The Baptist Student Union Building
Koinonia "Hey, you want to go to Koinonia," my friend Sarah asked. "Sure, I'll go." Questions filled my head as I headed toward the club's
gathering place. "What is Koinonia? Who is in it? Am I even welcomed to go?" "Yes, anyone is welcomed! Just come check it out. By the time it
is over, you will have a sense of what Koinonia is." As I approached the door, I prepared myself for what I would encounter beyond the door.
Walking into the bottom of the Baptist Student Union building, I noticed several familiar faces. "Welcome, I am so happy you are here," the vice
president exclaimed. I automatically felt in place, and took a seat at a table. Sarah Roberson, the vice president of Koinonia, sat next to me and asked

"Sarah, what are the benefits you got out of joining?' A smile came across her face as she replied, "I get to know other Christians and spend time in
fellowship. While I have been here, I have learned different ways to reach out to people and witness." As vice president, Sarah plans the singer
and speaker for each weekly meeting, and works by the side of the president to plan activities. By this time, the room became filled with girls who
took time to welcome me personally. After a few exchanges, the singers began to start. The song lifted the room's spirits, and everyone joined
along in singing. Looking around, I became so happy to see young women close to my age having fun worshipping Christ. Faces were covered in
smiles as the song ended. After the song was done, the president stood up and announced she would be the speaker. Sharing her personal testimony,
my nerves were struck with the influence she had experienced. Finishing her story, she closed us out in prayer. While walking out of the building, I
found myself walking the same path as a classmate who was also leaving. "What did you think of that, Taryn?" With a smile upon her face, she
looked up and said, "I just love how great it is to have that time to fellowship and have with God during a stressful week." Her answer summed up my
feelings perfectly. "Have you joined?" Not

The Leadership Practice Inventory That I Took At The...
The Leadership Practice Inventory that I took at the beginning of my Student Orientation Counselor or S.O.C. experience was eye opening. It teaches
and surveys people about five leadership skills these skills were further explained in The Student Leadership Challenge text by the authors James
Kouzes and Barry Posner (2014) the different practices of leadership were: Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable
Others to Act, and Encourage the Heart. These principles each have their own challenges and frustrations, and as a leader they have helped me realize
what I can improve on. Modeling the Way was one of my top two practices that I had ranked high on during the skills inventory, and its focus is on

This was a skill that focused on helping your followers know that you are proud of them and the contributions that they have either done or helped
you with. This was hard for me to remember to do in the moment, but during debriefing on orientation days it was nice to celebrate our
accomplishments or how people worked through hard situations. These debriefings brought everyone together and created a spirit of community,
which is one way the book focused in encouraging the Heart (Kouzes & Posner, 2014). Another skill that was something a truly focused on during the
summer was Enabling Others to Act. It was based on fostering collaboration and strengthening others (Kouzes & Posner, 2014). I found this was a
hard skill for me to work on because I like to do things my way. I worked through it by truly listening to others ideas, and the fact that I was a new
S.O.C. I wanted to learn as much as I could from the returning members of my team. My skit group created a strong bond of trust in each other to
get our work done in a timely manner. The last skill was Challenge the Process and this for me has always been a hard skill to get my self to do. This
has been my main focus this summer, and I continue to work on it to this day.
Challenge the Process focused on going outside the box of the organization or group your working with and experimenting with new ideas. It also
focused on searching for opportunities such as seizing the initiative (Kouzes &

Public Service Employees Union Strike: Positive And...
The strike is caused by the demands of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU). They demand job security, academic freedom, and
more full–time jobs at the 24 public colleges (Ghebreslassie). It hit five weeks from October 16 to November 21. The strike has a huge negative and
positive impacts on student's happiness.
First of all, the strike is going to be high pressure and a very stressful situation for students. This is because students worry about losing fall semester,
money, job opportunity after the strike. For example, after the third week, a lot of student concern about their assignments, exams, and their co–op
because students think the strike can cause the cancellation of the fall semester. In addition, if the semester will

Fork Union Military Academy: Student Analysis
I attend a military school and i have been a part of many leadership roles at Fork union Military Academy. One of my unique experiences was when
we were drilling my company to prepare for a parade. I am a day student which places us in our own platoon. In my day student platoon there were
no cadets with rank at the time which means we had no particular leader. This was the perfect opportunity for me to take charge and become the
temporary leader for the drill. I had no real experience with drilling besides the steps i have learned while being at FUMA for 2 years at that time. . I
drilled the cadets in front of the 120 cadets in my company. I did particularly well besides one mistake on a facing movement. Taking thisleadership

Attendance Officer Of The National Honor Society At Colton...
Supplemental Application: Elena Macias
1.Attendance officer of the National Honor Society at Colton High School is my closest affiliation with office experience. The duties of this position
were to keep an updated and organized file of attendance and volunteer hours completed of an estimated 100 students. I created a profile page for
every student within the club, which included their name, grade, attendance record, and volunteer service log. I then organized the files in a binder,
categorizing them by grade and arrange them in alphabetical order. I obtained this position for one year and was awarded a scholarship from the club
for my service.
2.Projects:
a.Microsoft Word: As a student at San Diego State University, I have used Microsoft Word to write all of my essays andhomework assignments. If a
certain homework assignment requires a specific format, I have been able to utilize Microsoft Word's multiple settings to construct my documents the
way I need to. Currently I can type an average of 50 words per minute. I have been using Microsoft Word for 8 years.
b.Microsoft Excel: I have needed to use Microsoft Excel for my ROP computer course in high school. The course, Geographical Informational

A Career As A Spanish Language Teacher
When I was younger I observed and experienced the Spanish culture and found such interest in expanding my education to later on pursue the career of
a Spanish Language Teacher. After researching the responsibilities, the work conditions, salary, the outlook, and future; a career as a spanish language
teacher would be interesting, and the perfect training would be at St. Mary's University at San Antonio. Tasks and responsibilities for this career are all
very different and must be done on a daily basis when getting the students to comprehend and understand the new teachings. Foreign Language
Teachers must make sure to interpret the terminology and translate it into the student's natural language to help them understand better in their
learning. They must also provide instruction in the literature and also in the history of the culture so that the students will be learning correctly.
Professors should also tests students frequently to see their progress so that they know exactly where they're at. These tests and other activities will
show the teacher if the students understand to read, write, and most importantly the overall understanding in the dialect. If the instructor sees that the
students may need a bit more of help with understanding, it is recommended that the students work in small groups so that other learners that have a
better understanding of the language can help the ones that don't really understand. Professors should also ensure students that they are in a

