“To vacation beside the beautiful waters of the beach and the
beauty that surrounds it, is to discover tranquility from within.”

2. Profession
My love for Economics was the fulcrum to my
fascination with the city of Dubai. Economists had
forecasted that by 2016 oil would be no more, in
Dubai. The ripple effects professed for the
economy was rather disheartening. The then prince
decided that mass tourism would be the answer for
Dubai. I have followed the development of Dubai
from a mere trade center to a world-renown tourist
destination. It shows how an economy can be
manipulated to bring about growth. TheDubai- The Alchemy of Desert & Sea Slide 2 of 31

6. Adventure Tourism in Dubai
Dubai has utilized the sand that it has in abundance. It is used in many
different ways to bring about the feel of adventure. Sandboarding is one
such way the sand has been used. Overtime it has become one of the
most popular sports in the desert. Journeying through the desert is also
made comfortable for persons who love to be behind the wheel. The
Arabian dune presents the opportunity for persons to drive in the sand.
This adventure tourism can quickly turn into accommodation as individuals
can stay overnight in the desert safari for a chance to watch the stars as
they lay down. For those who prefer a bird’s eye view, Dubai can be seen
from above in hot air balloons. The unique position of Dubai between the
desert and the Arabian Sea provides an avenue for water sports. These
water sports include kayaking, scuba diving and windsurfing.

The world-class developments within Dubai tends to be looked at
more than buildings of the past. However, Dubai does not lack this
type of Tourism. One of the remaining heritage of Dubai, is the
Heritage Village which contains preserved buildings. Exhibitions in
the village illuminates the historical significance as potters and
weavers practice their traditional craft. The Dubai Museum is
another cultural preservation of the city and is the oldest existing
building there. The aim of the museum is to present the traditional
way of life on the Emirate of Dubai.

Dubai has been labelled the ‘shopping capital of the Middle-East.’ The
city encourages shopping and has formulated a festival known as
Dubai Shopping Festival to encourage persons from all locations to
come and partake. January is the month that hosts the shopping
festival. Dubai’s Souk districts also inspire shopping tourism. It is said
that bargaining is at the forefront of the souk district. Dubai gives all
passengers the opportunity to shop and has extended duty free
shopping to their international airport.

The Dubai Sports City was a vision
of three entrepreneurs from the
United Arab Emirates. The overall
vision was to create a world premier
sporting destination. The sports

way for medical tourism, with the
building of clinics within the
structure.
16. Why would I visit Dubai?
My goal in life is to experience many different cultures in
different parts of the world. Dubai presents this opportunity in a
lavish and breath-taking manner. I am an extroverted venturer
and Dubai allows for me to be adventurous through marketing
itself as an allocentric location. The buildings and the lifestyle of
the people has certainly played up on my curiosity and for that
reason it is a must see!
