Educational Technology in
21st Century Education
Instruction should be student-centered
The days of lecturing teachers has passed,
though not entirely. While student-centered
learning is strongly encouraged in the 21st century,
this does not mean that the teacher can never give
a lecture again. Education is no longer about
listening to the teacher her talk and absorbing the
information. In order to contribute to society,
students will need to be able to acquire new
information as problem arise.
Education should be collaborative
Students must learn how to collaborative with
others. Society today has people collaborating across
the globe. Students should be encouraged to work
together to discover information, piece it together,
and construct meaning.
Learning should have context
Student-centered does not mean that the teacher
gives up all control of the classroom. While students
are encouraged to learn in different ways, the teacher
still provides guidance to the skills that need to be
acquired. The teacher can make a point of helping
students to understand how the skills they are
building can be applied in their lives

Integrating technology as a fundamental
building block into education three areas
Use technology comprehensively to develop
proficiency in 21st century skills.
Knowledge of core content in necessary, but no
longer sufficient, for success in a competitive world.
Use technology comprehensively to support
innovative teaching and learning.
To keep pace with a changing world, schools need
to offer more rigorous, relevant and engaging
opportunities for students to learn and apply their
knowledge and skills in meaningful ways.
Use technology comprehensively to create robust
education support systems.
To be effective in schools and classrooms,
teachers and administrators need training, tools and
proficiency in 21st century skills themselves.
Important Function of Educational Technology
Improvement of Teaching
Educational Technology analysis the process of
teaching thoroughly.
Analysis of the Teaching-Learning Process
Edtech aims at analyzing the process of teaching-
learning thoroughly.
Improvement of learning
Edtech analyss the process of learning and the
related theories.
 Enchancing Goals of Education
Edtech helps in enchancing the right objectives in the light
of the changed circumstances and changed environment.
 Training to Teachers
The changed type of environment with new
curriculum and new materials in to be handled by the
teachers.
 Development of Curriculum
Keeping in view the objectives of education, which
have been finalized by education technology
therafter,comes he question of developing right
curriculum.
Development of Teaching-Learning Materials
only right type of materials will able to modify him a
fit person for the society.
 Teaching-Learning Strategies
the strategy has to be the right one, which should
be according to the materials and is able to being
about effective learning.
 Development of Audio-Visual Aids
the software aids, hardware aids have to be used in
the present of teaching-learning environment.
Help in Overall Improvement
Educational Technology helps of education. It also
helps problem in the different areas of education. It
also helps in remedying the draw-backs.
 Identification of Needs of the Community
Educational Technology identifies the needs of the
community. It helps in providing equal education
opportunities to backward people, disadvantaged
students and deprived sections of the society.

  • 2. Instruction should be student-centered The days of lecturing teachers has passed, though not entirely. While student-centered learning is strongly encouraged in the 21st century, this does not mean that the teacher can never give a lecture again. Education is no longer about listening to the teacher her talk and absorbing the information. In order to contribute to society, students will need to be able to acquire new information as problem arise.
  • 3. Education should be collaborative Students must learn how to collaborative with others. Society today has people collaborating across the globe. Students should be encouraged to work together to discover information, piece it together, and construct meaning.
  • 4. Learning should have context Student-centered does not mean that the teacher gives up all control of the classroom. While students are encouraged to learn in different ways, the teacher still provides guidance to the skills that need to be acquired. The teacher can make a point of helping students to understand how the skills they are building can be applied in their lives
