Our Practice Aims Company Structure
The aim of our practise is to deliver a
space to enhance our clients requirements
which spaces viable for both now and
the future of dynamism and complexity.
As a practise we do not shy away from
taking risks to show that anything is
possible in architecture. Our vision is to
liberate architecture from its ordinary
standardised meanings and instead
develop a new innovative way forward
where we design an absence of harmony,
continuity or symmetry.
Our company is based on improving
human, agricultural and non-physical life,
we thrive to create function and spaces for
the people. Architecture that is reusable,
flexible and integratable with the way of
life from different projects. Each project
is a opportunity to enrich our knowledge
and give a deeper understanding of
how people live, together or separate.
We design with a team that is on site
throughout the project, this ensures we
have direct communication with the
client and the community of the space.
This creates a link direct link between
the design and functionality of the project
with the clients. This ensures the project
truly can give back to the community and
becomes an architecture for the people.
We believe in the strongest international
collaboration and we are very proud
to have a talented team of different
nationalities in our office where everyone
feels that they can bring something to the
table.

In my 5 years of architecture school and
work has given me a variety of skills
ranging in presentation, initial design
to BIM. My passion of architecture
started when I travelled the world, being
mentioned in The Sentinel newspaper
kept me motivated for my goal which is
to be a fully qualified architect. I have
multiple awards for my educational
achievement in school and awards for my
skill in model making.
The fact that Architecture revolves
around various aspects of society and
psychology has always sparked interest
in me to know more about the subject
itself. That interest has kept me going still
now for three and a half years, despite
the problems one might face in this area
of interest. My ability to multi-task and
my curiosity has helped me a lot in this
educational journey. I’ve gained a new set
of skills, which include project research,
practical presentation of a project, model
making. As I keep advancing towards my
graduation I keep learning new things
which helps me observe architecture from
a different perspective.
My ongoing three and a half year journey
with Architecture continues to excite me
in various nature. I have been fascinated
about the subject since I started observing
different architectural wonders around me
and the world. Through my educational
endeavour, I’ve acquired skills related to
design, model making and presentation.
However, I always believe learning has
no end when architecture is involved.
Henceforth, I thrive to heighten my skills
in several other genres of this field and
become as successful to explore and
achieve new mervels in architecture.
Aambitious student of 4th year from dept.
of Architecture, Shahjalal University
of Science & Technology, Sylhet. I
have tried to grow my skills of design,
illustration and presentation during these
4 years. Studying water colour paintings
and artworks, I came out with the passion
for Architecture. Though it is a tough
journey, but as a subject of passion, it
always help me to motivate my self to
walk through the journey. The wonders of
Architecture always amazed me and still,
I am trying to gather more qualities and
knowledge to become an architect of
those types of wonders.
I have been interesting in landscapes
since I always notice the little things in
landscapes. Whenever I’m on the bus
going to University, I like to just look
around and admire the surrounding
landscapes and every time I find a change
or two within the landscapes. With my
course landscape architecture I want to
create something that people or even one
person will remember me by. I have skills
in AutoCad, Photoshop, Indesign, etc.

The aim is to meet the basic needs of
all, regardless of socio-economical
background and especially of the world’s
poor, to give them a better life and a better
future. A blanket culture of sustainability
or one size fits all approach should be
avoided. The solution that will work in

the global West will not necessarily work
in the global South.
Haor is a unique seasonal wetland
ecosystem in the northeast area in
Bangladesh. Due to climate change,
seasonal flooding and economic influence,
the lives of local people gradually have
separated from the connection to the
water. Students from both universities will
be working together in groups to create a
new vision for the site within the village
of Kazigonj Bazar, located approx. 40km
southwest of Sylhet.
Project Introduction
• Kajirgonj village is one of the oldest
village in this area. The population of
1800 in 2018 is expected to gnow 10 3000
by 2030.
• The majority of the population earn their
livelihood by agriculture, small-scale
trading, foreign remittance s from UK .

The project site is located in Bangladesh,
in a small village called Kazigonj Bazar.
The city has doubled its population and is
in need of desperate urban development.
There are currently 3 main areas of living,
the village, the homeless housing and the
bazar. The village is where people live
who are wealthy and have a job. These
homes are much larger than the other
homes.
The homeless housing are made of
tin sheets and bamboo structures. The
living conditions are poor and are living
a unhealthy lifestyle with the shared
bathrooms, dirty water, rubbish all over
the place and are excluded from the rest
of the village area.
The bazar is located on the main road and
hasgreataccessfromothernearbyvillages.
The bazar has expanded by moving down
south and need to carefully considered to
be a successful development.
The future growth of the area’s are
disconnected leaving people to use
transport and living unsustainable. The
bazar’s are mainly developing along the
river and develop naturally toward the
villages.

