Assumption & Limitations
Use Case:
Consider there are around 7000 teachers in rural areas where there is no or limited connectivity who need to take this
offline test. Now lets suppose there will be some 700 laptop devices/mobile devices provided to them and hence each
device will be used by around 10 or more teachers to take the test by logging in with their username and password.
Before we send the devices to these rural areas we will login as admin and sync the system with internet to download
the tests. Now what we need is:
1. After syncing with the internet for the first time with any user login; test should be available offline when other
teachers login using the same laptop offline.
2. Multiple attempts should not be allowed in some cases; admin must have the rights to restrict the number of attempts
for each test.
3. All the test results must be synced with our online system and grade books linked with all user profiles should be
updated with the results.

Live moodle is installed online available on
internet or LAN
Laptop or PC can be connected through
internet for Offline application configuration or
synchronization
Once Laptop or PC are configured online it
will be ready for offline use
Laptop or PC having problem in internet
connection can import data from external
storage device

Admin can login to the configuration section
using online moodle admin password (should
be connected to internet)
Once logged in he/she can do following
Configure system : Add user to application
with allowed course and test for offline
assessment.
Synchronize attempts : synchronize all
existing attempts inside current application
Cleanup the application (all attempt and quiz
data will be gone)

Once configured all the users that are
allowed for application can login to view their
allowed course and test
Based on quiz configuration (attempts, time)
user can attempt their quiz
After attempt is done user can logout to be
used for other user

User interface
Assumption:
●
All systems/laptops are supporting HTML5 based browser and are well enough to handle web2.0 based application
●
System has no issue in internet connection
●
Username generated at the time of system configuration are not be deleted before sync
●
Same for quiz , they are deleted or changed (change in option or statement) before sync
●
Settings at the time of configuration are same as at the time of sync *
●
Admin will check for quiz content on offline system before handing over to candidate.*
●
Assuming that Time taken for quiz is not too much critical*
●
Application will use system timestamp for question attempt tracking.

Limitations:
●
Current system can support limited question type format (MCQ, short answer , true false)*
●
Embedded images in question statement / option are supported but url based images are not supported
●
Same for any other online resources referred in question will not be available for offline
●
Number of attempts allowed for given question should be defined at the time of configuration.
●
Online attempt should not be allowed once its available for offline . It can cause problem with limited attempts type
quiz
●
Although we can track time taken for quiz attempt but can't guaranty its authenticity . (user may change the system
time)
●
Although we can instruct users to attempt in one go (i.e. should leave the system only after finishing the current quiz
attempt) but we can't control that (system may crash/hang/powerout etc or user can use may other ways to kill
application )
