• A LAN is a collection of networking
equipment located geographically close
together.(single room, campus etc.).
• Data transfer in high speed which ranges
from 100 Mbps to gigabit
• Upper limit: 10 km ; lower limit: 1km.
• Twisted pair cable, co-axial cable use for
connection.
• Designed to share resources b/w PCs &
workstations such as hardware or data.

• A HAN, or home area network, is a
network connecting devices within a
home. These networks are a type of LAN.
All the devices inside the household,
including computers, smartphones, game
consoles, televisions, and home assistants
that are connected to the router are a part
of the HAN

connected together by twisted pair
or by a wireless network
• HAN facilitates the communication
