Persuasive Essay On Water And Gold
Money is nothing more than a governmental structure where people are forced to accept the fact that a thin slip of paper holds essential value. For
instance, to society, water and gold have two different values, as well as two different functions. Although water is a sustenance, gold is somehow
worth more. If humans had no concept of value, we would be less intelligent than monkeys, because even they can understand the difference of value
between food and dirt. Different countries have created their own form of currency, the modern dollar bill being created by the United States
government. Therefore, the government has the ability to do whatever they wish because they can print more paper money, and ultimately devalue the
dollar any time they want.
This creates a problem. Eventually, if the government continues to devalue the dollar, more will become poor, and majority of American citizens will
be living in poverty. Therefore, we must prepare for this outcome. Objections may include that "Obama fixed everything that was wrong with
America," or that "Trump will make America Great Again." As unpleasant as preparing for an economic collapse sounds, it is something we must do.
You might be thinking that if all of your debts are wiped out during an economic collapse, you might as well live it up now, but that will only create
chaos within the country.
I now propose to you a solution, and furthermore, a way to prepare. I urge readers to focus on the five basics – food, water,

Alex Scott Influences
There are many people that are influential in the world. Those people impact the world in a positive way by them being nice, donating things needed
and making a difference. For example, an individual that shows these traits would be Alexandra Scott. Alex is influential because of her
accomplishments, admirable qualities, and heroic acts.
One of Alex Scott's accomplishments that made her influential is her raising over 1 million dollars for cancer research. In the article 8 amazing kids
who have changed the world, it says "Alex continued her lemonade stands throughout her life, ultimately raising over $1 million toward cancer

In the article, 8 amazing kids who have changed the world, it says "In 2000, just after turning 4 years old, she informed her mother she wanted to
start a lemonade stand to raise money for doctors to "help other kids, like they helped me."" This shows that an admirable quality that made Alex
influential is her being a caring kid because she wanted to do something to help others. In addition, in the article Meet our founder: Alexandra Scott, It
says ". She told her mother, "When I get out of the hospital, I want to have a lemonade stand." She wanted to give the money to doctors to allow
them to "help other kids, like they helped me." This shows that an admirable quality that made Alex influential is her being a caring kid because she
wanted to help people. As said on How one girl's lemonade stand has raised $80 million and changed lives, "Although she lost her fight in 2004, Alex
started a movement. The Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation – celebrating its 10th anniversary this weekend – has inspired others across the country to
raise more than $80 million for cancer research." This quote shows that an admirable quality that made Alex influential is her being a caring kid

Dollar Tree: A Case Study
Dollar Tree is now the largest U.S. Discount chain, due to its recent acquisition of its rival, Family Dollar in 2015 (Much, 2016). To maintain its
position and remain successful, Dollar Tree "needs to get a better performance from its Family Dollar Store outlets, which were struggling prior to the
merger" (Much, 2016, para. 2). Merging with Family Dollar now enhances Dollar Tree's range of customers, new markets, market shares, financial
performance, and improve growth prospects (Much, 2016). Additionally, this acquisition anticipates generating significant synergy opportunities and
free cash flow to pay off debts (Guiler, 2015, para. 13 & 14).
Dollar Tree believes the "acquisition will extend our reach to low–income customers while strengthening and diversifying our footprint (Peralta, 2015,
para. 4). The combination would "operate more than 13,000 stores in 48 states and five Canadian provinces, with sales exceeding $19 billion annually
and over 145,000 associates" (Guiler, 2015, para.9). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Family Dollar is a strong company it had been underperforming. Straying from its customer base was the identified cause. Family Dollar
was charging too much "and opening stores in suburban areas" (Walzer, 2015, para. 9). Bob Sasser, CEO of Dollar Tree, acknowledges that Family
Dollar's mistakes were due to the company's management. Therefore, not only was the merger an attempt to correct mistakes but also provide a
"transformational opportunity to serve more customers in more ways with more products . . . . Strategically, it ensures our future for many, many,
many years to come" (Walzer, 2015, para.

1. Evaluate Family Dollar's retail strategy. Will it work in both good and bad economic times?
Family Dollar's retail strategy will work in both good and bad economic times. The company's mission: is to provide our customers with a
compelling place to shop, our team members with a compelling place to work, and our investors with a compelling place to invest. Our vision is to be
the best, small format convenience and value retailer serving the needs of families in our neighborhoods. (Family Dollar 2012 Annual Report) During

The biggest con is decreased selections. People will not have a variety of items to choose from. They will also not be able to compare which is the
cheapest or the best products for their families. Even though there will not be a variety of products to choose from, consumers will have lower prices
due more bargaining power that Family Dollar will have with suppliers. This will simplify its ordering and re–stocking process this will keep shelves
from being empty. Even though Family Dollar is decreasing the number of brands they are carrying, they are increasing the products that are stocked
by each brand.
3. Describe Family Dollar's competitive advantages and disadvantages with respect to competition from conventional supermarkets and box stores.
Family Dollar has a big competitive advantage over supermarkets and box stores. The same products that the supermarkets and box stores carry,
Family Dollar sells to its customers for a cheaper price. Family Dollar stores are conveniently located in your local neighborhoods within walking or a
short driving distance. Most supermarkets and box stores you have to fight with crowds and parking in a larger shopping district. Family dollar not

My Target 's Floor Pl How They Use Adjacencies Within Both...
For this assignment, I decided to visit Target while I was in New Braunfels to examine how they use adjacencies within both their women's and
men's clothing section. As well as, seeing the career wear section for both sexes and how it is merchandised for the shopper. The retail industry is the
kind of business that has a very high level of competition. Knowing this, retailers realize the importance of these attributes and why they are needed in
order to create an ambience that will attract the market they are targeting. Merchandisers have strategically placed items together in hopes that
shoppers will choose to grab that cardigan because it would go perfectly with the lace top that is placed next to it or that pair of leggings because it...

