1. ROLE OF EDUCATION IN BUILDING AND INDEPENDENT HUMAN
CHARACTER
The existence of a nation is determined by the character who owned the nation. Only a strong
nation that has a strong character that can make itself as the nation's dignity and respected by other
nations. Character education should be implemented early on, because in this age proved decisive in a
child's ability to develop its potential.
Character education is an attempt to educate one's character development that includes
kejiawaan, moral and human character to become an independent and better. Character education
should also be able to integrate well in building the personality of the students. With the character of
education, at least in the educational process to build human character. In other words, education is
not only a success in terms of the academic sector but also morality can be developed well in the
young generation today. But for the success of the education itself, not centered deri factor alone
teachers and learning facilities. But the participation of communities and families, especially the
elderly were also instrumental in the success of this character education.
Implementation of character education, is the hope of all parties in order to give birth to new
beings that address the challenges of the times, and also it can give birth to young, independent and
responsible. In other words, build the human character is an effort to improve and enhance the
awareness of behavior that includes customs, cultural values, potential, kamampuan, talents and
minds of our nation. It is to realize human character takes time and effort.
I hope that by holding this character education may produce new beings into beings of
Indonesian character, independent, noble character and noble character.
