This report summarizes hotspot activity and fire incidents in Indonesia between August 5-6, 2014. A total of 67 hotspots were detected over Sumatra and Kalimantan on August 5th, with the majority located in West Kalimantan (25), Central Kalimantan (10), North Sumatra (14), and Riau Province (9). Weather conditions including temperature, humidity and wind are provided for several locations. The report also outlines fire prevention and response efforts undertaken by the Indonesian government, including deploying personnel, conducting water bombings and implementing standard operating procedures.

For 5th of August, totally hotspots 67 over Sumatera and Kalimantan and more
decreased than yesterday. Hotspots still occurs on Kalimantan region such West
Kalimantan 25, Central Kalimantan 10, North Sumatera 14 and Riau province 9 (table
attached) sources from SIPONGI Satellite from Ministry of Forestry by NOAA-18. There
is smoke plumes on Riau.

· May 2014, the Government of Riau Province has formulated SOP to Handling of
Land and Forest Fires and Haze
· On 21 - June 24, 60 personnel of Mangala Agni conducting forest fire and land
fighters in Dumai and Siak, on June 23-24, 30 personnel Mangala Agni
conducting forest fire fighters in the Jungle Baling Wildlife Reserve in Indragiri
Hulu, as well as conduct patrol in the district of Bukit Batu, District Bengkalis, Riau
Province.
· on June 25: Post Command Activation Disaster Smoke in Lanud Roesmin

· on July 29: BNPB alerting helicopter MI-8 from Palangkaraya to Pontianak to
perform water bombing.
· July: in Riau, 100 Army personnel, 100 Air Force personnel and 500 police
personnel, personnel Mangala Agni, BPBDs, and volunteers to put out the fire.
Riau Police Mobile Brigade and Police deploy a water cannons in Indragiri due to
the limited water sources
· Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has brought the
helicopter to anticipated the spread of forest fires and land in West Kalimantan
and has been ordered to move the helicopter MI-8 from Palangkaraya to
Pontianak to perform a water bombing
· Air Task Force still continues to conducted a water bombing and weather
modification in the Riau region