It's stimulating to see how they used gender stereotypes when designing their floor plan because they know women love to buy clothing and accessories
which is why those are next to one another, and they know that men love electronics and gaming which is why those are placed beside one another, as
well. By using adjacencies in their floor plans, they are presenting an intended route for their shoppers. Personally, whenever I shop at Target, I
typically walk the same route of the dollar section, women's clothing, women's clearance, shoes, athletics, and the lastly, the beauty section. Target
understands what their consumers want, and I never walk out empty handed. Target has a story behind the way that they would plan out their floorplan
because they know the shopper and have placed items respectively to one another. They have designed there store to be a one–stop store, everything
that you will need in one place and at a low price. In college towns, you will find that they position their team colors closer to the front of the
section, which connects the shopper with the store. At Target, you are able to complete your outfit all in one place at a low price, and the use of
adjacencies gives an ambience for the shopper while he or she is shopping. I believe that Target has been successful in the use of adjacencies in their
floorplans because shoppers follow the route that has been designed for

A Short Story : A Story?
My fists curled into a ball. The blood pooling in my hands as I squeezed my fingernails into my palm made me whimper. I could feel the blood
rushing to my face as it turned bright red. "Leave me alone!" I screamed, my voice cracking as tears welled in my eyes. I spun around and grabbed
the door handle, jerking it open. "Rachel!" I heard her scream before I stormed out. That was the biggest fight I had ever had with my mom. I stayed
outside until 9 o'clock that night. I only slipped into the house when I knew she would be fast asleep. I lept into bed, exhausted, and slept the whole
night through knowing I'd wake up to an empty house....
Rachel woke up that day, deciding to treat it like any other. The hot 90 degree Florida weather had made the outside a little less appealing, but she
didn't care. She grasped the strands of her long dark hair, combing it with her fingers as she wrapped a light magenta ponytail holder around it. As she
stepped out the door the heat hit her like a kick in the gut. The sun beamed down on the hot earth, melting away her energy. Despite the heat she
walked down the long walkway, and into the driveway, to open the garage door.
Dodging spiderwebs and dust, Rachel looked around the room for her bike. After she found it she picked it up by the electric blue frame, and carried it
out of the garage. Putting her hands on the handlebars she felt the squishy, transparent, grip. She swung her leg around the bike, sitting on the smooth,
black, leather seat.

U.s. Dollar Generals ( Dgs )
Views from the DG Dollar Generals (DGs) are popping up left and right. DGs are now in our backwards challenging all of our local businesses.
Working at the DGs is not a hard job once the store is stocked and ready for business. I used to see DGs as where "sorry people" worked because
overtime, people get lazy and let the DGs go and make it look almost impossible to get it back looking nice again. But that was until my buddies and
I started working at the new DG in Ino. We are all there to make money to have for gas, keep girlfriends happy (which seems almost impossible to
do), and other expenses. We are determined to keep our DG up and running great with no dirty isles, no items stuck behind others, and no rude
employees. Dollar General is the place to shop because it has a good trained staff, a friendly–clean environment, and cheaper products to bring in more
business. A store's staff is like columns, holding up the stores foundation from mayhem. To be part of a staff anywhere you have to be determined
for whatever before you walk into the doors of that particular business to work for. If you have a store with employees working for you and they are
not trained, they won't have a clue what tasks they are there to complete. Trained employees is a key to success in a business. The manager of the DG

Family Dollar and Dollar General Essays
Family Dollar was established in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1959 by a 21 year old entrepreneur named Leon Levine. He was interested in operating
a low–overhead, self–service retail store. Levine's main goal was to offer a variety of high quality merchandise to customers for under $2.00 (Family
Dollar: History). If everything in the store wasn't a dollar to begin with why did he name the store Family DOLLAR? The fact is that any person can
be influenced in a different way just by the way someone words a sentence or phrase. A prime example of this is a Family Dollar store. The problem is
that Family Dollar doesn't sale everything in their store for a dollar, like a Dollar Tree does. Dollar Tree is seen to be one of the very few true... Show

The usage of words in the title of a store could cause customers to go into a state thinking that something is possible but it is not. Most stores lean
towards the usage of cognitive grammar to bait their customers in to make a business. A prime example of cognitive grammar is Family Dollar,
which would make customers think that everything in the store is a dollar. Cognitive grammar is used to make people think what you want them to
think. If a person says, "Don't think of a nice car", what are you going to think about? Everyone is going to think about different types of nice cars,
even though the person said not to.
Dollar General and Family Dollar are not what they claim to be in the view of their customers. As for some items in Dollar General and Family
Dollar are seen to be marked up more compared to the same item of better quality at a Walmart Store. If the items bought at a "dollar" store are a dollar
there is more likely of a chance that the item will be of low value in the first place, but not all the time. In the true dollar stores like Dollar Tree,
there are a lot of "here and there" items that are very well worth a dollar to many people, others not so good of a deal. The same "here and there" items
at a Family Dollar or Dollar General are usually known to not be a dollar, but the items are still sold to customers that

Since 1959, Family Dollar has been operating their business by targeting lower to median income families. Throughout the good and bad economic
times Family Dollar retail strategy works since this company adapts their product choice with the buying capacity of the customer. Family Dollar had
analyzed in detail to determine the shopping behavior of the buyer amid the bad economy. Understanding the basic needs obtain from the lower
income family and the essential commodity of products in the likes of cleaning supplies or refrigerated foods from the median income family. The
store achieved success throughout economic recession by striving to be the leading convenience store as a value retailer to meet the wants and needs
from the consumers. The store's goal was to supply the customers of the business with irresistible and useful place to shop. At the point of economic
downfall, the lower income families reduced the amount of products purchased which Family Dollar made the determination to market the median

Financial Crisis And Its Effects On Economic Growth
The late half of 1997 and the early parts of 1998 presented the world with one of the world's most famous financial crises. This financial crisis proved
to be detrimental mainly to the south–eastern Asian area, including South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia. The
aforementioned south–eastern states recorded astounding economic growth in the preceding decade. The downfall of the economy caused a domino
effect in the local markets and currency markets of each country. The nations' leaders, as a result, had to request assistance from the IMF. Politics were
important in creating the financial boom, but they were also guilty of the subsequent consequences. Similar to a number of financial crises in the past,
the Asian financial crisis came to be as a result of unexpected economic growth. The countries were all under the influence of a number of different
economic criteria, such as cheap yet fairly well educated labour, lowered barriers to trade, and economies based heavily on exports. Even Malaysia
enjoyed bountiful foreign direct investment. All of these elements came together to make Asia dominant force in exports. This was proven by the fact
that none of the countries affected by the crisis experienced of export growth lower than 12% between 1990 and 1996. Not only did these countries
experience rapid growth in exports, the nature of the exports where product types are concerned also changed. The products evolved from simple

At this point, Family Dollar was probably a better stock to invest in. Dollar General had also experienced a decrease in total assets over this period
while Family Dollar's assets increased by nearly 25 percent. The accounting errors that took place accompanied with lawsuits that followed played a
major role in some these numbers for Dollar General. I believe that both companies performed well financially. If it wasn't for the lawsuits, Dollar
General probably would have performed much better financially then Family Dollar. Based on the factors mentioned above, it's hard to say who
performed better financially. Dollar General's net income may have been higher but they had a loss in total assets and also had a much lower EPS. 2.
What is your assessment of the accounting problems at Dollar General? Did anything unethical occur? What evidence indicates that the misstatements