Large Flooding Areas
In the future growth roughly the next
20/25 years the bazar areas need to
accommodate the increase of the villages
populations. Since the bazar’s can not
expand as this will create negative
areas for anti-social behaviour. Instead
there have to be secondary bazar’s that
compliment the large bazar which will
just have daily amenities such as water,
bread, simple foods and the large bazar
will have more variety and is within a
500M walk able distance.
This future proposal ensures that if the
villages and housing estates have the
minimal daily living amenities within
their 500M walk able distance they can
then travel longer to larger cities using
public transport which will need to be
improved.

Site Plan Of Kazigonj Bazar
For our chosen area we have picked the
Bazar. We think that as a team we have
great ideas and ambitions to make this
space a destination for this village and
other villages nearby. The bazar has great
opportunity to extend not only South
but also against the river. The bazar
Bazar Area Key
can become a space where people com
together not just for business but also for
leisure. A space where children can play
and adults shop.
The site has a few important buildings that
are used by people of the village on a daily

Nearly all housing areas are outside of
the Bazar area this means all people
need to travel a long distance and with
people using vehicles is creates a bad
environmental area.
The large circles represent the ideal walk
able distance from the villages to be able
to good their daily needs such as a school,
mosque, hospital, entertainment, food,
minimal shopping and much more. There
for we have added a series of smaller
complimentary bazar areas which will
allow the villages to have what they need
on a day to day basis. The purple path
shows the movement the villages to the
main bazar area.
The areas in light blue are future
development areas for the main bazar
to allow more residents from nearby
neighbourhoods to benefit from the bazar
areas. When implementing the 500M
walk able neighbourhoods it reduces the
amount of people from other villages to
only local villages.

Situated in front of a local mall in Nakorn
Ratchasima, some 250 km northeast of
Bangkok and gateway to the Northeastern
provinces of Thailand, the market offers
a diverse array of goods. The name
“Dadad” meaning “various or plentiful
” in Northeastern slang best captures
the essence of this temporary market,
serving as a gathering spot for locals and
youngsters alike.
In Thailand’s hot climate, after the sun
falls and heat fades, the streets come
alive with the colourfully lit tents and
food stalls of local merchants. The project
celebrates this spontaneous phenomenon,
creating floating structures of light in the
night-time cityscape.
While signalling and attracting customers
from a distance, the floating light-boxes
also showcase the eclectic merchandise
and movement underneath it. The
structure itself can be easily dismantled
and re-assembled. It consists of repetitive
pipe members and clamps similar to those
of typical scaffolding system. Simple
frames in a check-board layout create a
microcosm of little plazas and alleyways
accessible from many directions.

Chawk Bazaar is a well known bazaar in
Lalbagh, Old Dhaka. It dates back to the
Mughal period. Chowk Bazaar was one
of the most famous business and social
meeting centers of Dhaka in the Mughal
period. Even after 400 years it is still
famous as before. It is one of Dhaka’s old
town market and it formed in the place
where other old markets once were. King
Maan Singh protested for the country
on behalf of Mugal kingdom. In 1602
he transferred the head office in Bawal
to the present Central Prison and also

shopping as variety of goods is available

rickshaws, small cars and people walking
around during the day. Restaurants and
different types of shops also fill up the
densely populated part of the city. They
compete for space with the hundreds of
electrical, telephone and internet cables
that hang on to its narrow lanes, posing
another danger for the local people in
Chawkbazar. Here the permanent shops

the importance of Chawkbazar as a

popular though.