The Pros And Cons Of Independent Student Unions
The Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) has always been a hothouse for political debate arguing over the belief independent student unions, such as
Carleton University's Student Association (CUSA), are a better monetary expense since they can execute the same work for less.
Co–campaign Manager of the slate One Carleton, Kevin Mason, said he personally does not see the value of the Federation.
"I think they grossly mismanaged student's money," said Mason. "The only good work the CFS does is running minority right campaigns and while
we are spending thousands of dollars a year, we only get a small amount of materials back."
Mason said he thinks Carleton University could run the same campaigns and even do a better job through CUSA services ... Show more content on

"We are actually Local 1 and I think that sort of speaks to how far CUSA has come," said Masjedee. "I think there was a time where CUSA and
students at Carleton University really benefited from this federation, back when CUSA and its operations were a lot smaller."
While some Carleton members, like Masjedee and Mason, said they think CUSA can operate and provide the same level of quality and services to the
students without being a member of the Federation, others think it will generate a huge impact on other university members.
"The big impact might be a drop in the pond considering how many unions are members of the CFS. The impact is if we move our 400 thousand
dollars of student funding that goes to the CFS, that is 400 thousand dollars of less work they can do, whether that be lobbying or underground
campaigns," said Owens. "CUSA claims they can do [campaigns] themselves, while other smaller schools can't. We play a role in subsidizing these
services being provided to all universities in

The University Of New Jersey
Dear Dr. Tracy Perron & the Chair of Student Affairs,
I, Flora Ajayi, was dismissed from the Nursing program at The College of New Jersey due to my performance in Principles of Microbiology (BIO
144) and Anatomy & Physiology II (BIO 142 ), which are major Nursing prerequisites. I take responsibility for my academic progressions and
understand the consequences and rewards of the Academic realm. The study habits that allowed me to flourish in high school, for example, studying
class notes and reviewing a week before the exam, simply did not work in college. This forced me into a state of panic, which led me not to do well in
both science classes. Studying effectively in college is different than studying in high school due to the rigor of the course and my attempt to process
on a higher academic level. My inability to succeed in the sciences during my spring semester, despite my early success, has allowed for both personal
growth and self–reflection while repeating BIO 144 and BIO 142.
At the conclusion of both of my science classes, I would seek out a quiet study area and recall what I had learned in each lecture. The recollection of
events not only allows one to retain information in a short time, but allows one to see both their weaknesses and strengths. Instead of working on these
weaknesses, I would focus solely on my strengths, thinking that it was the most important information I needed to learn. This flawed reasoning is the
reason why I was close, but did not meet

The International Student Association ( Misa ) Lounge On...
When I initially found out that I was interviewing Josh for my one–to–one I wasn't too stoked on the idea. I was a bit worried that our session together
might not be as personal as I would like and that he would find it hard to open up because of our differences. I originally asked him to meet me at the
Minnesota International Student Association (MISA) lounge on the second floor of Coffman Union. MISA is a space specifically catered to
International students and multi–cultural students so I assumed it would be different from what Josh might be accustomed to. When Josh arrived at
the MISA lounge the room was occupied by a student group event, so I took him to the room right next door, the Asian Student Union lounge. By
the way Josh looked around the room, I could tell that he was a little uncomfortable by the "Asianess" of the room, so I asked him if he would rather
do the interview somewhere else. He replied back that he was fine with the space so we carried on with our 1 on 1.
To begin with, I asked Josh to tell me his story and share some significant moments in his life. It was a very vague question and I didn't expect much
contend from his answers. He began with the very nonspecific details about his childhood growing up in Woodbury, MN and how lived a very
"normal" life. He talked about how he participated in soccer, baseball and hockey and how sports kept him occupied while growing up. I felt that he
wasn't sharing much so I asked him the question again about a

have what it takes to be a leader and to have people look up to me. I feel that ever since I was a freshman I looked up to the previous leaders and saw
what they did for me to be able to be the person I am now. Lot of people always tell me I carry myself as a leader because I am very mindful of how I
do things and react to them. I never thought of myself that way I knew I had the potential but I needed just a little more development. As a leader now I

Junk Food Should Be Banned In Schools
Shannon Bowen
Professor Olga Ivanovic
English Composition 111
24 Sept 2017
A New Perspective In Brian Rosenthal's article "A ban on junk food may harm school funding." he gives a report on what came of the ban, which was
placed on different schools in Seattle. This ban was on junk food sold in school vending machines, "Permitting only milk, natural fruit juices, baked
chips, and granola bars to be sold–items that have proven to be unpopular–student governments have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenues,
leading to costly increases in fees for athletic and student activities and the cancellation of programs. Moreover, many students have turned to
convenience stores and gas stations off campus to buy junk food, which undermines the ban's mission to promote healthy eating. Given these
impacts, the Seattle school board may relax the ban." ("A Ban on Junk Food May Harm School Funding.") It seems that such a ban within schools
would be super beneficial when first stated "A ban on junk food". However when looking a little closer it seems to be more clear to society that there
are many ways that it can go wrong. For one, the items they have chosen to put in the vending machines in place of the junk food, is not healthy, it
shows that the government has it's own definition of healthy. Also if they are banning junk food are they being observant of what is being served in
cafeterias?, because any kind of processed food is not healthy. Another point of concern is how

student population and to educate the University of Utah campus about Afghans and their culture. This is carried out through events such as the annual
Nowruz Celebration. The Nowruz celebration is the celebration of the Afghan new year and brings Afghans and non–afghans alike for a night. Our
second annual Nowruz Celebration is on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 6:00PM to 10:30PM at the University of Utah Union Ballroom. ASU is

Resident Advisor Application Response Responses
Resident Advisor Application Responses
1.Why do you feel you would be a good fit for your preferred population?
Through my experiences at SAU thus far, I feel that I would be able to best serve the upperclassmen population as an RA. I have been a member of
the St. Ambrose Student Government Association for the past two years, serving as Freshmen Class President and Sophomore Class President. My
time on SGA has provided me with many opportunities to serve the entire student body, Freshmen through Seniors. In meetings, I have become

In terms of free time, I try to be a positive influence within my friend group; setting up movie nights, working out in the gym, going shopping, or
going out to eat. I find this to be very important when given any time of leadership responsibility.
Second, I have also learned the importance of the 'forgive and forget' mentality. Having practice every day, it is easy to get on each others nerves.
However, it is important to realize that every day is a new day. Before coming to a conclusion, it is crucial to listen to both sides and also take
emotions into consideration.
Lastly, I feel that it is very important to plan floor activities that provide students on the floor with opportunities to get to know each other. Through
these activities and new found relationships, I feel that it will help the residents to be more respectful, social, and cordial with one another. Bonding
opportunities create more of a 'family–feel' within the resident's hall, making the dorm experience one that everyone will enjoy.
3. From your perspective, what do you think are the three most important functions of a
Resident Advisor?
First and foremost, I think that it is most important for a Resident Advisor to be open and able to keep the peace within the resident's hall. Whether it be
dealing with roommate difficulties, confronting inappropriate behavior, or dealing with