Walmart is the largest retailer in the world and is the second largest retailer, behind Amazon, in the United States. The majority of households in
America shop at Walmart on a regular basis. However, Dollar General and Family Dollar have increasingly gained market–share over the years. Both
stores are considered extreme value retailers. By definition, extreme value retailers are small, full–line discount stores that offer a limited merchandise
assortment at very low prices.
In 2005, Goodlettsville, Tennessee–based Dollar General had over 7,500 stores in 30 states and more than $7 billion in sales. The company has grown

Dollar General and Family Dollar stores are typically much smaller than other discount retailers like Walmart and Kmart, averaging 6,000 to 8,000
square feet in size. This allows the retailers to easily find good locations in almost any market they choose to enter. Most of their stores are located in
small towns in the Southeast where the companies are headquartered. However, more recently they are opening stores in suburban area strip shopping
centers in retail spaces abandoned by drugstores that have moved to stand–alone locations. In the past, Dollar General and Family Dollar stores were
typically only found in low–income communities or in areas that were too small to support a large discount store like Walmart or Kmart. The residents
of these communities appreciated the convenience they offered.
While both retailers still advertise using sales circulars, they have reduced their overall advertising expenses in recent years. This has allowed both
companies to make significant money–saving investments in point–of–sale terminals, store–level inventory tracking systems, automated distribution
centers, space allocation software and replenishment systems to reduce stockouts and increase inventory turnover.

Summary Of ' Last Friday Kirk '
Last Tuesday Kirk was hanging out around Andy's Bar. Every day was miserable for the loathsome Beggar and today started out just as miserable as
the rest. While he was sitting against the door to Andy's Bar, Kirk held a sign, begging for money and food. Kirk watched each person walk by him.
Many ignored him while others looked at him with disgust. After a few hours, Kirk accumulated no more than two dollars and a half–eaten biscuit.
Kirk was disappointed––two dollars wasn't even enough to get a glass of his favorite ale! Amid this failure, Kirk noticed a man with a fine jacket
standing in front of him. The man looked about 30 years of age, didn't speak a word, and dropped something into the Beggar 's hat. The man walked
away and just as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Where did you steal that money from, Kirk?" "I didn't steal it––just get me something to drink." A customer of the bar chimed in: "He didn't steal the
money. He must have been prostituting again." Another patron said, "Who would want that disgusting thing?" "Maybe his mother!" The bar bursted
into laughter. Kirk didn't care; it was common for him to be the joke of the bar. "Shut–up, everybody", said Andy. "What do you want Kirk?" Kirk
handed Andy the wad of hundred dollar bills and asked for every bottle of Bud Light in the bar.
After a few hours of drinking, the Beggar was drunk. Kirk sat in the corner of the bar, seemingly in his own world, accompanied only by his beer. As
the hours passed, one brave soul approached Kirk. "Excuse me sir", said the old man. "Would you mind giving me one of your beers over there––I
seem to have forgotten my wallet at my house." "Huh?", replied the Beggar. "What do you want?" "I am kindly asking for you to share one of your
beers with me." "Sure", replied the Beggar. "I'll share one of my beers with you." The Beggar reached across the table and grabbed at one of the
beers. He opened it. "Here you go!" Just as the old man was reaching for the beer from Kirk's hands, Kirk poured the beer all over the poor man.
"How dare you!", said the old man. The Beggar laughed aloud and proceeded to punch the old man right out of his seat. The old man was stunned. "It's

Descriptive Essay About A Fair Party
Fair Party 2017 The lamp post lights are shining down on us as were sitting on benches in a little circle. It's nighttime out at the 2017 Fulton
County Fair. Groups of people are lining up to get into the fair for the Loverboy and Survivor Classic Rock concert. A few hours later the concert
will be over and people will be going home. That means it's time to pull the "money trick" on people as they leave the concert later. My friends and
I are at a party at my cousins camper. "Hey guys!" said my cousin nick and all his friends. "Hey," me, Gracie, Bekah, and Kenzie said. As they were
walking towards us you could hear the loud slurping of them all drinking their milkshakes. Nick introduced me, Gracie and Kenzie to all his
friends. His friends names were Brock, Payton, Ethan, Cody, and Trey. After we all introduced ourselves to each other we walked over to a big
area with bases. "Who should be on each team," Nick asked. "I don't care let's just make them even," Gracie said. We all divided ourselves up into
teams and started playing. My Team was in the field while Nick's team was up to kick. Nick was the first kicker up, and I was pitching. Gracie,
Kenzie, Cody, and Ethan were behind me getting ready for Nick to kick. I pitch nick the ball then "wham!" The kickball went right into Gracie's
face. It hit her pretty good. We took a timeout until we decided to go back to the camper and do something else. When we got back there about a hour
left until the concert was over. " Do you

My Job As A Csr At Family Dollar Essay
I am excited about this assignment because I hate my job. I currently work as a CSR at Family Dollar. I started there about a week after school ended
and I started hating it a week or so later. I kept the job because I get paid weekly and my hours are good. I also kept this job because its hard finding
jobs when I return home for the summer. The work setting causes me stress. A poor relationship with my boss is the number one issue in this setting.
The store has been through three assistant managers and four employees since I've began working there. The store manager is the main reason
the company can't hold on to workers. She is rude, lazy, and she over works you. The workload is overbearing and the time pressure makes it
much harder. For instance, every task she gives is timed and she constantly nags about how long its taking you regardless of how hard the task
may be. Putting out stock is timed, but the amount of time given to you is hard to make. I don't mind working hard at a fast pace, but some of the
tasks she requires is extreme. I worked at a previous family dollar and my task was four totes before my shift ended. She requires five totes an hour
and says that's company's policy. She doesn't help on register even if the line is long. She doesn't help recover or do any stock, she doesn't do
anything, but dictate how you do your job. She doesn't communicate well with others; most people see her as rude. As you can see the store manager is

