How to Remove Document Management Hurdles with X-Docs?
Ouestion 4
1. RESEARCH & PLANNING
I made a time toast at the start of my
research process in order to make sure
that I was on time with my filming and
made sure that all the actors, props
and dates were organised. This helped
me to make sure I met the deadline.
I used Google to help me find inspiration when researching the folk music genre. It
helped me by allowing me to watch other folk music video and get ideas and to also
research on further ideas such as a fairy idea however for technical reasons I decided
not to use it as the audience may not understand it.
2. Nikon DSLR camera: I took the camera
out to take photos of images to make
mood boards to present to my target
audience to get feedback and
inspiration for my own music video.
This helped me recognise what my
genre of music was and the target
audience I was aiming my music video
at. Changing my mood boards from this
To this
This picture was taken in the portrait setting to
reduce the depth of field and give better quality.
3. CONSTRUCTION
I used a Panasonic HD DV camera however this restricted
my creativity in my music video as I didn’t have a full
understanding of how to use the camera and all the
different settings so just stayed with using the basic setting
and made the video to the best of my ability, this is an
example of technological determinism.
After filming my video I then began to edit
it in adobe premiere pro. This allowed me
to add special effect such as cross dissolve
in between my clips.
I also slowed down the speed of some
clips and cropped parts which I thought
weren’t helpful in telling the narrative of
my video or were unnecessary.
This allowed me to use the best of my
recordings and also enhance the
performance in the post production part of
my music video.
4. Photoshop
My digipack was made using
Photoshop this allowed me to select
images that I had taken myself and
enhance them.
Similarly to the camera I
experienced some technical
difficulties as I didn't have a full
understanding of editing photos.
However whilst making my cover I
edited the saturation and lightness
to bring out more earthy colour to
create a folk effect and also used a
particular font which I felt was
suitable and worked well with the I used Photoshop again when
photos. creating my advert as I wanted to
use the same font and similar
effects to make sure that my
products were similar and could
be related back to the genre of
my music.
5. EVALUATION.
I used technology to help receive my
audience feedback especially in media 2.0
by posting my music video onto YouTube
which can be seen globally by all
audiences specifically my target audience.
This helped me gain feedback on whether
they liked my video or what could have
been improved.
“the slow shots fit in well with the pace of the
music video”
“shots of the birds gave a folky feel”
Social network face book also helped me to gain
“don't like it when it goes between black and
white and colours”
information and feedback from my target
audience as they were able to watch the video
“wasn't enough lip-synching” and post their comments on a set amount of
questions I asked.
“Some of the clips were repeated so was
slightly repetitive”