The Student Union Development in 1960's and 1970's
In the 1960's the USA was benefiting from post war affluence. People had more money because their wages had increased. This meant that parents
were able to give their children "pocket–money". Children were then able to spend this money on the things that were available at the time. These
were things like going to the cinema. In the cinema they could see films made by Hollywood about daredevil young men living on the edge. The
films gave the impression it was good to live for the moment, "live fast, die young" This was just what happened to young film star James Dean, he
died while driving a very fast car. Films were becoming more adventurous. Sex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The parents of the fans often disagreed with the influence of Elvis in their children's lives because of his sexually fuelled performances. The Beach
Boys began recording music that appealed to teenagers at school. The Beatles, from England, burst into popularity with innovative rock music that
appealed to all ages.Bob Dylan was also another artist from the 1960's. In his songs he would sing about subjects like, nuclear war, racism and the
waging of war.
The 1960's was also a decade of social unrest, many people were not happy. Many people were campaigning for civil rights and many people were
also protesting against government policies. Many students were affected by the campaigning and so many of them joined in with the campaigns.
This began to start a lot of political activity within the country's colleges and universities. Students began to join groups; they were able to do this
because they had more freedom, for example, in 1967 the oral contraceptive pill became legal, this gave women to option on when they wanted to have
children. The students knew that they were going to be the next generation of the country and they wanted to change the way that things were at the
time. It was no surprise that by the mid 1960's a lot of the students were heavily involved in the protests.

Jaguar Student Activity Center Essay
The best place on campus is undoubtedly the Jaguar Student Activities Center or JSAC. Walking in from the hot, muggy air into the breezeway, a
plethora of things is going on at once: immediate relief from the heat because of the air conditioner, delicious smells wafting from the food court,
and student and/or faculty events. It is a great location to meet new people and experiment socially in a safe environment. Despite all the activity,
the JSAC is a relaxed space created for, and by students and it is a great space to spend time in between and after classes (JSAC). Unfortunately,
even though Augusta University has such a diverse student body, people tend to seek out those that are similar to them ethnically and culturally.
This can lead some to feel trapped in their social circles, lost in the crowd, or alone and uncomfortable in a new environment. Adrienne Rich
describes this feeling as "bumping my way against glassy panes... gathering myself up... then again taking off" (63). In this quote, Rich is
comparing herself to a bee that has been trapped within her house and is searching for an exit. She previously describes the trapped bee as "looking
for what it needs, just as I am, and, just like me, it has gotten trapped in a place where it cannot fulfill its own life" (63). Just as Rich feels trapped
within the confines of her limited view of feminism, some students feel trapped within their social circles and limited by perceived social boundaries.
However, the JSAC

Student Government At Houston Community
Four students voted in favor of changing the fundamental structure of student government at Houston Community College. The motion passed.
The amendments to HCC's United Student Council constitution is changing the student government system from Student Appointed Representatives
to a senator system akin to how the University of Houston's student government operates.
The change cuts out one layer of student government, and is intended to make student government officers more accountable and cooperative
district–wide.
"The only change that is happening is that we will no longer have Student Appointed Representatives," explained United Student Council President
Josue Rodriguez. Instead, students will directly elect their representatives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When transformation started, all student organizations became district–wide organizations, so technically HCC has had seven operational district–wide
student government organizations for the past two years. This change means that the student government at HCC will start operating more like a single
student government organization, not seven.
There were nine students and two student life advisors at the special United Student Council meeting on Wednesday, April 5 when the vote took place.
After some rewording of the amendments, five students voted: one abstained and four voted in favor. The three students present who were USC
executive officers could not vote. The meeting started late as they group waited for the last student to arrive so quorum could be met. The vote to
amend the USC Constitution took place after the group voted to suspend the normal parliamentary rules of order.
Although the meeting took place at their normal meeting room on the second floor of the HCC Administrative building at 3100 Main, it wasn't their
normal meeting day. It was changed from their usual Friday meeting day to a Wednesday for student government officers who were at a convention.
Those officers still didn't attend.
Only Central, Coleman and Southeast were represented at the meeting when the vote took place. To meet quorum, the United Student Council needed a

I Believe Vision And College Alumni Into Accelerating...
Introduction
I believe vision promotes and excels college alumni into accelerating career pathways that promote autonomy, innovation, and leadership expressed
independently and as a team. Fostering the next generation builds the framework for the assumptions relied upon to support the community needs for
career ready hires. In addition, vision aligns personal beliefs and career goals as a career services, director. I would articulate, steward, and promote
this vision to foster alignment with stakeholders – students, parents, and community leaders. In turn, encouraging career goals through exploration
through desires, needs, individual values, behavior and actions. Simply the opportunity to lead in providing students with tools to make strategic and
informed decisions about the career paths.
Articulating a Vision I believe collaborative planning with faculty, career development officers, and hiring recruiters from a shared governance
perspective. In addition, to articulating, developing and rolling out the vision and prompting feedback to measure those expected outcomes. I would
start by communicating with those who teach, requesting structured curriculum to incorporate career opportunities relative to their courses. The
effective avenues to reach the masses would include forums, press releases, college open houses, career fairs, website presence, faculty retreats, courses
and college–wide updates – all areas requiring community/workforce collaboration.

Application Essay: A Career As A Xavier Student
1. Why are you interested in serving in the role of the office(s) sought?

Xavier prides itself as a diverse institution by having students from different backgrounds and culture. However, I have noticed the lack of diversity in

What makes you qualified to serve in the office(s) sought?
First of all, I am a student and that gives me the opportunity to voice the opinions of my fellow students. I have also taken an initiative to join the

determined, and able to stand up for what I believe. Due to these qualities, many of my peers view me as a leader and think of me as the best person to
represent them.
In high school, I was involved in many different organizations such as Choir, French club, National Honor Society, and much more. I can incorporate
all the skills I gained from these organizations to help the Student Government Association grow.
One thing that qualifies me to serve in the SGA office is that I am diversity. As a Nigerian who has lived in America for many years, I am able to
relate well with both American and international students. When raising concerns, students often find it easy to confide in someone they can relate to

Establishing Unity Roundtable With An Updated Version Of...
We started our semester with the main goal of establishing UNITY Roundtable with an updated version of constitutions and bylaws. After a couple
of weeks of receiving feedback from the UNITY Roundtable reps we settled and voted on the latest version of them. After that was completed,
Deshauna and I with the help of the reps we worked to recruit a SFAC Liaison and after several weeks we elected Vincent Wan. He will oversee the
allocation of next year budgets and make sure the process and decisions is equitable and inclusive of multicultural organizations.
Through the semester, we came up with different long term goals such as creating a proposal for the renovation of the three multicultural houses. To
complete the research and plan we formed a workgroup that will be chaired by Senator Carter. This working group is formed by three UNITY
Roundtable members and three Student Senators. They will research best practices from other institutions and create a proposal that UNITY will vote
on and present to the board of Trustees during their spring gathering.
This semester was hard for students from marginalized communities, hence, most of UNITY's organizations. Starting with the hate crime targeting two
Latina students on campus. We reacted to this by organizing a meeting for student to color. During this meeting we address the hate crime, self–care,
and action steps. We invited Scott Law, Tony Tyler, and Provost Sue Madison to speak with us about how the incident was going to