Life After Death : Short Story
Life After Death: When Hardship Confronts Forever
A soft hand of a patient slithers through a field of IV's and other medical tubing until it finally reaches it's destination – my hand. With prolonged
tenderness, a thumb caressed my hand, making small circles in a caring manner as an expression of human empathy. As her cracked lips pivoted
skyward, she closed her eyes and returned to her placid state where she thought of her son, and how much time she would have left with him. The only
thing that comforted her in this moment were the words we shared. She was a young mother with cancer, and the pain she was going through was
palpable.
"Do you wish to go through with this" I said.
"Yes, I do. It is for the better" Saraya replied. A look of profound sadness had swept over her face. We both knew this was inevitable. Her son would live
his life without a mother at his side. A cascade of warmth flowed down both our faces.
Josiah could only look at his mother with a gaze of unsurmountable grief. "Why did God let you have cancer, why didn't he prevent this?"
"My son, I know it is hard." Saraya paused trying to catch her breathe. "You must know that God is good, and everything he has created is good."
"But you're in so much pain! I'll be all alone! Why does this have to happen! How is this even good!" Josiah screamed.
"Josiah, all these moments will be lost in time like tears in rain" Saraya replied softly. "I don't have the answers that will make everything all better, but

Minimum Wage And Magical Thinking Opinion
Minimum Wage and Magical Thinking Opinion In the reading of Minimum wage and magical thinking he discusses that raising the minimum wage
would have a negative impact and would actually hurt those that it is supposed to help and I would agree. Raising the minimum wage would cause
inflation to rise, thus basically canceling out what it was intended to do and making the US dollar worth less. Secondly, minimum wage increase would
cause the price of goods to rise and then less people will be buying so, then you are paying employees more and making less revenue. Lastly, this
would hurt the very people that raising the minimum wage is intended to help because the number of jobs that are entry level or low skilled will
drop and then people who were making a 7.25 minimum wage will now be earning a 0 dollar wage. Minimum wage does not need to increase,
especially not as drastic as some people are calling for and the positive outcome that is thought it would produce actually would be doing more harm
than good. If the minimum wage were to rise inflation in turn would rise too as Issac Newton's third law says for every action there is an equal and
opposite reaction. The general idea is to pay people more money, but not to increase the cost of goods which in a perfect world that may work, but
this is the real world and that isn't how it works. If for example, McDonalds starts paying their minimum wage employees 10.10 nationwide in turn

Mr. Brown readily admitted that he was not at ease discussing the most recent approaches to risk reduction or hedging. He had received his MBA
from Harvard in the 1960s and had spent most of his career working for a company that had little international exposure. Moreover, he was not familiar
with derivatives such as currency options, which until recently were not widely traded. However, Mr. Brown had recently hired an assistant, Mr.
Dan Pross, who had some knowledge of hedging and derivatives. As a student at UCLA, Mr. Pross had traded various types of derivatives for his
own portfolio and was familiar with how they were traded. Although Mr. Pross did not have a finance background, he was, in Mr. Brown's opinion,
extremely intelligent and highly capable. Mr. Brown suggested that Mr. Pross make a presentation to the senior management on the use of
derivatives to reduce risk. The presentation was scheduled for the first week of December 1990. Mr. Pross outlined the use of various derivatives,
noting that they differed widely in their ability to reduce risk. If the company was, say, placing a large bid to buy a building abroad, one might prefer
to use foreign currency options to hedge the currency risk in the event the deal fell through. He argued, however, that foreign currency futures were best
suited to hedge the fluctuations in revenues arising from currency movements. Mr. Pross proposed a plan to hedge currency risk using futures which

The Gender Wage Gap
Identity and Definition of the Social Problem The author identifies the social problem as the gender wage gap, which is the difference of women's
wages compared to men's for performing the same work or job. The gender wage gap is recognized on a federal level and by the National Association
of Social Workers (NASW) (The Wage Gap, State by State, 2017). There are many potential causes of thegender wage gap (Stevenson, 2014). Some
causes may include the fact that policies have been enacted to encourage women to remain in the workforce, but paid sick and family leave often
result in a woman's lifelong earnings to suffer. Additionally, because women tend to negotiate less, they are less likely than men to receive
promotions and/or raises but are more likely to be penalized for taking that initiative. Some skeptics of the gender wage gap claim that the gap
mainly exists because factors other than gender, such as education and work experience affect a woman's wages (Schieder & Gould, 2016). While
education and work experience do rightfully affect a person's wages, men are still being paid more than women despite women obtaining more
education. Many critics shift the blame to women for not earning more, but women are usually victims of gender bias in the workplace.
The History of the Social Problem The gender wage gap is not a new issue. The gap traces back at least to the 1960's when women earned 60.7% of
every dollar of a man's earnings for the same work (The Wage Gap Over

Porsche Exposed
1) Do you believe that Porsche's management is appropriately concerned with stockholder wealth? Does Porsche's ownership structure work to the
benefit or detriment of public shareholders?
Although Porsche is publicly traded, the company is controlled by only two stockholders, the Porsche and PiГ©ch families. As the quotation by
Holger Härter makes clear, the two families hold exclusive shareholder influence over management. An interesting point for class discussion is
whether the families actually ever exercise these rights. It is not clear from the information or evidence presented that they influence or direct current

The objective would be to match dollar cash inflows from US sales with dollar cash outflows in US dollar debt service (principal and interest).
Porsche has chosen not to use this approach most likely because it does not "do debt." The firm has not needed debt to finance its operating activities
and investing activities under the current management team (since 1993), and it also does not philosophically believe in using debt (see page 5 of the
case). A good point of discussion with students, however, is that a company does not necessarily need debt to use debt. The benefits of leverage are
well known, and although many successful companies today do not choose to use debt (Intel, Dell, Exxon–Mobil, Microsoft to name a few), this does
not necessarily prevent Porsche from revisiting this judgement. The benefit of using a financing hedge like dollar–denominated debt is that it would
take less active management and would not require a major outlay of capital out front like currency options require (option premiums).
Current Strategy. The company has been hedging the US dollar long position by estimating its annual US dollar sales and hedging that exposure by
purchasing put options on the US dollar (the right to sell US dollars for euros at a specific exchange rate). The company has been purchasing these
options in what it refers to as a "three–year rolling hedge" in which it hedges expected US dollar sales three years out

In most of the cases which involved the management of new ideas and the observed relationships in comparison with the bond prices, the firm adopted
changing models in the style of its management. This is appropriate because the variables in the market usually change and adopting one model may
not be the suitable move to take.
The strategies which are used by this company are not advantageous in the sense that most of the corporate debts in the organization usually carry
considerable amounts of higher yields. Producing above average returns in the organization, with risk set a lower level than the normal risks would be
an appropriate strategy which has to be used.
The outlook for changes in interest rates
The weak economic growth in Asia ad in Europe has helped in benefiting Canada and the US. Asia and Europe had also faced deflationary pressures
which were caused by the changes in the rates of interest rates in the economy. The risk of the inflationary pressure in the US led to the increasing
concern of the federal reserves. The Canadian bonds have been trading at a considerably lower yield as compared to the US bonds in the market. The
situation was supposed to be maintained if the Canadian dollars in the economy appreciated relatively to those of the US dollars in the economy. The
outlook for the bonds in the economy looked to be very attractive an aspect which was attributed to the changes in