Chawk Bazar, Dhaka
Location: Old Dhaka, Ban-
gladesh
Year: 1602
Chawk Bazaar is a well known
bazaar in Lalbagh, Old Dhaka. It
dates back to the Mughal period.
Chowk Bazaar was one of the
most famous business and social
meeting centers of Dhaka in the
Mughal period. Even after 400
years it is still famous as before.
It is one of Dhaka's old town
market and it formed in the place
where other old markets once
were. King Maan Singh protested
for the country on behalf of Mugal
kingdom. In 1602 he transferred
the head office in Bawal to the
present Central Prison and also
the Mughal Durgo, that’s how
Chowk Bazaar formed.
It is a very good place for shop-
ping as variety of goods is avail-
able and they are sold at the

madan Chowk Bazaar is famous
for its Iftar items which include

The site has a slight slope of about 3/4
meters, with the large site this slope is not
very visable. The rain flow will impact
this immensely and has to be thought
about with the initial design. The site

Transport Infrastructure Existing Transport Infrastructure Proposed
The site has only a riksaw station, this is
not a actual station it is just a space that
overtime has been used to store these.
Many people use motorcycles to travel
to the bazar and back. Many also walk to
the bazar. The roads can be developed to
allow buses to travel through the area.
The settlement are disconnected with
public transport. There could be more
ricksaw stations and possibly bus/coach
stations. These will allow people to travel
more to the cities for work and food.
Water taxi’s can also be used to travel
through the canals to the bazar.

Business Structure Building Age
The main spine of the bazar has medium
to high business structures, however the
further more South and in the smaller mud
roads the businesses are less successful
due to the lack of access which means no
products are being sold.
It is clear that historically the bazar
settlement was started from the main road
because most of the old buildings located
there. The further down through the bazar
the settlements are more modern, however
there is no clear architectural style that
shows the modern and old.

Naturally the main spine of the bazar area
has high traffic and business opportunities
therefore the temporary shop holders have
decided to open up shop on that main
road, this has caused many issues over
the years such as transport, road access,
waste, and much more.
The whole bazar area is a extremely
unhealthy and poorly managed space,
there are no waste or recycle bins, people
use the streets for this and has created
extremely bad polluted hot spots which
have been ignored by the people and the

The site has a range of trees and grass, the
trees and grass are not well maintained
and are not aesthetically pleasing. There
are no vegetation of the bazar and make
the area not very welcoming.
The proposal for the trees would be to make
the journey through the bazar healthy and
comfortable. The trees will provide shade
for the shoppers and the seller. This would
take more space meaning the walking path
hastobeextended.Thetreesandvegetation

Project Concept
Re-joining the central spine to the main
arterial’s of the khazergoa village through
sustainable green infrastructure
The concept of the project is to create a
central spine using green infrastructure
which radiates through the arterial’s of
the surrounding areas improving the
aesthetics of the area. The trees in the
areas create green boulevards connecting
one street to another. The peoples cultural
development creates a unique style of
living which will be respected and build
upon ensuring the future of the Kazergou

Key Sustainable Themes
Decent work and economic growth Industry, innovation and infrastructure
Sustainable cities and neighbourhoods Clean water and sanitation Good health and well-being
Our interpretation Our interpretation
Our interpretation Our interpretation Our interpretation
The area doesn’t not have enough
opportunities to allow the full potential
of economic growth in the bazar area.
The use of affordable buildings can allow
more shop holders invents in the markets
in the bazar area, increasing the amount
of shop holders and shoppers in the bazar.
By increasing and amount infrastructure
in the Kazargaou village the design
needs to be sustainable to allow the area
and the people grow healthier and with
clean energy and not get consumed by
unsustainable elements. Recycling all
plastics in the area is also a must.
The infrastructure that does get build
needs to be though throughout it’s lifetime
of usage, this will allow the building be
used by a range of demographic. Not
all need to be building it is important to
design with landscaping on the whole site.
Clean water is a must in all areas of the
world, and has to be ensured that it is
available to the public consistently. With
the global pandemic which started in
2019 sanitation has to be part of design to
make sure villages are prepared as much
as large cities.
The area suffers severely from dirty
water, smelly dump area, and flooding
causing bad health. This has to be design
out of the new proposal to allow the area
in and around the bazar to be a pleasant
space to go through without having risk
of infection and disease.

Material Research Design Development
In Bangladesh, the establishments of
architecture materials owe their origin
to agriculture and the settlement in
this area dates back to the remote past.
Over time, indigenous architecture in
rural Bangladesh has evolved according
to regional topography, climate, and
availability of local resources. The
indigenous settlements are built largely
without formally trained professionals
and are built by local workers together
with household and community
members. Buildings are constructed on
a raised earth plinth. The raised earth
plinth is widespread in Bangladesh and
is a characteristic feature of indigenous
architecture. Pitched roofs and the gable
(dochala), and hipped (chochola) are the
main roofing characteristics. Mud walled
houses, thatched houses, tin-sheet houses,
and bamboo houses are common types
of houses found in different parts of the
country. Now materials like cement,
concrete, glass are also seen to be used in
villages but the amount of them are rare.