Factors to Consider when Decorating a Student Union
Students unions need to consider color longevity and utilize colors that are neutral on fixed architectural structures and elements. Therefor, dГ©cor is
critical aspect that involves the use of color combinations and materials whether building or furniture. Functionality of a union should be a necessary
feature of the plan. The building design should have features of practicability and artistic beauty at the same time by keeping the design simple and
sifisticated. That will help the students, espeacilly in the busy time, to move easily and quickly without destroying the university's property as well as
enjoying the beauty of the place. Therefore, the best dГ©cor for a student union building incorporates building materials and furnishings while
considering with the main function of the building in mind (McVitty, 2009).
In practical terms, the colors of the walls should match the furniture's in ways that are inviting and nice to the students. For example, brown chairs
would work well with grey tables in a room with grey walls. The walls in such a room should also not be entirely grey. In such a case, a strip of light or
pale green in the middle of the wall breaks the monotony of gray color. Some walls should appear darker than others to create a sense of
differentiation did. To complement the pale green strip on the walls, a potted plant could be placed somewhere in the room. The combinations of
colors and the finishing's should appear classy and fit for the students it was

we received funding's to start the new building on the Klauer Campus on May 13, 1997, we had our open house dedication and began teaching in
those new classrooms.
In 2003, UNM–Taos became an official branch campus of the University of New Mexico under the Branch Community. Which was even a great
success not only for the college but for the community as well this opportunity was huge because the university began to open more jobs and
opportunities for many individuals? Our community of Taos is very rural, and employment is very hard to come by so the university gave many jobs.
In 2010, UNM–Taos was reaccredited by the Higher Learning Commission. We are known to be one of the 25 fastest growing community colleges of
its size under 2,500 enrollment in the nation by Community College Week. Our kid's campus which has been serving children care not only for the

Democracy as Student Mobilization: How Student Unions will change the future of Egypt
Ahmed Abd Rabou
Assistant Professor of Comparative Politics, Cairo University
HIGHER DEMOCRACY AND EDUCATION
Basic Education teaches people to interact with others and raises the benefits of civic participation, including voting and organizing. Edward L.
Glaeser (et. al.) claim that democracy has a wide potential base of support but offers weak incentives to its defenders while dictatorship provides
stronger incentives to a narrower base. By raising the benefits of civic engagement, education raises participation in support of a broad–based regime
(democracy) relative to that in support of a narrow–based regime (dictatorship). Therefore, in transitional contexts, education increases the likelihood of
successful democratic revolutions against dictatorships, and reduces that of successful anti–democratic coups.
Empirical political behavior research has consistently observed a robust and positive relationship between education and political engagement. The
notion that formal educational attainment is the primary mechanism behind many citizenship characteristics is largely uncontested. Education has
consistently been found to increase political participation, electoral turnout, civic engagement, political knowledge, and democratic attitudes and
opinions.
The hypothesis that higher education leads to more democratic politics has received a good deal of empirical

The On The Surface Level
On the surface level, all the games presented for this assignment are directly applicable to the everyday lives that the student gamers or their parents
and guardians are exposed at school or in life. While some of the games were developed to be more deliberate in their approach to reach certain
content or social agenda, these games could easily be incorporated into school curricula if planned carefully. In fact, a couple of games in this week's
offerings could be a more than relevant supplement to certain core subjects and specific units of instruction and still be engaging and challenging
enough to hold their attention to think critically. Additionally, one or two of the games allow for the student gamer to take learning into their own
hands and create games that help themselves and their peers. Yet conversely, there was one that may be too grand in instructional scope that students
may be thrown off by the amount effort just to progress within gameplay. Nevertheless, all of these games have the potential of being placed in
day–to–day school instruction.
FlipQuiz
While more of a study tool as opposed to an online video game, FlipQuiz allows for students, teachers, and other to create their own games using the
instructional content of their choice. The whole format is reminiscent of the television game show Jeopardy; one has a number of categories and a
series of tiered questions of different point value to choose from. Unlike Jeopardy, the answers do not have to come in

Personal Values And Values
1.The UA College of Medicine – Phoenix values its culture, curriculum, and the community it serves. Which aspect(s) do you value the most?
(required, 350 words max)
Health, humanity, and human connection are a few of the values which I hold to the highest regard. Health, because of its central importance to human
happiness and well–being. Humanity, because of the uniting and healing powers of compassion and love. And human connection, because of the sense
of belonging, identity, and support that is provided through our meaningful relationships with others. These values are particularly important to me
due to their necessity in not only the longevity of life, but in living a life of worth and quality. We learn from the experiences and insights of others,
and we learn together in our pursuit of new experiences alongside those whom we befriend. These experiences and connections play an important role
towards small and largescale economic progress, personal and populational health improvements, and the entwined facets of happiness and
productivity. In a more role specific sense, these values are of the utmost importance to me because I believe that the best care is given by a physician
who truly cares for and understands their patients, allowing them to improve their patient`s outlook on and quality of life, as well as their health. The
experiences that I have gained from overcoming adversity within my own life have instilled within me the desire to become a leader that

Student Unions In Australia Essay
The golden era between the 1960s and 2000's cut unto present time allowed student unions to play a more rampant role within the higher education
landscape in the UK. NSU founded in is the main governing body and unto 600 members. Jkfb poses the question "Can a campus community [within
unions] be created that allows all students to find a place of involvement and importance? With this in mind, this essay examines the inequalities of
student unions and their leadership. It argues that Student unions are merely symbolic of student representation and leaderships positions as they are
not fully representative of the wider student population. As areas such as ethnicity, gender and disabled are under represented .

