Not that the lack of sequels is derailing any of the anticipation for the following films. Captain
America: The First Avenger, the last in the line of character films to be released in the lead up to
the mega super team movie The Avengers is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Judd
Apatow is also offering a new film from his production company, with Bridesmaids promising to be
as rude and crude as ever.
Get ready to for a slate of both new and familiar material in the month of July!

Bridesmaids
The Stars: Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Bryne

2. Go See Movies: July 2011 - inSing.com 6/18/12 5:49 AM
The Buzz: Bridesmaids managed to rake in US$26 million on its
opening weekend in the US, despite having no leading star in
their cast. The script was also co-written by lead actress Kristen
Wiig.
The Story: Judd Apatow’s latest production takes his reputation
as a “dude” film-maker and flips it over. Instead of a bunch of
slackers, we get a film centered around a motley crew of females
and their adventures in preparing for a friend’s wedding. Channel
every woman’s insecurities (being left single, partner not
measuring up and so on) and mix it up with a healthy dose of
gross out gags and R-rated jokes? Gold!
Also Opening: Larry Crowne reunites Tom Hanks and Julia
Roberts. In this colourful film, Tom plays the role of Larry, a
classic big shot who falls back to Earth and heads back to
college. Julia Roberts plays a drunken teacher (!?) who’s lost
motivation for life in general. Also opening is Disney Nature’s
documentary, African Cats. Narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, the Experts
film proceeds were donated towards the African Wildlife

Wu Xia
The Stars: Donnie Yen, Takeshi Kaneshiro
The Buzz: Wu Xia has garnered favourable reviews at the
renowned Cannes Film Fest and it seems like it’ll be able to offer
not just the action but also the story that will thrill moviegoers
who appreciate Kung Fu movies.
The Story: The plot of Wu Xia centres on the two leading actors’
characters. When Donnie Yen’s paper maker character easily
defeats and kills a pair of thugs trying to rob a store, Takeshi’s
OCD-fuelled character starts to believe there is more to it than
meets the eye. That starts a cat and mouse detective story that
drives much of the film forward.
Also Opening: Hanna, the tale of a sixteen year old female
assassin is also opening. Saoirse Ronan kicks ass as the titular

Captain America: The First Avenger
The Stars: Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving
The Buzz: The final piece, the leader of the Avengers! call him
whatever you want. Captain America will finally take his place on
the silver screen on the 28th of July. And after that, we’ll gladly
bring on The Avengers.
The Story: Following in the footsteps of Thor which explored the
new world of Asgard, this film explores the compassionate origin
story of Steve Rogers, a weak young man who became the
perfect specimen of a super soldier. It’s set in World War 2 and
will feature Cap and Bucky battling both Red Skull and his Nazi
henchmen!
Also Opening: Brighton Rock, a story about a small time crook
named Pinkie and his rise to the top of the seedy Brighton
