Has the smallest tilt of all the planets at
1/30 of a degree.
One of the 4 terrestrial planets.
Mercury is smaller than Saturn’s largest
moon, Titan.

80% of the surface is covered by volcanic
plains.
Has a extremely dense atmosphere made
mainly of carbon dioxide.
The clouds on Venus are capable of
producing lightning.
No solid inner core.
Has no natural satellites.

Third planet from the Sun.
Only planet capable of supporting life.
Was formed approximately 4.54 billion
years ago.
One of the terrestrial planets.
75% of the surface is water.

Nicknamed “the red planet” because of the
iron on its surface.
Named after Mars, the roman god of war.
One of the terrestrial planets.
It has two irregularly shaped moons.

Largest planet.
Fifth planet from the sun.
The first of the gas giants.
Biggest storm called the “Great Red Spot”.
Has 3 main rings.
Named after Jupiter, the Roman king of
the gods.

7. Saturn

Sixth planet from the sun.
One of the gas giants.
Has an extremely high number of rings.
Its radius is 9 times greater than Earth’s.
It has the second largest moon in the solar
system.
It’s the second largest planet in the solar
system.

8. Uranus

One of the gas giants, sometimes called an ice
giant.
Seventh planet from the sun.
Its tilt is so great that it is nearly sideways.
Has a complicated ring system.
The combined mass of the Uranian moon
system is less than half of Neptune’s moon
Triton.
Home to the Uranus Dark Spot.

Its moon Triton orbits in the opposite direction
from all other moons in the solar system.
It has a ring system.
