, eunveniem forward/reverse shuttle. The use of a servo control system allows minimum operator effort on the euntrollever to vary transmlssion-output speed. :'_13 As the control iever is moved from the speed of the transmission increases as the control lever is moved further in either direction. In the same manner, speed decreases as the control lever is moved toward neutral. When the control lever reaches its neutral position, the transmission output stops. A neutral lock prevents accidental movement of the tractor if the lever is bumped and, by feel, warns the operator of unintentional shifts forward to reverse or vice versa.

  • 18. The system is protected by high-pressure relief valves moumed on the fixed-displacemem mmor. Excess heat is removed from the system by metering a constant flow of oil through a cooler mounted in front of the radiator. Oil entering the system is cleaned by a reservoir strainer and a lO-micron suction filter. The oil cooler is easily tilted forward by releasing a latch at the top center. This provides good access to deno both the cooler nod the radiator of debris. The cooler is held in the forward position by a retaining cable on each side. A matched, three-speed gearbox provides three rnoges, allowing the hydrostatic transmission to operate at, or very near, optimum efficiency. Speed rnoges supply maximum power at the right speed, feedlot, field or road. Between each gear is a neutral position that can be used to disconnect the drivetrain for safety nod for towing purposes.
