Different types of horror films

• I’ve done research into film magazines and covers and something I’ve noticed is that
there is a difference between generic film magazines’ horror issues and specific
horror magazine covers.
• I am going to decide which magazine to create for my horror film’s feature.

3. EMPIRE
Empire is a popular film magazine which covers all
kinds of genres., although rarely horror.
When covering a horror film here’s what I’ve noticed
• The cover is still quite sophisticated, using a simple
colour scheme.
• The masthead is related to the film itself.
• The image is not necessarily scary as it still needs to
appeal to the wide target audience.
• The title of the film is not as big as ive seen before
with popular blockbusters as this film is perhaps less
know.
• There are a range of genres featured in the coverlines.
• Buzz words like ‘first looks’

4. HORROR
Scream and Fangoria are horror film
magazines
• The whole magazine covers is about
horror films and the name itself is
too.
• The images are clearly from horror
films and are quite unsettling or
even scary.
• Both feature a strip containing
other films aside from the main
film, TV shows as well as films,
these are all horror or thriller.