The construction of the local buildings
are built largely without formally trained
professionals and are built by local
workers together with household and
community members. Indigenous people
of this region have hereditarily been doing
this for years. Despite not being designed
by professional architects, the buildings
continued to accommodate and serve the
needs of the majority of the population,
which are well adapted to the local
environment and resources. The village
people use local materials like mud,
bamboo, thatch, brick and bring some
other materials like cement, concrete,
steel, glass from outside the village.
Usually they collect the materials from
the district cities. Recently Bangladesh
has started to make these materials in
factories so now they don’t need to import
materials anymore. Now a days the local
people are also getting used to these
modern materials in their locality.

Initial Concept Development
• Re- developing the pond and make it the
heart of the bazar
• Like may be a community space
recreating the traditional ‘pukur par’ of
Bengali tradition
• Replacing the use of polythenes with
Golden fiber bags and bio- degradable
bags
• We will develop a craftwork market in
the end point of the bazar and will try to
create some training zone on that market,
By this, we will be able to connect the
woman with the bazar and it will help
them to become a self depended woman,
and they will be trained to make some
craftworks. The golden fiber bags will be
made by them and we will use them to
replace the polythene bags in the bazar,
which will reduce the use and plastic
wastes of the bazar.
Golden Fiber Bags:
• Can be used for a long time
• Easy access of the material
• Reasonable price
• Environment friendly
• 100% Biodegradable
• Reusable
• Recyclable
• Cost-Effective
• Durable (Carry Heavy Weight Easily)
• Long Lasting
• Fashionable (Eye-Catching)

The main issue we are facing is trying to
understand the areas we can build upon.
The main bazar area is filled with private
land and is difficult to speculate how and
what they will give for us to develop.
During the design process we have looked
at all the issues and feedback received
from the clients and community and have
build upon those.
We have made sure that our proposal
includes all the requirements from the
brief and more.
We have included a list of what type of
materials are available to build with and
what materials the community are familiar
with and have access to.
We have mainly looked at how we can
be inclusive of the whole community
ensuring it is a safe and healthy place to
do shopping and enjoy your time in the
bazar area.
The pond area has oppertunity to become
to heart of the site and increase the usage
of the lower side of the bazar.

Initial Zoning of Site
The initial zoning has been created with
considerations of all feedback from the
community engagement and the brief
requirements. Creating walk able cities to
allow the villages be a sustainable village.
The increase of roads allow for a more
permeable access to the bazar and
surrounding area as many people use
short-cuts on the area.
The mix use retail remains in off the
central spine of the bazar and retail only
units are places along the main road
to create a high street, opportunities to
grow along side the Bhumin area and
the village. This allows the people stay
within the 500M rule of traveling. Some
central nodes have been thought about to
naturally navigate people through the site.
The range of facilities allows the bazar
have a nigh time life too reducing anti-
social activities on the bazar area. The use
of green corridors has been strongly used
to increase the green infrastructure of the
site.
Existing buildings will need to renovated
to allow for a sustainable living for this
existing tenants of the bazar area.

Moving them temporary shop holders to
a different location has fixed a number of
issues the community had on the existing
bazar. When we created these forms we
wanted it to be cheap so it is affordable
and still giving these shop owners a sense
of personalisation. The units can be made
larger or smaller giving all people equal
opportunity and flexibility. The large
green space acts as a hub and a meeting
point of the people which is surrounded
by outdoor and indoor seating areas.
Food makes people happy and is a way
of communication and having this feature
in the centre allows a sense of traditional
Bengali culture. The connection to the
water allows people to engage with some
traditional earth elements. The temporary
shop holders are surrounded by large
open green spaces which makes the space
visible and can attract a lot of income.
The connection to Bhumin and Village
settlements will also increase the income
of the shop owners.

