2. What is communication?
Communication is "a process in which a
person or a few people, groups,
organizations, and communities create, and
use information in order to connect with the
environment and other people".
4. The essence of gaining attention is taking
care :
• Caring about what you have to say
• Caring Enough about your-self and others
to be assertive and prepare your
communication well
• Taking care of those you are addressing
5. Really wanting to be a first-rate communicator and
being willing to pay the price, is a great start. You have
to be ready with bad/good risk.
The bad risk :
• Attacked
• Challenged
• Ignored
• Mocked
The good risk :
• Congratulated
• Promoted
• Asked to follow
through
• Put in charge
7. • Your Audience
• Your Communication
• Rehearsal
• Your Audience – Again
• Yourself as Medium
• Knowing Yourself
• Liking Yourself
• Your Body / Yourself
• Making Your Entrance
• The Curtain Rises
8. Assertion
• Saying directly what you want, need or feel,
but not at the expense of other people.
• Behaving in a rational and adult way
• Being able to negotiate and reach workable
compromises.
• Insisting on being heard, even if you have to
keep repeating your message.
• Knowing you deserve respect and acting
accordingly.
9. Once you have attracted attention
you must maintain it.
Every letter we dispatch, every
memo we send, every communication
we make is an expression of who we
are.
And either who you are is important-
or it is not. When it is, then you will
get attention.