An example is research carried out by Madriaga et al (2011) on students with Asperger's syndrome who find it challenging to interact socially and are
also sensitive to loud noise and sounds. Madriaga et al (2011) tells us about six students who attended fresher's week. Correspondinly Martin (2006)
as cited in Mardriaga (2010) tells us about two students of the six students who expressed discomfort during fresher week as the events tended to be
disymphathitc to their AS condition. The events due to the fact they had large crowds, loud noises and people.
Good (2007) tells us how we can make students with disability "invisible" when there needs are not catered for, therefore the are not able to engage
with their surroundings. It could be argued that student union tends to make students with disability "invisible". With this in mind they should develop
a greater awareness to students with different disabilities. This could be done by sought of creating a more welcoming atmosphere by providing spaces
which are comfortable for students with disabilities communicate and interact freely without barriers such as loud noise, Madriaga et al

Self Reflection
As an undergraduate student at the University of Central Florida, I learned a great deal about how societies generally function and how laws and
policies can affect individual members of a society in unique and significant ways. With low–income families not investing in their educations past high
school and lacking proper knowledge of how their governing laws and regulations work and are enforced, they often fall into predicaments that could
be avoided if they just had someone to point them in the right direction. When I was President of the Student Government Association at Seminole
State College, I often encountered peers and classmates who were unaware of the assistance available to them through the city or university if they
simply didn't have the means to meet their everyday needs. These students and other working adults in the community were struggling to acquire food
and clothing, and yet there were churches, shelters, thrift stores, and vouchers available and easily accessible to them for assistance; with me being
so passionate about helping others, I informed them of these resources available to them. Once I witnessed such hardships firsthand, it served as
confirmation for me in what should could have been done and needed to be done for my former students. Also, when I served as the Region 3 Director
for the Florida African–American Student Association, I participated in board meetings where my colleagues and I discussed various ways to ensure

The Negative Effects Of Stress
Stress, what is it, how it Affects you and How to Deal With it
Riley C. Keim
Culver–Stockton College
Stress, what is it, how it Affects you and How to Deal With it
Stress can have both positive and negative effects on your body. Stress is what gives a person that last burst of energy in a competition.Stress is what
keeps people up at night, what makes them stray from their normal diet and it can even go as far as making someone physically ill.
What is stress? Stress is one's body's natural response to threats and pressure. Athletes feel stress during any game or race, students feel stress before
a big test or exam. Workers feel stress when they are assigned to a big project or up for a promotion. Stress causes feelings of nervousness, low energy,
and even tenses us up and makes us feel on–edge and easily irritable. When a person is stressed out their adrenal gland kicks into overdrive causing
high levels of adrenaline in the brain.
Distress is negative stress in a person's life. Examples of distress may include,
The death of a family member
The death of a lifelong friend
Separation from your spouse
The end of a long relationship Having money issues
If distress is not handled correctly it can lead to the feelings of hopelessness, irritability, and even getting physically ill.
Eustress is the good stress in a person's life. Eustress can be caused by events such as
Entering into big tournaments
Being up for a promotion at work
The holiday seasons

Conference Chair For The Asian American Student Union
Conference Chair – AASU As the conference chair for the Asian American Student Union, I spearheaded a school wide conference on Asian American
issues and advocacy. This conference brought in speakers from across the United States, including members of the U.S. government, and had over 100
participants. In addition, I led a group of twenty students to the East Coast Asian American Student Union conference at Columbia University. I
developed preparatory pre–departure workshops, handled scholarship distribution, and outlined travel logistics. As a member of the AASU board, I had
the opportunity to develop my own general body meeting on the topic of Asian American portrayal in the media. My position as Conference Chair was
my first large responsibility in college. This position developed my interpersonal and team working skills; it also instilled the importance of time
management and organizational habits. Through the inspiration of my peers, I became committed to bring creativity and innovation to all events that I
planned. This position allowed me to explore my passion of minority advocacy though the Asian/Asian American population and serve as a catalyst for
the promotion of education and awareness of Asian history and culture. Our greatest accomplishment was the development and passing of the Asian
American Studies Minor at the University of Florida. Our first step was garnering support from the community through assembling a committee of

An Emergency Motion Filed By Sga Presidential Candidate...
A court order has ruled to deny an emergency motion filed by SGA presidential candidate Jacob Milich in his constitutional challenge case against UCF.
The ruling was made on March 15, a day before Sen. Milich was scheduled to appear before the SGA elections commission for alleged campaign
violations.
On March 10, Milich filed a lawsuit against the University of Central Florida Board of Trustees, UCF's Student Government Association, SGA's
election commission, student body president Cait Zona, supervisor of elections Whitney Barnes and Maribeth Ehasz, vice president of Student
Development and Enrollment Services.
The case complaint cited violations of Milich's First Amendment rights, violations to the federal Family and Educational Rights and Privacy Act and
violations of the state's Sunshine Laws, according to court documents.
Milich requested the emergency motion in the initial filing in which he maintained that "unless he received preliminary injunctive relief, defendants
will imminently and continuously violate his rights," according to court documents.
Although his request for injunctive relief was denied, Judge Janet Thorpe of the ninth judicial court did grant a motion for an expedited hearing.
David Oglethorpe, communications coordinator for the Office of Student Involvement, said that although election violation hearings have traditionally
been open, the hearings scheduled to occur on March 16 and 17 were closed.

Personal Narrative: The Multicultural Student Union
During my time with MITU this term I was able to do a lot of things that were new to me and empowering. First and foremost, the 'legislative group'
and I went to Salem to speak with the Oregon Law Center about their current agenda and mission. As a group, we learned about House Bill 2004
and the issues that it is attempting to address. I was able to print out and distribute some of the material the Oregon Law Center and Stabling
Housing Organization provided for both the rally that occurred on March 2nd but also for a more general flyer on House Bill 2004. I also drove a
majority of the group there and back which was really interesting. We were able to talk more and openly about subjects that were both sociological and
relevant. My classmates are also educated which made it an even more critical and engaging conversation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

distribute them before the march which was a few days away at the time. Morgan and I were able to give a short presentation for the Multicultural
Student Union. This was somewhat fun for me since I haven't had the opportunity to give a little speech to an audience since my last public speech
class in community college – one of the best courses anyone can take in my opinion. Morgan did the longer of the part of the game and introduction

Free Speech on College Campuses Essay

Final Essay #2
Importance of 'Free Speech'
College is a time when most individuals are experiencing major changes and begin to explore new perspectives. The transition in becoming more
independent, creating new insights and peer influence are key factors in changing the perspective of an individual. Students are faced with new ideas
from their professors, family and fellow peers. Through that acquired knowledge many students decide that they either agree or disagree with the
perspectives that they are taught. Allowing the right of 'Free Speech' on public college campuses has become an important issue that many public
colleges are starting to address. In college students are capable of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite their opinions, free speech was a great way in this situation for students to rally together and publically inform the rest of campus of their
beliefs. In the school newspaper, The Daily Emerald, CJ Ciaramelle wrote "About 300 students from across the campus community – student unions,
Greek Life, the ASUO, the Survival Center, the Women's Center– showed up at the meeting to protest the Forum" (1). Although the majority of people
protested against the forum the right to free speech, it is important because it allows students to make decisions on their own and invite students to do
the same.
"Free speech" often has negative connotations because the negative outcomes are publicized more than the positive outcomes. 'Free Speech' is a time
for individuals to express their beliefs and topic on an important issue. People chose to present themselves in a vast majority of ways such as, holding
signs, making t–shirts, shouting, etc. People who chose to present themselves in disrupting ways such as, foul language, inappropriate attire are more
likely to be noticed than another student that is holding a simple and respectful sign. Schmidt states, "Universities cannot censor or suppress speech, no
matter how obnoxious in content, without violating their justification of existence" (2). There is no definition of what type of 'free speech' should be
censored and not allowed. With that said, there should not be a limit on 'free speech'