Persuasive Essay On Women Pay
If,for the same work, women make only 77 cents for every dollar a man makes, why don't business hire only women? Wages are the biggest expense
for most. So, hiring only women would reduce costs by nearly a quarter and that would go right to the bottom line. Don't business want to be profitable.
Or, are they just really bad at math? Well, actually,it's the feminists, celebrities and politicians spreading this wage gap myth who have the math
problem. Here's why. The 77–cents–on–the–dollar statistic is calculated by dividing the median earnings of all women working full–time by the median
earnings of all men working full–time. In other words, if the average income of all men is, say, 40,000 dollars a year, and the average of women is say
30,800 dollars, that would mean that women earn 77 cents for every dollar a man earns . These calculations do not reveal a gender wage injustice
because it doesn't take it into account occupation, position, education or hours worked per week. Even a study by the American Association of
University Women, a feminist organization, shows that the actual wage gap shrinks to only 6.6 cents when you factor in differents choices men and
women take. And the key word here is "choice". The small wage gap that does exist has nothing to do with paying women less, let alone with sexism
; it has to do with differences in career choices that men and women make. In 2009, the US Department of Labor released a paper that examined more
than 50 percent reviewed

Reflection Paper On Healthy Food
Healthy Food Community Outreach Project Reflection Paper
Our group the Kids Next Door was assigned to a Family Dollars Store in 901 Bridgewood Dr. Fort Worth, TX 76112 to conduct Healthy Food
Community Outreach survey. This Family Dollar Store opens at 9:00 am and close at 10:00 pm Monday through Sunday. So, on October 19, 2017,
Thursday at 9:00 am, our group went to conduct the survey. We enjoyed conducting this survey and it was a great opportunity to learn about healthy
food in our Tarrant county. As working with a group on this project, I have gained experiences in teamwork, communication, and exploration. Before
we went to conduct the survey, I was kind of afraid to go shopping there alone. I thought this neighborhood is dangerous and was not safe for a girl to
shopping there alone. However, after exploring the neighborhood Family Dollar store, my negative thoughts of this neighborhood were completely
changed.
The location of this Family Dollar store is across from Dollar General and about half a mile from this Family Dollar store, there is Albertson
supermarket. I also noticed there was a city bus stop nearby this Family Dollar store. I found this location as convenient for the residents and
access to public transportation is another factor that gives people transportation options to get to work and shopping. There were plenty of parking
spaces available for customers including accessible handicap parking spaces in front of the store and near the store entrance. The store environment
was clean, but I did not notice whether the trash bin was placed in front of the store or not. I arrived there a little bit early around 8:50 am and I saw
a few customers walked in the store ten minutes earlier than store open hour. It was kind of a surprise to see it because I did not expect the store
would allow the customer to walk into the store before the open hour.
Unfortunately, our group member Kayla could not join us for this survey. The rest our group members met in the parking on the survey day. We
brought the survey, but we forgot to bring a letter to show the store manager. However, the store staffs were friendly, and they allowed us to perform
the survey without a permission letter. This Family Dollar store

where an initiative Nicolas Maduro had in order to distribute the food and first need products in all communities, or at least that was what he said.

Maduro noticed that he needed the private sector to step in in order to cover the demand. The problem was that since the administration of Hugo
Chavez, Venezuelagovernment was the only identity that was allowed to exchange Bolivares to dollars; and the private sector needed dollars to
import the raw material to produce the food and first need products. The public sector wasn't able to buy dollars not only because the government
wasn't able to fulfill the dollars demand, but also because the bolivar suffered a colossal deprecation because the government over printed bills.
The private sector nor the government haven't been able to fulfill the food demand. This has generated a black market that traffics first need products
and sells them to outrageous prices. This black market has help to fulfill the demand, and to reduce the consequences and negatives outcomes the

things that the organization has acquired. The ideal goal of any business is for the assets to be greater than the liabilities (Cleverly et. al.). Duality
Duality is a simple mathematical equation or rather, it seems simple. The equation states, "The value of assets must always equal the combined
value of liabilities and residual interest, which we have called net assets." (Cleverly et. al. pg. 185 para.1) This requires balancing reports about
changes in either side of the equation. In health care, for instance, changes such as buying supplies, receiving payment for services, or paying the
electric bill are all transactions that require balancing the books, so to speak, so that the equation is still equal. Cost Valuation Cost Valuation can
be defined as choosing the right price for services, supplies and other things of value (Hutton, 2005). Choosing the right price may be based on the
history of what the entity has paid that is reflected by money measurement or may be based on other measures of what a cost should be (Cleverly et.
al.). Market value is a way to assess a cost value. This seems to be favorite way with many organizations. This method is not considered

