Magazine Pitch and Proposal Overview
Proposed Genre of Magazine: Rock magazine.
Proposed Name: Volume.
Alternative/Back Up Name: Amped.
Ideas for Front Cover:
Include initial thoughts on dominant image, font styles, articles to be used, colour scheme etc.
The three colours that my analysis showed that my target audience wanted is black, red and
white. These are the colours that will continue throughout my magazine production to give the
target audience what they want. My dominant image will be rather a group photo or a single
person photo showing conventions of a rock magazine that will stick with the theme of the
genre. This will be situated slightly over the title to signify the image is more important to the
content of the magazine than the title.
The anchorage I will use in my magazine has been picked by my target audience and the one
with the most votes is the one that my double page spread will be themed on. I use the one my
target audience wanted as it shows I have used my initiative to come up with the story they
would most like to see.
The title on my front page is important as I have showed that I have used the target audience in
the process of making my title. I will edit it to make in become my own.
Target Audience (age range, gender, interests, income etc:
The main age range I am aiming for with my ‘Rock’ magazine is late teenagers and older,
preferably 15+ so I can use some difficult terminology that they will be able to understand. I
don’t have a certain gender for my magazine; it is made for both sexes.

2. Section Headers for Contents List; I will have three sections in my magazine so that if they are
looking for a particular part of the magazine they can find it fast and simple. Im going to have three
headers for my contents page which will be; Gig information, rock gossip and rumours and
interviews.
An Overview of Some of the Articles/Features Included on your Contents Page:
My contents page will show numbers of pages where the target audience can find the content of
the text they are looking for in my magazine. It will also include a teaser photo of what else they can
find in the photo.

Article Double Page Spread:
What will your Double Page Spread be about: On my market research I asked a question what they
would most like to see, the result was an interview with a rock celebrity on their experiences. This is
the one I am most likely to be using as it’s what the target audience are interested in if they was to
buy this magazine.
Back Up Idea: The target audience’s second choice was rather information on new songs available
or gig reviews.
Percentage Split between Images and Text: 60% text 40% images.
Possible Title or Headline: Foo fighters interview.
What kind of a ‘story’ are you going to create?
I am going to create an interview from the band Foo fighters. This will include question been
asked and them answering in full detail. The questions are most likely to be aimed on their
experiences and how they got to where they are today.
Additional Ideas worth mentioning:
I aim for the representation of the Rock magazine to proceed throughout the whole of my
magazine so the target audience can get a full view on the magazine they bought.
