2. Planting and Harvesting
Rice needs moist soil
with a slightly acidic
clay. When rice seeds
are planted, they will
start to grow into tiny
green plants. It will take
approximately 3-4
months. After that, the
rice grains are harvested
and dried or else they’ll
spoil.
3. Removing Layers and Brown
Rice
After the rice grains are
dried, the outer layer or
skin called the Husk is
removed, leaving
another thin layer called
the Bran Layer. In this
layer, you will have
brown rice. In order to
get white rice, you will
need a rice mill.
4. White Rice
In the rice mill, the rice
grain with the Bran
Layer is put in large
metal drums and the
large rollers take the
layers away. As the rice
is taken out of the mill,
you simply have White
Rice and Brown Rice.