The key issue on site are the existing
roads and the lack of connections to other
villages. Our initial steps are to widen the

From the new and existing roads we can
create a series of retail buildings that
have a high quality of permeability and

building frame.
To create a series of community
engagement through the design we have
created pockets of green spaces where
shop owners and the community can

Roof Structure
The roof is made of 3 main layers, the
roof finish which is topped with solar
panels, insulating screed with a exposed
metal frame. The solar panels will provide
constant electricity to light the new bazar
and create free electricity. The roof
structure allows for flexibility and can be
made larger if ever needed.
Building Structure
The building has a very simple 5 meter
by 3 meter layout. This is according
to the existing bazar. The shop owners
have opportunities to buy 2 units and
have a larger shop. This can then always
be reversed into 2 shops. The units
are build using locally sourced brick,
cement, and bamboo. The partial timber
/ concrete facade give the units a sense of
personalization rather than all units being
the exact same. The units are placed with
shelves and a shop owners unit.
Floor Structure
The floor is made of concrete, this makes
the space durable and gives thermal mass
to allow the space heat up during the night
time and stay cool in the summer. The
floor is raised by 150MM to remove water
flooding risks.

When creating the bazar we wanted to encourage
people to live in the bazar. This allows the bazar to
have life throughout the day and night. This gives
active surveillance especially with the high rise
buildings. The lower parts are to be retail units with a
gym and social spaces.
Final Proposal
Ground floor plan Typical upper level plan
The upper floors will have a range of flat units such as
homes for young people, large families, studio homes
and shared homes. This allows a lot of people to stay
in the bazar and grow their family rather than having
to move out when your family grows.,

The abundant building on the far South
side was never used for its purpose.
When we looked at the side we realised
that there is a lot of activities that the site
needs and can be places in that building.
Therefore we have added the workshops
as this will be a main new feature of
the bazar development. The building
has a brick envelope with large Bengali
traditional window openings that are
internal balconies. The building includes
of large mix used rooms.

so that those walls never create a dead
space for the other shops. In the zoning,
we have created a 4:1 module for the shop
layout to distribute the space for storage
and display and cash counter. In the front
side, we have developed a specific timber
made portion to highlight shop’s name and
type. In the left side, we have produced a
solid concrete wall which will help to put
signature for each shops so that shops will
be identified with the product list easily.
Moreover, developed display zone and
filled road construction with beautiful

enjoy the existing bazar.
This toolkit concept provides flexibility

neighbourhood, and types of the product.
Scalable as an infill solution, renovation

using various site types and a typical lot
size of the ratio 4:1, or a combination of
them. We have designed a potential unit
plan that differ according to shop types,
space occupancy and modified multi
storied formations. This toolkit isn’t
a standard shop “model,” but a kit of
parts—scalable and adaptable for use on
any combination of typical urban lots. It
is designed to modify the existing outlook
of the Kazir Gaon bazar and supportive

As a practise we do not shy away from taking risks to show that anything is possible in architecture. Our vision is to liberate architecture from its ordinary standardised meanings and instead develop a new innovative way forward where we design an absence of harmony, continuity or symmetry. Our company is based on improving human, agricultural and non-physical life, we thrive to create function and spaces for the people. Architecture that is reusable, flexible and integratable with the way of life from different projects. Each project is a opportunity to enrich our knowledge and give a deeper understanding of how people live, together or separate. We design with a team that is on site throughout the project, this ensures we have direct communication with the client and the community of the space. This creates a link direct link between the design and functionality of the project with the clients. This ensures the project truly can give back to the community and becomes an architecture for the people. We believe in the strongest international collaboration and we are very proud to have a talented team of different nationalities in our office where everyone feels that they can bring something to the table.

My passion of architecture started when I travelled the world, being mentioned in The Sentinel newspaper kept me motivated for my goal which is to be a fully qualified architect. I have multiple awards for my educational achievement in school and awards for my skill in model making. The fact that Architecture revolves around various aspects of society and psychology has always sparked interest in me to know more about the subject itself. That interest has kept me going still now for three and a half years, despite the problems one might face in this area of interest. My ability to multi-task and my curiosity has helped me a lot in this educational journey. I’ve gained a new set of skills, which include project research, practical presentation of a project, model making. As I keep advancing towards my graduation I keep learning new things which helps me observe architecture from a different perspective. My ongoing three and a half year journey with Architecture continues to excite me in various nature. I have been fascinated about the subject since I started observing different architectural wonders around me and the world. Through my educational endeavour, I’ve acquired skills related to design, model making and presentation. However, I always believe learning has no end when architecture is involved. Henceforth, I thrive to heighten my skills in several other genres of this field and become as successful to explore and achieve new mervels in architecture. Aambitious student of 4th year from dept. of Architecture, Shahjalal University of Science & Technology, Sylhet. I have tried to grow my skills of design, illustration and presentation during these 4 years. Studying water colour paintings and artworks, I came out with the passion for Architecture. Though it is a tough journey, but as a subject of passion, it always help me to motivate my self to walk through the journey. The wonders of Architecture always amazed me and still, I am trying to gather more qualities and knowledge to become an architect of those types of wonders. I have been interesting in landscapes since I always notice the little things in landscapes. Whenever I’m on the bus going to University, I like to just look around and admire the surrounding landscapes and every time I find a change or two within the landscapes. With my course landscape architecture I want to create something that people or even one person will remember me by. I have skills in AutoCad, Photoshop, Indesign, etc. Company Structure