Example Of Diversity Essay
As Texas' first Aggie governor and as someone who was twice elected Yell Leader of Texas A&M University, I am deeply troubled by the recent
conduct of A&M's administration and Student Government Association (SGA) during the Aggie student–body president elections for 2017–2018.
When I first read that our student body had elected an openly gay man, Bobby Brooks, for president of the student body, I viewed it as a testament to
the Aggie character. I was proud of our students because the election appeared to demonstrate a commitment to treating every student equally, judging
on character rather than on personal characteristics. Unfortunately, a closer review appears to prove the opposite; and the Aggie administration and
SGA owe us answers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The desire of the electorate is overturned, and thousands of student votes are disqualified because of free glow sticks that appeared for 11 seconds of a
months–long campaign. Apparently, glow sticks merit the same punishment as voter intimidation. Now, Brooks' presidency is being treated as a
victory for "diversity." It is difficult to escape the perception that this quest for "diversity" is the real reason the election outcome was overturned.
Does the principle of "diversity" override and supersede all other values of our Aggie Honor Code? Every Aggie ought to ask themselves: How
would they act and feel if the victim was different? What if McIntosh had been a minority student instead of a white male? What if Brooks had been
the candidate disqualified? Would the administration and the student body have allowed the first gay student body president to be voided for using
charity glow sticks? Would the student body have allowed a black student body president to be disqualified on anonymous charges of voter

Statement Of Purpose In Computer Science

magic and I never ceased to learn new things especially, computers. Its formidability and enigma urged me to take footsteps in the field of Computer
Science, that is when I decided to pursue my graduation in Computer Science. Hence upon completion of my 12th grade, I took up Computer Science

academic excellence. In the course of my Undergraduation, my area of interest is C, Java, Computer Networks, Data Mining and Web Technologies.

The University Of The Ozarks
The Student Government Association, a student lead organization aimed to improve the campus community, has established several goals they would
like to accomplish during the current school year, 2015–2016. In order to determine these goals and objectives, two detailed persona profiles were
created which provided the association with a better understanding of their audiences and how to best communicate with them. The publics were
divided into two groups, students pertaining to the senate and students pertaining to the student body. Therefore, the next stage consists in performing
research regarding the goals SGA has established by conducting surveys and focus groups on campus. As mentioned previously, SGA works closely
with two different publics. The first and primary publics are the officers and senators of the association, whereas the second publics consist of the rest
of the student body at the University of the Ozarks. The characteristic which differentiate the first from the second public is that senators and officers
work as the intermediary between the student body and the Board of Trustee and President. Nonetheless, both persona profiles describe students that
are involved in the various campus activities and show interest in the different school related affairs. These types of students do not sit back and blindly
accept the changes made on campus, but actively take part in the decisions making role. Although the final decisions or outcomes might not always

