relating to community-based tourism
 To government:
 Fully implement …. The Policy on Community Involvement in Tourism
 Further encourage the participation of, consultation with and the inclusion of local
communities in tourism development
 To companies in the tourism sector: Ensure the participation of communities in tourism
development
 To civil society organisations: Conduct capacity building activities with civil society,
workers and communities
 To tourists: Respect local Myanmar culture and traditions, the environment, and
women’s and children’s rights
 To all: establish a platform for multistakeholder dialogue

 Regulatory reform e.g.
 ensuring that hotel and guesthouse licensing
rules do not prevent local communities from
entering the tourism business
 Implications of constitutional amendments to
Schedule 2 and 5 for tourism management by
states/regions
 Cross cutting responsible business issues e.g.
childrens rights, discrimination, indigenous peoples