A blanket culture of sustainability or one size fits all approach should be avoided. The solution that will work in Kazingonj Village and surroundings • Kazingonj Bazar ‘ is an old rural commercial center serving nearby eight villages for the last 80 years. Providing a focal point of rural communication. Project Brief Project Clients the global West will not necessarily work in the global South. Haor is a unique seasonal wetland ecosystem in the northeast area in Bangladesh. Due to climate change, seasonal flooding and economic influence, the lives of local people gradually have separated from the connection to the water. Students from both universities will be working together in groups to create a new vision for the site within the village of Kazigonj Bazar, located approx. 40km southwest of Sylhet. Project Introduction • Kajirgonj village is one of the oldest village in this area. The city has doubled its population and is in need of desperate urban development. There are currently 3 main areas of living, the village, the homeless housing and the bazar. The village is where people live who are wealthy and have a job. These homes are much larger than the other homes. The homeless housing are made of tin sheets and bamboo structures. The living conditions are poor and are living a unhealthy lifestyle with the shared bathrooms, dirty water, rubbish all over the place and are excluded from the rest of the village area. The bazar is located on the main road and hasgreataccessfromothernearbyvillages. The bazar has expanded by moving down south and need to carefully considered to be a successful development. The future growth of the area’s are disconnected leaving people to use transport and living unsustainable. The bazar’s are mainly developing along the river and develop naturally toward the villages. Since the bazar’s can not expand as this will create negative areas for anti-social behaviour. Instead there have to be secondary bazar’s that compliment the large bazar which will just have daily amenities such as water, bread, simple foods and the large bazar will have more variety and is within a 500M walk able distance. This future proposal ensures that if the villages and housing estates have the minimal daily living amenities within their 500M walk able distance they can then travel longer to larger cities using public transport which will need to be improved. We think that as a team we have great ideas and ambitions to make this space a destination for this village and other villages nearby. The bazar has great opportunity to extend not only South but also against the river. The bazar Bazar Area Key can become a space where people com together not just for business but also for leisure. The large circles represent the ideal walk able distance from the villages to be able to good their daily needs such as a school, mosque, hospital, entertainment, food, minimal shopping and much more. There for we have added a series of smaller complimentary bazar areas which will allow the villages to have what they need on a day to day basis. The purple path shows the movement the villages to the main bazar area. The areas in light blue are future development areas for the main bazar to allow more residents from nearby neighbourhoods to benefit from the bazar areas. The name “Dadad” meaning “various or plentiful ” in Northeastern slang best captures the essence of this temporary market, serving as a gathering spot for locals and youngsters alike. In Thailand’s hot climate, after the sun falls and heat fades, the streets come alive with the colourfully lit tents and food stalls of local merchants. The project celebrates this spontaneous phenomenon, creating floating structures of light in the night-time cityscape. While signalling and attracting customers from a distance, the floating light-boxes also showcase the eclectic merchandise and movement underneath it. The structure itself can be easily dismantled and re-assembled. It consists of repetitive pipe members and clamps similar to those of typical scaffolding system. Simple frames in a check-board layout create a microcosm of little plazas and alleyways accessible from many directions. The use of affordable buildings can allow more shop holders invents in the markets in the bazar area, increasing the amount of shop holders and shoppers in the bazar. By increasing and amount infrastructure in the Kazargaou village the design needs to be sustainable to allow the area and the people grow healthier and with clean energy and not get consumed by unsustainable elements. Recycling all plastics in the area is also a must. The infrastructure that does get build needs to be though throughout it’s lifetime of usage, this will allow the building be used by a range of demographic. Not all need to be building it is important to design with landscaping on the whole site. Clean water is a must in all areas of the world, and has to be ensured that it is available to the public consistently. With the global pandemic which started in 2019 sanitation has to be part of design to make sure villages are prepared as much as large cities. The area suffers severely from dirty water, smelly dump area, and flooding causing bad health. This has to be design out of the new proposal to allow the area in and around the bazar to be a pleasant space to go through without having risk of infection and disease. Main road through bazar