Persuasive Essay On Water And Gold

  • 1. Persuasive Essay On Water And Gold Money is nothing more than a governmental structure where people are forced to accept the fact that a thin slip of paper holds essential value. For instance, to society, water and gold have two different values, as well as two different functions. Although water is a sustenance, gold is somehow worth more. If humans had no concept of value, we would be less intelligent than monkeys, because even they can understand the difference of value between food and dirt. Different countries have created their own form of currency, the modern dollar bill being created by the United States government. Therefore, the government has the ability to do whatever they wish because they can print more paper money, and ultimately devalue the dollar any time they want. This creates a problem. Eventually, if the government continues to devalue the dollar, more will become poor, and majority of American citizens will be living in poverty. Therefore, we must prepare for this outcome. Objections may include that "Obama fixed everything that was wrong with America," or that "Trump will make America Great Again." As unpleasant as preparing for an economic collapse sounds, it is something we must do. You might be thinking that if all of your debts are wiped out during an economic collapse, you might as well live it up now, but that will only create chaos within the country. I now propose to you a solution, and furthermore, a way to prepare. I urge readers to focus on the five basics – food, water, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Those people impact the world in a positive way by them being nice, donating things needed and making a difference. For example, an individual that shows these traits would be Alexandra Scott. In the article, 8 amazing kids who have changed the world, it says "In 2000, just after turning 4 years old, she informed her mother she wanted to start a lemonade stand to raise money for doctors to "help other kids, like they helped me."" This shows that an admirable quality that made Alex influential is her being a caring kid because she wanted to do something to help others. In addition, in the article Meet our founder: Alexandra Scott, It says ". She told her mother, "When I get out of the hospital, I want to have a lemonade stand." She wanted to give the money to doctors to allow them to "help other kids, like they helped me." This shows that an admirable quality that made Alex influential is her being a caring kid because she wanted to help people. As said on How one girl's lemonade stand has raised $80 million and changed lives, "Although she lost her fight in 2004, Alex started a movement. The Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation – celebrating its 10th anniversary this weekend – has inspired others across the country to raise more than $80 million for cancer research." This quote shows that an admirable quality that made Alex influential is her being a caring kid because she started something to help others. • 3. Dollar Tree: A Case Study Dollar Tree is now the largest U.S. Discount chain, due to its recent acquisition of its rival, Family Dollar in 2015 (Much, 2016). To maintain its position and remain successful, Dollar Tree "needs to get a better performance from its Family Dollar Store outlets, which were struggling prior to the merger" (Much, 2016, para. 2). Merging with Family Dollar now enhances Dollar Tree's range of customers, new markets, market shares, financial performance, and improve growth prospects (Much, 2016). Additionally, this acquisition anticipates generating significant synergy opportunities and free cash flow to pay off debts (Guiler, 2015, para. 13 & 14). Dollar Tree believes the "acquisition will extend our reach to low–income customers while strengthening and diversifying our footprint (Peralta, 2015, para. 4). The combination would "operate more than 13,000 stores in 48 states and five Canadian provinces, with sales exceeding $19 billion annually and over 145,000 associates" (Guiler, 2015, para.9). ... Family Dollar was charging too much "and opening stores in suburban areas" (Walzer, 2015, para. 9). Bob Sasser, CEO of Dollar Tree, acknowledges that Family Dollar's mistakes were due to the company's management. Therefore, not only was the merger an attempt to correct mistakes but also provide a "transformational opportunity to serve more customers in more ways with more products . . . . Family Dollar's retail strategy will work in both good and bad economic times. The company's mission: is to provide our customers with a compelling place to shop, our team members with a compelling place to work, and our investors with a compelling place to invest. Our vision is to be the best, small format convenience and value retailer serving the needs of families in our neighborhoods. They will also not be able to compare which is the cheapest or the best products for their families. Even though there will not be a variety of products to choose from, consumers will have lower prices due more bargaining power that Family Dollar will have with suppliers. This will simplify its ordering and re–stocking process this will keep shelves from being empty. Even though Family Dollar is decreasing the number of brands they are carrying, they are increasing the products that are stocked by each brand. 3. Describe Family Dollar's competitive advantages and disadvantages with respect to competition from conventional supermarkets and box stores. Family Dollar has a big competitive advantage over supermarkets and box stores. The same products that the supermarkets and box stores carry, Family Dollar sells to its customers for a cheaper price. Family Dollar stores are conveniently located in your local neighborhoods within walking or a short driving distance. Most supermarkets and box stores you have to fight with crowds and parking in a larger shopping district. • 5. My Target 's Floor Pl How They Use Adjacencies Within Both... For this assignment, I decided to visit Target while I was in New Braunfels to examine how they use adjacencies within both their women's and men's clothing section. As well as, seeing the career wear section for both sexes and how it is merchandised for the shopper. The retail industry is the kind of business that has a very high level of competition. Knowing this, retailers realize the importance of these attributes and why they are needed in order to create an ambience that will attract the market they are targeting. Merchandisers have strategically placed items together in hopes that shoppers will choose to grab that cardigan because it would go perfectly with the lace top that is placed next to it or that pair of leggings because it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It's stimulating to see how they used gender stereotypes when designing their floor plan because they know women love to buy clothing and accessories which is why those are next to one another, and they know that men love electronics and gaming which is why those are placed beside one another, as well. By using adjacencies in their floor plans, they are presenting an intended route for their shoppers. Personally, whenever I shop at Target, I typically walk the same route of the dollar section, women's clothing, women's clearance, shoes, athletics, and the lastly, the beauty section. Target understands what their consumers want, and I never walk out empty handed. Target has a story behind the way that they would plan out their floorplan because they know the shopper and have placed items respectively to one another. They have designed there store to be a one–stop store, everything that you will need in one place and at a low price. In college towns, you will find that they position their team colors closer to the front of the section, which connects the shopper with the store. At Target, you are able to complete your outfit all in one place at a low price, and the use of adjacencies gives an ambience for the shopper while he or she is shopping. I believe that Target has been successful in the use of adjacencies in their floorplans because shoppers follow the route that has been designed for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Short Story : A Story? My fists curled into a ball. The blood pooling in my hands as I squeezed my fingernails into my palm made me whimper. I could feel the blood rushing to my face as it turned bright red. "Leave me alone!" I screamed, my voice cracking as tears welled in my eyes. I spun around and grabbed the door handle, jerking it open. "Rachel!" I heard her scream before I stormed out. That was the biggest fight I had ever had with my mom. I stayed outside until 9 o'clock that night. I only slipped into the house when I knew she would be fast asleep. I lept into bed, exhausted, and slept the whole night through knowing I'd wake up to an empty house.... Rachel woke up that day, deciding to treat it like any other. The hot 90 degree Florida weather had made the outside a little less appealing, but she didn't care. She grasped the strands of her long dark hair, combing it with her fingers as she wrapped a light magenta ponytail holder around it. As she stepped out the door the heat hit her like a kick in the gut. The sun beamed down on the hot earth, melting away her energy. Despite the heat she walked down the long walkway, and into the driveway, to open the garage door. Dodging spiderwebs and dust, Rachel looked around the room for her bike. After she found it she picked it up by the electric blue frame, and carried it out of the garage. Putting her hands on the handlebars she felt the squishy, transparent, grip. She swung her leg around the bike, sitting on the smooth, black, leather seat. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. U.s. Dollar Generals ( Dgs ) Views from the DG Dollar Generals (DGs) are popping up left and right. DGs are now in our backwards challenging all of our local businesses. Working at the DGs is not a hard job once the store is stocked and ready for business. I used to see DGs as where "sorry people" worked because overtime, people get lazy and let the DGs go and make it look almost impossible to get it back looking nice again. But that was until my buddies and I started working at the new DG in Ino. We are all there to make money to have for gas, keep girlfriends happy (which seems almost impossible to do), and other expenses. We are determined to keep our DG up and running great with no dirty isles, no items stuck behind others, and no rude employees. Dollar General is the place to shop because it has a good trained staff, a friendly–clean environment, and cheaper products to bring in more business. A store's staff is like columns, holding up the stores foundation from mayhem. To be part of a staff anywhere you have to be determined for whatever before you walk into the doors of that particular business to work for. If you have a store with employees working for you and they are not trained, they won't have a clue what tasks they are there to complete. Trained employees is a key to success in a business. • 11. Family Dollar and Dollar General Essays Family Dollar was established in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1959 by a 21 year old entrepreneur named Leon Levine. He was interested in operating a low–overhead, self–service retail store. Levine's main goal was to offer a variety of high quality merchandise to customers for under $2.00 (Family Dollar: History). If everything in the store wasn't a dollar to begin with why did he name the store Family DOLLAR? The fact is that any person can be influenced in a different way just by the way someone words a sentence or phrase. A prime example of this is a Family Dollar store. The problem is that Family Dollar doesn't sale everything in their store for a dollar, like a Dollar Tree does. Dollar Tree is seen to be one of the very few true... Most stores lean towards the usage of cognitive grammar to bait their customers in to make a business. A prime example of cognitive grammar is Family Dollar, which would make customers think that everything in the store is a dollar. Cognitive grammar is used to make people think what you want them to think. If a person says, "Don't think of a nice car", what are you going to think about? Everyone is going to think about different types of nice cars, even though the person said not to. Dollar General and Family Dollar are not what they claim to be in the view of their customers. If the items bought at a "dollar" store are a dollar there is more likely of a chance that the item will be of low value in the first place, but not all the time. In the true dollar stores like Dollar Tree, there are a lot of "here and there" items that are very well worth a dollar to many people, others not so good of a deal. • 13. Financial Crisis And Its Effects On Economic Growth The late half of 1997 and the early parts of 1998 presented the world with one of the world's most famous financial crises. This financial crisis proved to be detrimental mainly to the south–eastern Asian area, including South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia. The aforementioned south–eastern states recorded astounding economic growth in the preceding decade. The downfall of the economy caused a domino effect in the local markets and currency markets of each country. The nations' leaders, as a result, had to request assistance from the IMF. Politics were important in creating the financial boom, but they were also guilty of the subsequent consequences. Similar to a number of financial crises in the past, the Asian financial crisis came to be as a result of unexpected economic growth. The countries were all under the influence of a number of different economic criteria, such as cheap yet fairly well educated labour, lowered barriers to trade, and economies based heavily on exports. Even Malaysia enjoyed bountiful foreign direct investment. All of these elements came together to make Asia dominant force in exports. This was proven by the fact that none of the countries affected by the crisis experienced of export growth lower than 12% between 1990 and 1996. • 27. Minimum Wage And Magical Thinking Opinion Minimum Wage and Magical Thinking Opinion In the reading of Minimum wage and magical thinking he discusses that raising the minimum wage would have a negative impact and would actually hurt those that it is supposed to help and I would agree. Raising the minimum wage would cause inflation to rise, thus basically canceling out what it was intended to do and making the US dollar worth less. Secondly, minimum wage increase would cause the price of goods to rise and then less people will be buying so, then you are paying employees more and making less revenue. Lastly, this would hurt the very people that raising the minimum wage is intended to help because the number of jobs that are entry level or low skilled will drop and then people who were making a 7.25 minimum wage will now be earning a 0 dollar wage. Minimum wage does not need to increase, especially not as drastic as some people are calling for and the positive outcome that is thought it would produce actually would be doing more harm than good. If the minimum wage were to rise inflation in turn would rise too as Issac Newton's third law says for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The general idea is to pay people more money, but not to increase the cost of goods which in a perfect world that may work, but this is the real world and that isn't how it works. At the time, the personal computer business was in its infancy, and the company sought to fill a niche by providing communication networks to link mainframe computers. Although the company grew rapidly, Mr. Lee felt that the real opportunities for growth lay in personal computers. In the mid–1980s, he decided to make a major switch to the production ... He had received his MBA from Harvard in the 1960s and had spent most of his career working for a company that had little international exposure. Moreover, he was not familiar with derivatives such as currency options, which until recently were not widely traded. However, Mr. Brown had recently hired an assistant, Mr. Dan Pross, who had some knowledge of hedging and derivatives. As a student at UCLA, Mr. Pross had traded various types of derivatives for his own portfolio and was familiar with how they were traded. Although Mr. Pross did not have a finance background, he was, in Mr. Brown's opinion, extremely intelligent and highly capable. Mr. Brown suggested that Mr. Pross make a presentation to the senior management on the use of derivatives to reduce risk. The presentation was scheduled for the first week of December 1990. Mr. Pross outlined the use of various derivatives, noting that they differed widely in their ability to reduce risk. If the company was, say, placing a large bid to buy a building abroad, one might prefer to use foreign currency options to hedge the currency risk in the event the deal fell through. He argued, however, that foreign currency futures were best suited to hedge the fluctuations in revenues arising from currency movements. Mr. Pross proposed a plan to hedge currency risk using futures which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Gender Wage Gap Identity and Definition of the Social Problem The author identifies the social problem as the gender wage gap, which is the difference of women's wages compared to men's for performing the same work or job. The gender wage gap is recognized on a federal level and by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) (The Wage Gap, State by State, 2017). There are many potential causes of thegender wage gap (Stevenson, 2014). Some causes may include the fact that policies have been enacted to encourage women to remain in the workforce, but paid sick and family leave often result in a woman's lifelong earnings to suffer. Additionally, because women tend to negotiate less, they are less likely than men to receive promotions and/or raises but are more likely to be penalized for taking that initiative. Some skeptics of the gender wage gap claim that the gap mainly exists because factors other than gender, such as education and work experience affect a woman's wages (Schieder & Gould, 2016). While education and work experience do rightfully affect a person's wages, men are still being paid more than women despite women obtaining more education. Many critics shift the blame to women for not earning more, but women are usually victims of gender bias in the workplace. The History of the Social Problem The gender wage gap is not a new issue. The gap traces back at least to the 1960's when women earned 60.7% of every