2. As I was creating my magazine I was researching different magazines and layout styles. I came across Vibe
magazine which I really liked the style of so I thought of some basic ideas which were similar to theirs to put
into my magazine. As vibe and I have similar primary audience which is 14-20 and a secondary audience of
20+ I did use a similar style to their magazine so that I would know it would attract an audience. In my
questionnaire Vibe was the most popular read magazine with 7 votes from my primary audience. This would
be one of the many reasons why I chose Vibe to get ideas from. You can see that the genre of the magazine is
rap as I have included some famous artists which are around now to be talked about in my magazine. I would
definitely purchase my magazine as it is my kind of genre of music which I listen to and I think I would enjoy
reading it. I feel like I don’t think I need to improve anything on my magazine.
I used a lot of red and white
in my magazine as I have
seen that in a Vibe
magazine they use a lot of
them kind of colours so I
used them to give it a bit of
originality.
As for the vibe magazine
Trey Songz is looking
directly into the camera and
towards the audience. I
decided that I would want to
use this technique as I feel it
would bring the audience to
want to read the magazine
and it makes the audience
feel that they’re welcomed
by the model to read the
magazine. I decided to use
these colours because I
want people to feel
welcomed into reading my
magazine.
3. I have decided to make the double page spread
similar to what Vibe has done with the Bruno Mars
version. As Bruno mars is not looking into the camera
and he is looking at his interview I have decided to do
that because I feel like it looks like people will want to
read because you wouldn’t want too many eyes
looking at the camera lens. I haven’t copied it exactly
as I have kept with my red and white scheme
throughout the whole magazine and didn’t want to
change it up. Also my heading and the into text to tell
the audience all about my artist isn't exactly the same
layout as the Vibe magazine. I feel like the whole of
my magazine would attract the audiences attention
into wanting to buy my magazine. I have tried to set
the layout similar to what Vibe have done by the font
and the way the questions and answers are sorted
out. I feel like my double page spread attracts the
genre of my target audience which I am going for as
it is similar to how Vibe has done theirs and that
would attract their audience to read mine. You can
see that it is a rap magazine as in the interview it
talks about how he came around to doing rap and the
model is dressed as if he was a rapper. I think the
strengths of the product is very high and I think that
people would go out and buy it who would like to read
something like this with their favourite artists.

4. “The first thing that I noticed when I first looked at the magazine cover was how dominant the
model looked on the front of the magazine. As its someone looking at the camera lens I feel like
its welcoming me into wanting to read the magazine. The Cartier bracelet and Rolex watch
makes it look like he is an actual rapper because most famous artists are into expensive stuff
like that so it makes it actually look like he's a rapper. Reading through the pages of my friends
magazine I realised that it was suited to what I listen to and my genre of music by including
Kanye West, Drake, Kendrick Lamar.
I don’t think that there is anything wrong with this magazine as it includes every detail that you
would want in a magazine. I think that I would have a big base of people wanting to read the
magazine. All together I would definitely buy this magazine if it were in stores because it
includes the artists of which I listen to and I love the style as the way it is set out. It is easy to
have a look around as she has put numbers to tell you which page to look at and I think that I
would have a big range of an audience for people to read it.”
5. Outro magazine has a lot unique and original qualities as she has used similar ideas to Vibe
magazine. As I don’t like rap music I wouldn’t buy this type of magazine in a store if I had seen
it. However I do like the way that she has designed the magazine and made it look professional.
As I have read through the pages I like the fact that it has advertised Wireless festival because
that music festival has mostly rap artists playing, so I think that it is trying to get more people
there by advertising it. It follows a style all the way through by using the colour scheme which is
important when it comes to a magazine because sometimes you don’t want everything being in
your face.
Overall I think that Outro magazine is great for people who is into that kind of music because I
feel like its something you would want to read. It brings you into the magazine by talking about
peoples favourite artists and what you can see that they have been up too.”
