2. The ’mărţişor’ (March trinket),a beautiful
tradition continued for centuries on the lands of our
country, is celebrated on the first day of March,
considered to be the first month of spring.
3. The „ mărţişor” (March trinket) beautiful tradition is also kept in other
neighbouring countries like Bulgaria, Albania and Macedonia. The
origins of this tradition are uncertain, but the first archaeological
evidences, proving the existence of the March Trinket, dates back to
the days of our Dacian ancestors, before the Roman conquest of our
ancestral lands.
The object was designed as an amulet tied with a cord woven of two
threads, one white (symbolizing divinity, health, purity of mind and
fulfillment) and one red (as a symbol of love for the eternal beauty of
life: friendship, loyalty and honor). In the folk tradition, the two
colours (white and red) that are intertwined in the cord that binds the
„martisor”-talisman represent the two basic seasons (winter and
summer), while spring and autumn are considered only passing
seasons.
4. Our high school has organised - We offer „mărţişoare” to
receive smiles- project. Every student had to offer different
types of handmade trinkets to women in the streets ,
regardless of skin colour , nationality or social class.

9. Our students have done a lot of work and in
return they received the beautiful smiles of our
fellow citizens. They bought a ray of spring
sun and warmth to chemists, managers,
teachers, mothers and grandmothers.
