2. AND IT GOT “I’VE TO INTEND I IT!” FLAUNT Taylor O’Hara, the new teen rock sensation is certainly no shrinking violet. Oozing more self-confidence than you would expect for someone who just burst onto the rock scene at a mere seventeen years of age, she rocks into the studio over 90 minutes late for her interview. “Man, I had a rough night” is all she offers up by way of an explanation. Completely unknown as an artist 6 months ago, Taylor is the current favourite to sweep the Best New Artist award at next month’s MTV Awards. Her musical style has been likened to a young Cyndi Lauper but her attitude is all her own. Her first album Beats for Cheats was released last month and has been selling faster than any other new artist this decade. Her first single ‘Eat Dirt’ was the number one download on iTunes for the first 4 weeks. What remains to be seen is her staying power.
3. For my double page spread I chose to do an article on an upcoming rock star. I choose black, white and red as my main colours to echo a ‘rock’ feel. The star is overly confident and provocative so I have taken a photo and highlighted a quote to emphasize this. The quote is in bright red writing as it’s bold and slightly shocking to match the quote from the young star. I wanted to do the photo in the studio against a plain background so that the model really stands out. The lighting is quite soft in contrast to the harshness of the personality. The photo has a sexy feel to it and the model has exposed her cleavage. She is holding a stare at the camera to show her confidence and lack of fear or regret.
