BlueTech Stage 2
1. Mobile App
Business Case

2. The Mobile App Project
The problem: Important information exchanged during
phone calls can get lost or easily disputed, and there is
no reliable method for recording such information.
The solution: A smartphone app, providing a method for
recording audio in phone calls and a prompt, opened
upon termination of phone calls, providing forms for
recording information.
3. Pitching the idea
Engineers and phone logs -- a more modern solution
Memos, requests, responsibilities, casual information -- not
just any other notepad app, but a more convenient, more
direct one
Low battery use, easy integration with Android and iOS,
lots of settings to manipulate its role in the system
4. Challenges of Technology (and risks)
Coding
● Learning how to code for mobile platforms using tools
such as the internet and books. (high)
● Idle battery consumption of the app. (high)
● Coding for multiple mobile operating systems and
versions of each OS . (high)
● Ensuring the app does not invade privacy of users.
(high)
5. Challenges of Technology
App Design
● Aesthetic value and ease of use. (medium)
● Managing background power usage
● Acquiring licenses to develop and publish onto mobile
app markets
● Simplifying customization options of said app to fit best
on a per user basis
● Compatibility with other mobile applications. (low)
6. Similar Projects #1 (Evernote)
● Evernote by Evernote Corporation.
○ Allows the user to create and share their text notes with other
individuals, as well as organize them under categories and
sync them with other devices.
○ This is similar to our project because it is able to organize data
under distinct areas and assist in user information retention.
○ This project can be used as inspiration for our own project due
to its multi-device syncing and cloud storage capabilities, both
of which are intriguing concepts when considering developing a
mobile application.
7. Similar Projects #2 (Calltrunk)
● Calltrunk by Calltrunk
○ Allows users to record calls and then save them to a cloud
service, then search for them by words in the call and
analyze/listen to them.
○ This is similar to our project because it allows you to file your
calls by relevant information and to look back at conversations
with ease.
○ This project can be used as partial inspiration because its
ability to convert audio files to text makes it very unique in its
purpose and something quite interesting to look at for
influence.
8. Similar Projects #3 (S Note)
● S Note by Samsung
○ An open note program that allows drawing and annotating
images and text by combining standard typing Samsung’s
stylus pens, and voice to text into an all-in-one app.
○ The ability to quickly record information is relatable to our
project because the S note app will be a suggested app to
open once the S pen is taken out of the stylus slot, similar to
our idea to prompt note taking apps when needed.
○ The intuitive pen and paper style of this application relates to
our project because it brings methods of recording and
retaining information, bringing a new method to writing notes.
