The 2009 Psychosocial Working Conditions (PWC) survey indicated that around 16.7% of all working individuals thought their job was very or extremely stressful (Health and Safety Executive, 2010).
The Labour Force Survey in 2008/9 an estimated 1.2 million people were suffering from an illness they believe was caused or made worse by their current or most recent work (Health and Safety Executive, 2010).
Occupational stress will result in health problems, which can be shown both internally and externally through many signs and symptoms.  Physically, stress can increase: A person’s weight chronic and unexplained illness Heart Rate Blood Pressure Mental Disorders (New York State Public Employee Federation [NYSPEF], 2006)

  14. We are 35-55 year old BMC Software company employees! As you can see we are very excited about the WESAP program and the Health Belief Model that has directed the development of this amazing program!
  15. I do not believe I am at risk for a high stress lifestyle or secondary health issues related to stress.
  16. Okay, I live a high stress lifestyle, but it is not that bad, the medical complications will not hurt me.
  17. I am at risk of a high stress lifestyle and the health complications are bad! I must do something about it!
  18. Hey everyone! Look at all of these times provided to workout! They have eliminated any barriers we had to working out to reduce stress!
  19. I am very happy that my overall stress level will drop, I will have increased energy and my weight and Blood Pressure will decrease!
  20. We are ready. Teach us how to use exercise to reduce stress.
  21. With WESAP’s program we can reduce stress!
  22. Practicing workout helps me feel like I can make this health change!
  23. I feel confidence that I can reduce stress through working out!
