Physicians should have certain attributes and characteristics. They should also have a high standard of ethics. Such requirements are not new but our old Muslim physicians, hundreds of years ago have recommended that as well.

agreement of ancient scientist, Medicine is a divine science or close to it

Abu al-Hassan Bin Radwan bin Ali bin Jaafar an Egyptian Muslim scientist was born in Giza in the last
decade of the fourth century Hijra and died in the year 453 Hijria. his father was working as a baker. He
studied science and medicine and had a great reputation. He served the governor.

Ibn Ridwan said that doctor must be of many qualities, the doctor as in the
opinion of Hippocrates, should meet seven qualities:
1. To be full of creation, with no disabilities, good intelligence, good
vision, stable, good characteristics.
2. Has good clean clothing, good smell.
3. To be reticent to the secrets of patients do not reveal their illnesses.
4. His desire to treat patients is more than desire to seek money, and his
desire to treat the poor more than to treat the rich.
5. Keen to learn for the benefits of people.
6. To have a good heart, does not gaze in unnecessary private areas, has
sincere tone, Is not attracted by anything in the home of the patient
such as women, or money that he saw.

deadly drug nor teach it, nor prescribe medicine for abortion. Treat his
enemy in good faith, as he addresses his loved ones.
“Does not in any situation refrain from treating the poor or to contact
them, does not oppress patients or put force on them. Address them in
sweet speech. The examination of the patient was being done
according to a known procedure”

The doctor’s mastery of his job falls within the general instruction by the Prophet:
"‫يتقنه‬ ‫أن‬ ً‫ال‬‫عم‬ ‫أحدكم‬ ‫عمل‬ ‫إذا‬ ‫يحب‬ ‫هللا‬ َّ‫إن‬“
God loves when one of you do something that do it well. We understand from the words
of the Prophet peace be upon him
God Almighty has not sent down any disease without prescribing its healing.
Such talk encourages research to discover effective drugs. He urged the doctor to
increase their medical knowledge and mastery of their art.

Every philosopher is a doctor and every noble doctor is a
philosopher, however the philosopher is not able to
reform other than the soul while the doctor is able to
correct all the soul and body

Alrahba in 1064 AD entitled (thrill of the medical) (‫الطبي‬ ‫التشويق‬ ‫في‬ ). And the second in astronomy entitled (an
article in the thrill of education in the science of body) ( (‫الهيئة‬ ‫علم‬ ‫في‬ ‫التعليمي‬ ‫التشويق‬ ‫في‬ ‫مقالة‬ written in 1063 AD.

The doctor is the one who has all the characteristics
such as;
Science of medicine, science of nature and sciences
religion.
Good character, attitude and manners.
And those who are is good in profession but miss any
of the above character is not a doctor but Muttabab.
And if he calls himself as a doctor is a layer.
