3. Password Protection
The Switchgear Password must be
entered in order to change some settings
via the panel.
If a password protected field is selected
for change the user is prompted for the
password.
4. Entering the Switchgear Password
The Switchgear Password can be up to
five characters in length and is entered in
the following way:
The <- -> keys are pressed until the
first character of the password is
displayed.
The SELECT key is then pressed.
This sequence is repeated until the
complete password is displayed.
The password is entered with the
ENTER or MENU key.
– The default password is CAPM
– Password remains active until
panel shuts down.

The Switchgear Password can only be
changed via WSOS while On-line.
Changing the Switchgear Password
requires the WSOS ‘System’ password.

9. Password Control
WSOS Passwords can be changed and time out
options set via the Change Passwords dialogue
box.
Time Out Options available are:
No Password Time Out - Once entered
correctly that password will never expire.
Password Times Out After - Once entered
correctly that password will expire after the
entered number of minutes.
Require Password Every Time - The
password is required to be entered every time.

11. Multiple Operator Passwords
This feature allows up to 10 unique
operator passwords to be configured.
Each operator password has a unique
user name.
The user name is a maximum of 20
characters.
The operator password is a maximum of
10 characters.
Only the ‘active’ passwords will be tested
when an operator is entered.
Any of the ten passwords can be used.

Active – Enables or disables this user name and password.
User Name – Allows the user name to be configured.

Definition:
One secure password stored in the CAPM
and used to control remote Write Access to
the CAPM via WSOS through a remote

The Switchgear Remote Access Password factory default is
000000 and can be changed remotely via WSOS.
The Switchgear Remote Access Password can be changed for
an individual switchgear or multiple switchgears.

The Write Acces Password is stored in the CAPM and requested by
WSOS when…..?
When a remote operator attempts to change a setting or operate the
switchgear.
Editor's Notes
The Switchgear Password is displayed by WSOS on the Configuration screen whenever the current password level is equal to ‘System’. Otherwise ‘****’ is displayed.
To change this password, click in the Switchgear Password field and enter the ‘System’ password if prompted.
Providing the ‘System’ password has not timed out, the new Switchgear Password will be displayed.
The previous WSOS password system was hierarchical.
The System password was the highest level and the others was as shown in the order above.
If the System password had already been entered, the lower level passwords would not be requested.
The Write Access password is different to the WSOS passwords.
The Write access password is actually stored in the CAPM but requested by WSOS if a user attempts to change settings or operate the switchgear via a remote port.
The System password is still the highest level of the WSOS passwords.
Operator, Protection and Telecontrol passwords are the same level.
Password Control is only available through the Customise menu when WSOS is off-line and all of the windows are closed.
This Switchgear - Change the switchgear remote access password for this switchgear only.
This Working Directory - Change the switchgear remote access passwords for all the switchgears contained in this directory.
Old Switchgear Remote Access Password - Enter the old switchgear remote access password. The default password is 000000 (six zeros).
Confirm Old Switchgear Remote Access Password - Enter the old switchgear remote access password to ensure it was entered correctly.
New Switchgear Remote Access Password - Enter the new switchgear remote access password.
Confirm New Switchgear Remote Access Password - Enter the new switchgear remote access password to ensure it was entered correctly.
Passed - This is a list of all the switchgears that had their switchgear remote access password changed.
Failed - This is a list of all the switchgears where their switchgear remote access password was not changed. This could be due to failed to establish communications, or the old switchgear remote access password was incorrect.
Number Processed - This is a display of the number of switchgears processed so far.
Status Information - This is a status display of the current progress.
Start Button - Pressing this button will start the logic to change the switchgear remote access password. When this button is pressed all the other controls are disabled (except the help button) and the text on this button is changed to Stop.
Stop Button - Pressing this button will stop changing the switchgear remote access password. All the controls are enabled. and the text on this button changes back to Start.
