The spelling of the simple past form (-ed forms)
• If there is a consonant after a stressed vowel at the end of the
word, double the consonant

swap - swapped
• If the vowel is not stressed, we do not double it:
open - opened (Here the stress is on'o', not the 'e'.)
offer - offered ( Here the stress is on 'o', not the 'e'.)
Simple Past Tense Regular Verbs - ed Pronunciation
We pronounce / t / after voiceless sounds: / p /, / k /, / s /, / f / , /sh/, /ch/
stop = stopped
look = looked
wash = washed
watch = watched
We pronounce / d / after voiced sounds: / b / , / g /, / v /, / z/ , / m/ ,
/n /, / l /, / r / , and all vowels.

We pronounce / id / after / d / and / t / sounds.
decide = decided
want = wanted

LINKING WORDS- SO/BECAUSE
With these connectors you can express the reason that something had
happened or the consequence of the previous action.
SO: you can use this connector to talk about the consequence of the
previous action. For example:
He likes football, so he went to the match.
BECAUSE: you can use this connector to talk about the reason for that
we had done something. For example:
He went to the match because he likes football.