The Baptist Student Union Building

  • 1. The Baptist Student Union Building Koinonia "Hey, you want to go to Koinonia," my friend Sarah asked. "Sure, I'll go." Questions filled my head as I headed toward the club's gathering place. "What is Koinonia? Who is in it? Am I even welcomed to go?" "Yes, anyone is welcomed! Just come check it out. By the time it is over, you will have a sense of what Koinonia is." As I approached the door, I prepared myself for what I would encounter beyond the door. Walking into the bottom of the Baptist Student Union building, I noticed several familiar faces. "Welcome, I am so happy you are here," the vice president exclaimed. I automatically felt in place, and took a seat at a table. Sarah Roberson, the vice president of Koinonia, sat next to me and asked me what persuaded me to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Sarah, what are the benefits you got out of joining?' A smile came across her face as she replied, "I get to know other Christians and spend time in fellowship. While I have been here, I have learned different ways to reach out to people and witness." As vice president, Sarah plans the singer and speaker for each weekly meeting, and works by the side of the president to plan activities. By this time, the room became filled with girls who took time to welcome me personally. After a few exchanges, the singers began to start. The song lifted the room's spirits, and everyone joined along in singing. Looking around, I became so happy to see young women close to my age having fun worshipping Christ. Faces were covered in smiles as the song ended. After the song was done, the president stood up and announced she would be the speaker. Sharing her personal testimony, my nerves were struck with the influence she had experienced. Finishing her story, she closed us out in prayer. While walking out of the building, I found myself walking the same path as a classmate who was also leaving. "What did you think of that, Taryn?" With a smile upon her face, she looked up and said, "I just love how great it is to have that time to fellowship and have with God during a stressful week." Her answer summed up my feelings perfectly. "Have you joined?" Not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Leadership Practice Inventory That I Took At The... The Leadership Practice Inventory that I took at the beginning of my Student Orientation Counselor or S.O.C. experience was eye opening. It teaches and surveys people about five leadership skills these skills were further explained in The Student Leadership Challenge text by the authors James Kouzes and Barry Posner (2014) the different practices of leadership were: Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act, and Encourage the Heart. These principles each have their own challenges and frustrations, and as a leader they have helped me realize what I can improve on. Modeling the Way was one of my top two practices that I had ranked high on during the skills inventory, and its focus is on finding your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was a skill that focused on helping your followers know that you are proud of them and the contributions that they have either done or helped you with. This was hard for me to remember to do in the moment, but during debriefing on orientation days it was nice to celebrate our accomplishments or how people worked through hard situations. These debriefings brought everyone together and created a spirit of community, which is one way the book focused in encouraging the Heart (Kouzes & Posner, 2014). Another skill that was something a truly focused on during the summer was Enabling Others to Act. It was based on fostering collaboration and strengthening others (Kouzes & Posner, 2014). I found this was a hard skill for me to work on because I like to do things my way. I worked through it by truly listening to others ideas, and the fact that I was a new S.O.C. I wanted to learn as much as I could from the returning members of my team. My skit group created a strong bond of trust in each other to get our work done in a timely manner. The last skill was Challenge the Process and this for me has always been a hard skill to get my self to do. This has been my main focus this summer, and I continue to work on it to this day. Challenge the Process focused on going outside the box of the organization or group your working with and experimenting with new ideas. It also focused on searching for opportunities such as seizing the initiative (Kouzes & ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They demand job security, academic freedom, and more full–time jobs at the 24 public colleges (Ghebreslassie). It hit five weeks from October 16 to November 21. The strike has a huge negative and positive impacts on student's happiness. First of all, the strike is going to be high pressure and a very stressful situation for students. This is because students worry about losing fall semester, money, job opportunity after the strike. For example, after the third week, a lot of student concern about their assignments, exams, and their co–op because students think the strike can cause the cancellation of the fall semester. In addition, if the semester will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. A Career As A Spanish Language Teacher When I was younger I observed and experienced the Spanish culture and found such interest in expanding my education to later on pursue the career of a Spanish Language Teacher. After researching the responsibilities, the work conditions, salary, the outlook, and future; a career as a spanish language teacher would be interesting, and the perfect training would be at St. Mary's University at San Antonio. Tasks and responsibilities for this career are all very different and must be done on a daily basis when getting the students to comprehend and understand the new teachings. Foreign Language Teachers must make sure to interpret the terminology and translate it into the student's natural language to help them understand better in their learning. They must also provide instruction in the literature and also in the history of the culture so that the students will be learning correctly. Professors should also tests students frequently to see their progress so that they know exactly where they're at. These tests and other activities will show the teacher if the students understand to read, write, and most importantly the overall understanding in the dialect. If the instructor sees that the students may need a bit more of help with understanding, it is recommended that the students work in small groups so that other learners that have a better understanding of the language can help the ones that don't really understand. The Pros And Cons Of Independent Student Unions The Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) has always been a hothouse for political debate arguing over the belief independent student unions, such as Carleton University's Student Association (CUSA), are a better monetary expense since they can execute the same work for less. Co–campaign Manager of the slate One Carleton, Kevin Mason, said he personally does not see the value of the Federation. "I think they grossly mismanaged student's money," said Mason. "The only good work the CFS does is running minority right campaigns and while we are spending thousands of dollars a year, we only get a small amount of materials back." "We are actually Local 1 and I think that sort of speaks to how far CUSA has come," said Masjedee. While some Carleton members, like Masjedee and Mason, said they think CUSA can operate and provide the same level of quality and services to the students without being a member of the Federation, others think it will generate a huge impact on other university members. "The big impact might be a drop in the pond considering how many unions are members of the CFS. The impact is if we move our 400 thousand dollars of student funding that goes to the CFS, that is 400 thousand dollars of less work they can do, whether that be lobbying or underground campaigns," said Owens. • 8. The University Of New Jersey Dear Dr. Tracy Perron & the Chair of Student Affairs, I, Flora Ajayi, was dismissed from the Nursing program at The College of New Jersey due to my performance in Principles of Microbiology (BIO 144) and Anatomy & Physiology II (BIO 142 ), which are major Nursing prerequisites. I take responsibility for my academic progressions and understand the consequences and rewards of the Academic realm. The study habits that allowed me to flourish in high school, for example, studying class notes and reviewing a week before the exam, simply did not work in college. This forced me into a state of panic, which led me not to do well in both science classes. Studying effectively in college is different than studying in high school due to the rigor of the course and my attempt to process on a higher academic level. My inability to succeed in the sciences during my spring semester, despite my early success, has allowed for both personal growth and self–reflection while repeating BIO 144 and BIO 142. At the conclusion of both of my science classes, I would seek out a quiet study area and recall what I had learned in each lecture. The recollection of events not only allows one to retain information in a short time, but allows one to see both their weaknesses and strengths. Instead of working on these weaknesses, I would focus solely on my strengths, thinking that it was the most important information I needed to learn. This flawed reasoning is the reason why I was close, but did not meet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The International Student Association ( Misa ) Lounge On... When I initially found out that I was interviewing Josh for my one–to–one I wasn't too stoked on the idea. I was a bit worried that our session together might not be as personal as I would like and that he would find it hard to open up because of our differences. I originally asked him to meet me at the Minnesota International Student Association (MISA) lounge on the second floor of Coffman Union. MISA is a space specifically catered to International students and multi–cultural students so I assumed it would be different from what Josh might be accustomed to. When Josh arrived at the MISA lounge the room was occupied by a student group event, so I took him to the room right next door, the Asian Student Union lounge. By the way Josh looked around the room, I could tell that he was a little uncomfortable by the "Asianess" of the room, so I asked him if he would rather do the interview somewhere else. He replied back that he was fine with the space so we carried on with our 1 on 1. To begin with, I asked Josh to tell me his story and share some significant moments in his life. It was a very vague question and I didn't expect much contend from his answers. He began with the very nonspecific details about his childhood growing up in Woodbury, MN and how lived a very "normal" life. He talked about how he participated in soccer, baseball and hockey and how sports kept him occupied while growing up. I felt that he wasn't sharing much so I asked him the question again about a ... • 11. Junk Food Should Be Banned In Schools Shannon Bowen Professor Olga Ivanovic English Composition 111 24 Sept 2017 A New Perspective In Brian Rosenthal's article "A ban on junk food may harm school funding." he gives a report on what came of the ban, which was placed on different schools in Seattle. This ban was on junk food sold in school vending machines, "Permitting only milk, natural fruit juices, baked chips, and granola bars to be sold–items that have proven to be unpopular–student governments have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenues, leading to costly increases in fees for athletic and student activities and the cancellation of programs. Moreover, many students have turned to convenience stores and gas stations off campus to buy junk food, which undermines the ban's mission to promote healthy eating. Given these impacts, the Seattle school board may relax the ban." ("A Ban on Junk Food May Harm School Funding.") It seems that such a ban within schools would be super beneficial when first stated "A ban on junk food". However when looking a little closer it seems to be more clear to society that there are many ways that it can go wrong. For one, the items they have chosen to put in the vending machines in place of the junk food, is not healthy, it shows that the government has it's own definition of healthy. Also if they are banning junk food are they being observant of what is being served in cafeterias?, because any kind of processed food is not healthy. Another point of concern is how ... Having practice every day, it is easy to get on each others nerves. However, it is important to realize that every day is a new day. Before coming to a conclusion, it is crucial to listen to both sides and also take emotions into consideration. Lastly, I feel that it is very important to plan floor activities that provide students on the floor with opportunities to get to know each other. Through these activities and new found relationships, I feel that it will help the residents to be more respectful, social, and cordial with one another. Bonding opportunities create more of a 'family–feel' within the resident's hall, making the dorm experience one that everyone will enjoy. 