Over time, indigenous architecture in rural Bangladesh has evolved according to regional topography, climate, and availability of local resources. The indigenous settlements are built largely without formally trained professionals and are built by local workers together with household and community members. Buildings are constructed on a raised earth plinth. The raised earth plinth is widespread in Bangladesh and is a characteristic feature of indigenous architecture. Pitched roofs and the gable (dochala), and hipped (chochola) are the main roofing characteristics. Mud walled houses, thatched houses, tin-sheet houses, and bamboo houses are common types of houses found in different parts of the country. Now materials like cement, concrete, glass are also seen to be used in villages but the amount of them are rare. © Anadaloy Centre - Bamboo, Mud Concrete Flush Mud Red Brick Timber Concrete Textured Steel Bamboo © Teach Bangladesh Office - Brick, Steel sheet © Community Sewing Workshop - Bamboo, Brick © Auroville Design Consultant - Concrete, Bricks

Indigenous people of this region have hereditarily been doing this for years. Despite not being designed by professional architects, the buildings continued to accommodate and serve the needs of the majority of the population, which are well adapted to the local environment and resources. The village people use local materials like mud, bamboo, thatch, brick and bring some other materials like cement, concrete, steel, glass from outside the village. Usually they collect the materials from the district cities. Recently Bangladesh has started to make these materials in factories so now they don’t need to import materials anymore. The golden fiber bags will be made by them and we will use them to replace the polythene bags in the bazar, which will reduce the use and plastic wastes of the bazar. Golden Fiber Bags: • Can be used for a long time • Easy access of the material • Reasonable price • Environment friendly • 100% Biodegradable • Reusable • Recyclable • Cost-Effective • Durable (Carry Heavy Weight Easily) • Long Lasting • Fashionable (Eye-Catching) Scientist Mubarak Ahmad Khan holds one of the jute-based ‘Sonali’ bags he invented as a replacement for plastic bags, in his office in Dhaka, Bangladesh, March 13, 2019. The main bazar area is filled with private land and is difficult to speculate how and what they will give for us to develop. During the design process we have looked at all the issues and feedback received from the clients and community and have build upon those. We have made sure that our proposal includes all the requirements from the brief and more. We have included a list of what type of materials are available to build with and what materials the community are familiar with and have access to. We have mainly looked at how we can be inclusive of the whole community ensuring it is a safe and healthy place to do shopping and enjoy your time in the bazar area. The pond area has oppertunity to become to heart of the site and increase the usage of the lower side of the bazar.

Creating walk able cities to allow the villages be a sustainable village. The increase of roads allow for a more permeable access to the bazar and surrounding area as many people use short-cuts on the area. The mix use retail remains in off the central spine of the bazar and retail only units are places along the main road to create a high street, opportunities to grow along side the Bhumin area and the village. This allows the people stay within the 500M rule of traveling. Some central nodes have been thought about to naturally navigate people through the site. The range of facilities allows the bazar have a nigh time life too reducing anti- social activities on the bazar area. The use of green corridors has been strongly used to increase the green infrastructure of the site. Existing buildings will need to renovated to allow for a sustainable living for this existing tenants of the bazar area. When we created these forms we wanted it to be cheap so it is affordable and still giving these shop owners a sense of personalisation. The units can be made larger or smaller giving all people equal opportunity and flexibility. The large green space acts as a hub and a meeting point of the people which is surrounded by outdoor and indoor seating areas. Food makes people happy and is a way of communication and having this feature in the centre allows a sense of traditional Bengali culture. The connection to the water allows people to engage with some traditional earth elements. The temporary shop holders are surrounded by large open green spaces which makes the space visible and can attract a lot of income. The connection to Bhumin and Village settlements will also increase the income of the shop owners. Masterplan Development 10 20 30M

Our initial steps are to widen the existing main roads to allow people move more easily though the village and From the new and existing roads we can create a series of retail buildings that have a high quality of permeability and flexibility. The units are in a range of size and shapes that relate to the existing building frame. To create a series of community engagement through the design we have created pockets of green spaces where shop owners and the community can socialize.
