Good personal trainers should show their
expertise and dedication from the very first day.
If trainers want clients to succeed, they need to
know their clientsโ athletic background, fitness
level, and health status.
3. This allows trainers to choose the right place to
start for each individual client. A good trainer
then starts by asking the client to perform
assessment exercises in order to get a picture
of flexibility, strength, and general abilities.
A skilled and dedicated trainer then uses these
assessments to develop a comprehensive
training plan. The plan should include
progressive workouts and scheduled
assessments as well as built-in rest days that
follow the toughest workouts.
4. The client should be able to ask about this
plan and should also feel free to inquire
about the trainer's background. Good
trainers have formally studied the field and
are likely to have a formal certification from
the National Strength and Conditioning
Association (NSCA), the American College
of Sports Medicine (ACSM), or another
credentialing organization.