3. People had more money because their wages had increased. This meant that parents were able to give their children "pocket–money". Children were then able to spend this money on the things that were available at the time. These were things like going to the cinema. In the cinema they could see films made by Hollywood about daredevil young men living on the edge. • 17. Jaguar Student Activity Center Essay The best place on campus is undoubtedly the Jaguar Student Activities Center or JSAC. Walking in from the hot, muggy air into the breezeway, a plethora of things is going on at once: immediate relief from the heat because of the air conditioner, delicious smells wafting from the food court, and student and/or faculty events. It is a great location to meet new people and experiment socially in a safe environment. Despite all the activity, the JSAC is a relaxed space created for, and by students and it is a great space to spend time in between and after classes (JSAC). Unfortunately, even though Augusta University has such a diverse student body, people tend to seek out those that are similar to them ethnically and culturally. This can lead some to feel trapped in their social circles, lost in the crowd, or alone and uncomfortable in a new environment. Adrienne Rich describes this feeling as "bumping my way against glassy panes... gathering myself up... then again taking off" (63). In this quote, Rich is comparing herself to a bee that has been trapped within her house and is searching for an exit. She previously describes the trapped bee as "looking for what it needs, just as I am, and, just like me, it has gotten trapped in a place where it cannot fulfill its own life" (63). Just as Rich feels trapped within the confines of her limited view of feminism, some students feel trapped within their social circles and limited by perceived social boundaries. After a couple of weeks of receiving feedback from the UNITY Roundtable reps we settled and voted on the latest version of them. After that was completed, Deshauna and I with the help of the reps we worked to recruit a SFAC Liaison and after several weeks we elected Vincent Wan. He will oversee the allocation of next year budgets and make sure the process and decisions is equitable and inclusive of multicultural organizations. Through the semester, we came up with different long term goals such as creating a proposal for the renovation of the three multicultural houses. To complete the research and plan we formed a workgroup that will be chaired by Senator Carter. This working group is formed by three UNITY Roundtable members and three Student Senators. They will research best practices from other institutions and create a proposal that UNITY will vote on and present to the board of Trustees during their spring gathering. This semester was hard for students from marginalized communities, hence, most of UNITY's organizations. Starting with the hate crime targeting two Latina students on campus. We reacted to this by organizing a meeting for student to color. During this meeting we address the hate crime, self–care, and action steps. • 23. Factors to Consider when Decorating a Student Union Students unions need to consider color longevity and utilize colors that are neutral on fixed architectural structures and elements. Therefor, dГ©cor is critical aspect that involves the use of color combinations and materials whether building or furniture. Functionality of a union should be a necessary feature of the plan. The building design should have features of practicability and artistic beauty at the same time by keeping the design simple and sifisticated. That will help the students, espeacilly in the busy time, to move easily and quickly without destroying the university's property as well as enjoying the beauty of the place. Therefore, the best dГ©cor for a student union building incorporates building materials and furnishings while considering with the main function of the building in mind (McVitty, 2009). In practical terms, the colors of the walls should match the furniture's in ways that are inviting and nice to the students. For example, brown chairs would work well with grey tables in a room with grey walls. The walls in such a room should also not be entirely grey. In such a case, a strip of light or pale green in the middle of the wall breaks the monotony of gray color. Some walls should appear darker than others to create a sense of differentiation did. To complement the pale green strip on the walls, a potted plant could be placed somewhere in the room. • 26. Democracy As Student Mobilization : How Student Unions... Democracy as Student Mobilization: How Student Unions will change the future of Egypt Ahmed Abd Rabou Assistant Professor of Comparative Politics, Cairo University HIGHER DEMOCRACY AND EDUCATION Basic Education teaches people to interact with others and raises the beneп¬Ѓts of civic participation, including voting and organizing. Edward L. Glaeser (et. al.) claim that democracy has a wide potential base of support but offers weak incentives to its defenders while dictatorship provides stronger incentives to a narrower base. By raising the benefits of civic engagement, education raises participation in support of a broad–based regime (democracy) relative to that in support of a narrow–based regime (dictatorship). Therefore, in transitional contexts, education increases the likelihood of successful democratic revolutions against dictatorships, and reduces that of successful anti–democratic coups. Empirical political behavior research has consistently observed a robust and positive relationship between education and political engagement. The notion that formal educational attainment is the primary mechanism behind many citizenship characteristics is largely uncontested. Education has consistently been found to increase political participation, electoral turnout, civic engagement, political knowledge, and democratic attitudes and opinions. The hypothesis that higher education leads to more democratic politics has received a good deal of empirical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While some of the games were developed to be more deliberate in their approach to reach certain content or social agenda, these games could easily be incorporated into school curricula if planned carefully. In fact, a couple of games in this week's offerings could be a more than relevant supplement to certain core subjects and specific units of instruction and still be engaging and challenging enough to hold their attention to think critically. Additionally, one or two of the games allow for the student gamer to take learning into their own hands and create games that help themselves and their peers. Yet conversely, there was one that may be too grand in instructional scope that students may be thrown off by the amount effort just to progress within gameplay. Health, because of its central importance to human happiness and well–being. Humanity, because of the uniting and healing powers of compassion and love. And human connection, because of the sense of belonging, identity, and support that is provided through our meaningful relationships with others. These values are particularly important to me due to their necessity in not only the longevity of life, but in living a life of worth and quality. We learn from the experiences and insights of others, and we learn together in our pursuit of new experiences alongside those whom we befriend. These experiences and connections play an important role towards small and largescale economic progress, personal and populational health improvements, and the entwined facets of happiness and productivity. In a more role specific sense, these values are of the utmost importance to me because I believe that the best care is given by a physician who truly cares for and understands their patients, allowing them to improve their patient`s outlook on and quality of life, as well as their health. Self Reflection As an undergraduate student at the University of Central Florida, I learned a great deal about how societies generally function and how laws and policies can affect individual members of a society in unique and significant ways. With low–income families not investing in their educations past high school and lacking proper knowledge of how their governing laws and regulations work and are enforced, they often fall into predicaments that could be avoided if they just had someone to point them in the right direction. When I was President of the Student Government Association at Seminole State College, I often encountered peers and classmates who were unaware of the assistance available to them through the city or university if they simply didn't have the means to meet their everyday needs. These students and other working adults in the community were struggling to acquire food and clothing, and yet there were churches, shelters, thrift stores, and vouchers available and easily accessible to them for assistance; with me being so passionate about helping others, I informed them of these resources available to them. A court order has ruled to deny an emergency motion filed by SGA presidential candidate Jacob Milich in his constitutional challenge case against UCF. The ruling was made on March 15, a day before Sen. Milich was scheduled to appear before the SGA elections commission for alleged campaign violations. On March 10, Milich filed a lawsuit against the University of Central Florida Board of Trustees, UCF's Student Government Association, SGA's election commission, student body president Cait Zona, supervisor of elections Whitney Barnes and Maribeth Ehasz, vice president of Student Development and Enrollment Services. Milich requested the emergency motion in the initial filing in which he maintained that "unless he received preliminary injunctive relief, defendants will imminently and continuously violate his rights," according to court documents. Although his request for injunctive relief was denied, Judge Janet Thorpe of the ninth judicial court did grant a motion for an expedited hearing.