dollar of a man's earnings for the same work (The Wage Gap Over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Porsche Exposed 1) Do you believe that Porsche's management is appropriately concerned with stockholder wealth? Does Porsche's ownership structure work to the benefit or detriment of public shareholders? Although Porsche is publicly traded, the company is controlled by only two stockholders, the Porsche and PiГ©ch families. As the quotation by Holger HГ¤rter makes clear, the two families hold exclusive shareholder influence over management. An interesting point for class discussion is whether the families actually ever exercise these rights. It is not clear from the information or evidence presented that they influence or direct current management headed by Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking. They may simply agree with current leadership and therefore remain quietly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The objective would be to match dollar cash inflows from US sales with dollar cash outflows in US dollar debt service (principal and interest). Porsche has chosen not to use this approach most likely because it does not "do debt." The firm has not needed debt to finance its operating activities and investing activities under the current management team (since 1993), and it also does not philosophically believe in using debt (see page 5 of the case). A good point of discussion with students, however, is that a company does not necessarily need debt to use debt. The benefits of leverage are well known, and although many successful companies today do not choose to use debt (Intel, Dell, Exxon–Mobil, Microsoft to name a few), this does not necessarily prevent Porsche from revisiting this judgement. The benefit of using a financing hedge like dollar–denominated debt is that it would take less active management and would not require a major outlay of capital out front like currency options require (option premiums). Current Strategy. The company has been hedging the US dollar long position by estimating its annual US dollar sales and hedging that exposure by purchasing put options on the US dollar (the right to sell US dollars for euros at a specific exchange rate). The company has been purchasing these options in what it refers to as a "three–year rolling hedge" in which it hedges expected US dollar sales three years out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In most of the cases which involved the management of new ideas and the observed relationships in comparison with the bond prices, the firm adopted changing models in the style of its management. This is appropriate because the variables in the market usually change and adopting one model may not be the suitable move to take. The strategies which are used by this company are not advantageous in the sense that most of the corporate debts in the organization usually carry considerable amounts of higher yields. Producing above average returns in the organization, with risk set a lower level than the normal risks would be an appropriate strategy which has to be used. The outlook for changes in interest rates The weak economic growth in Asia ad in Europe has helped in benefiting Canada and the US. Asia and Europe had also faced deflationary pressures which were caused by the changes in the rates of interest rates in the economy. The risk of the inflationary pressure in the US led to the increasing concern of the federal reserves. The Canadian bonds have been trading at a considerably lower yield as compared to the US bonds in the market. The situation was supposed to be maintained if the Canadian dollars in the economy appreciated relatively to those of the US dollars in the economy. • 35. Persuasive Essay On Women Pay If,for the same work, women make only 77 cents for every dollar a man makes, why don't business hire only women? Wages are the biggest expense for most. So, hiring only women would reduce costs by nearly a quarter and that would go right to the bottom line. Don't business want to be profitable. Or, are they just really bad at math? Well, actually,it's the feminists, celebrities and politicians spreading this wage gap myth who have the math problem. Here's why. The 77–cents–on–the–dollar statistic is calculated by dividing the median earnings of all women working full–time by the median earnings of all men working full–time. In other words, if the average income of all men is, say, 40,000 dollars a year, and the average of women is say 30,800 dollars, that would mean that women earn 77 cents for every dollar a man earns . These calculations do not reveal a gender wage injustice because it doesn't take it into account occupation, position, education or hours worked per week. Even a study by the American Association of University Women, a feminist organization, shows that the actual wage gap shrinks to only 6.6 cents when you factor in differents choices men and women take. And the key word here is "choice". The small wage gap that does exist has nothing to do with paying women less, let alone with sexism ; it has to do with differences in career choices that men and women make. In 2009, the US Department of Labor released a paper that examined more than 50 percent reviewed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The dГ©cor was that of a family fun atmosphere complete with plenty of crap adorned on the walls and a row of video games just off the entry way. Popcorn and peanut shells littered the floor encouraged by the management's anything goes at Buffalo Jack's philosophy. Sure, on one level he despised them for that, but on another he was grateful. The time he had spent with Angela and even to an extent the present moment he was experiencing after having seen and being so close to Liam had been the only times in Evan's life he had ever felt anything close to being normal–human. Not that he didn't consider himself human, he just typically considered himself human in the way one would consider Montgomery Burns human. • 38. Reflection Paper On Healthy Food Healthy Food Community Outreach Project Reflection Paper Our group the Kids Next Door was assigned to a Family Dollars Store in 901 Bridgewood Dr. Fort Worth, TX 76112 to conduct Healthy Food Community Outreach survey. This Family Dollar Store opens at 9:00 am and close at 10:00 pm Monday through Sunday. So, on October 19, 2017, Thursday at 9:00 am, our group went to conduct the survey. We enjoyed conducting this survey and it was a great opportunity to learn about healthy food in our Tarrant county. As working with a group on this project, I have gained experiences in teamwork, communication, and exploration. Before we went to conduct the survey, I was kind of afraid to go shopping there alone. I thought this neighborhood is dangerous and was not safe for a girl to shopping there alone. However, after exploring the neighborhood Family Dollar store, my negative thoughts of this neighborhood were completely changed. The location of this Family Dollar store is across from Dollar General and about half a mile from this Family Dollar store, there is Albertson supermarket. I also noticed there was a city bus stop nearby this Family Dollar store. I found this location as convenient for the residents and access to public transportation is another factor that gives people transportation options to get to work and shopping. There were plenty of parking spaces available for customers including accessible handicap parking spaces in front of the store and near the store entrance. The store environment was clean, but I did not notice whether the trash bin was placed in front of the store or not. I arrived there a little bit early around 8:50 am and I saw a few customers walked in the store ten minutes earlier than store open hour. It was kind of a surprise to see it because I did not expect the store would allow the customer to walk into the store before the open hour. Unfortunately, our group member Kayla could not join us for this survey. The rest our group members met in the parking on the survey day. We brought the survey, but we forgot to bring a letter to show the store manager. However, the store staffs were friendly, and they allowed us to perform the survey without a permission letter. Liabilities are resources that are owed for services, supplies and other things that the organization has acquired. The ideal goal of any business is for the assets to be greater than the liabilities (Cleverly et. al.). Duality Duality is a simple mathematical equation or rather, it seems simple. The equation states, "The value of assets must always equal the combined value of liabilities and residual interest, which we have called net assets." (Cleverly et. al. pg. 185 para.1) This requires balancing reports about changes in either side of the equation. In health care, for instance, changes such as buying supplies, receiving payment for services, or paying the electric bill are all transactions that require balancing the books, so to speak, so that the equation is still equal. Cost Valuation Cost Valuation can be defined as choosing the right price for services, supplies and other things of value (Hutton, 2005). Choosing the right price may be based on the history of what the entity has paid that is reflected by money measurement or may be based on other measures of what a cost should be (Cleverly et. al.).
