Group 1 presented on factors affecting the physical development of learners. They discussed several key factors including maternal and child nutrition, early sensory stimulation, heredity, environment, gender, hormones, exercise and health, and socio-economic status. The presentation provided an overview of how each of these factors can influence a child's growth and development. It emphasized the importance of good nutrition, sensory experiences, family environment and support in helping children achieve healthy physical development.

Introduction
BEFORE WE START OUR DISCUSSION WE
WOULD LIKE TO DO A RECAP ABOUT OUR
LAST DISCUSSION. AND SINCE THIS IS
OUR LAST PRESENTATION WE WOULD LIKE
TO RECALL ALL THE DISCUSSION THAT WE
TACKLED.

RECAP DISCUSSION
CHILD DEVELOPMENT REFERS TO
THE PROCESS THROUGH WHICH
HUMAN BEINGS TYPICALLY GROW
AND MATURE FROM INFANCY
THROUGH ADULTHOOD.
WHAT IS CHILD
DEVELOPMENT?
PHYSICAL DOMAIN OF
GROWTH AND
DEVELOPMENT
THEORICAL
PERSPECTIVE IN CHILD
DEVELOPMENT
The physical domain covers the
development of physical
changes, which includes
growing in size and strength,
as well as the development of
both gross motor skills and
fine motor skills.
ERIK ERIKSON - Psychosocial
Developmental Theory
THE DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF
GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
THAT ARE MEASURED
INCLUDES PHYSICAL GROWTH,
COGNITIVE GROWTH, AND
SOCIAL GROWTH.
THERE ARE 3 STAGES OF
ADOLESCENT; EARLY,
MIDDLE, LATE
JOHN BOWLBY - Attachment
Theory
SIGMUND FREUD - Psychosexual
Developmental Theory
ALBERT BANDURA - Social
Learning Theory
JEAN PIAGET - Cognitive
Developmental Theory
The physical domain also
includes the development of
the senses and using them.
When young, children are
learning how to perform
different activities with their
fingers in coordination with
their eyes such as grasping,
releasing, reaching, pinching,
and turning their wrist. Because
these small muscle movements
take time to develop, they may
not come easily at first.

ACTIVITY
BECAUSE THIS IS OUR LAST DISCUSSION. THE ACTIVITY WILL
BE ALL ABOUT LESSON 1-4.
EACH GROUP MUST CHOOSE 1 REPRESENTATIVE TO COMPETE WITH
OTHERS. THEY WILL BE GIVEN 10 QUESTIONS AND MUST ANSWER
ALL OF THEM. THE ONE WHO CAN FINISH ALL THE QUESTIONS
FIRST WILL BE THE ONE TO PROCEED TO THE NEXT CHALLENGE
WHICH IS THE BOTTLE FLIP. AFTER FLIPPING THE BOTTLE, THE
MEMBERS OF THE LEADING GROUP WILL WORK TOGETHER TO SOLVE
THE WORD PUZZLE. THE ONE WHO FINISH FIRST, WILL BE THE
WINNER.

When raising children, there are many
factors from family and environment to
genes and biology that influence their
growth and development. It is important to
understand these factors to help your
children achieve a healthy growth and
development pattern.
9. PAGE 9
MATERNAL NUTRITION
A nutrient-rich maternal diet before and during pregnancy is
associated with improved fetal health, more appropriate birth
weight, and increased rates of maternal and infant survival.
The ability of mother to provide nutrients and oxygen for her baby
is a critical factor for fetal health and its survival. Failure in
supplying the adequate amount of nutrients to meet fetal demand can
lead to fetal malnutrition. The fetus responds and adapts to
undernutrition but by doing so it permanently alters the structure
and function of the body. Maternal overnutrition also has long-
lasting and detrimental effects on the health of the offspring.
10. PAGE 10
CHILD NUTRITION
Getting children to eat healthy foods can sometimes feel like
fighting an uphill battle. The leafier and greener the food,
the greater the struggle. Child nutrition is incredibly
important
Nutrition is important at every age. Your children need
proper nutrients stay healthy and strong, and grow up healthy
and strong. Nutrition for children can also help establish a
foundation for healthy eating habits and nutritional
knowledge that your child can apply throughout life.
11. PAGE 11
EARLY SENSORY STIMULATION
sensory stimulation given during the early weeks of life did
have an effect on the infant's growth and development,
providing support for the idea that sensory enrichment can
improve a baby's weight gain, sensory functioning, and the
nervous system organization.
It encourages development and strengthens brain functions. It
helps students mature and stimulates the physical, sensorial
and social learning process. It awakens a child's curiosity
and observation skills. It can detect learning disorders.
12. PAGE 12
HEREDITY
Heredity is the biological process of transmission of physical
characteristics from parents to children through genes. It
strongly influences many aspects of the physical appearances of
children such as their height, weight, body structure, the color
of the eye, the texture of the hair, and even the intelligence
and aptitude skills.
Many diseases like heart problems, diabetes, obesity, blood
pressure can also transmit through genes, thereby affecting the
growth pattern of children adversely.
13. PAGE 13
ENVIRONMENT
The environment is a major factor that plays a crucial role
in the development of children and it represents the overall
physical and psychological stimulation they receive.
The physical surroundings and the geographical conditions of
the place the child lives in, his social environment and
relationships with family and peers come under the
environmental factors that influence early childhood
development in a major way.
14. PAGE 14
GENDER
The gender of the child is a very common but
important factor affecting the physical growth and
development of a child. The growth pattern of
girls and boys is quite different like boys tend
to be taller and physically stronger than girls on
the other hand girls tend to mature faster during
their adolescence than the boys.
15. PAGE 15
HORMONES
You must be knowing that hormones belong to the endocrine system
and influence the various functions of our bodies. Hormones
secreted from different glands that are situated in specific
parts of our body and control many of our body functions.
The proper functioning of these hormones plays a major role in
the normal physical growth and development of the children. If
these hormone-secreting glands cannot function properly, children
may suffer from growth defects, obesity, behavioral problems, and
some other diseases.
16. PAGE 16
NUTRITION
Nutrition, maybe the most important of the lot, has the most profound
impact on children’s healthy growth and development. A Balanced diet,
rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, provides
everything that a child’s body needs to grow properly. Malnutrition can
cause deficiency diseases affecting their growth and development in a
major way. On the other hand, overeating can also lead to obesity and
many other health problems in the long run such as diabetes and heart-
related problems.
Apart from the above-mentioned factors, family and geographical
influence, socioeconomic status of the child and education play a major
role in children’s growth and development.
17. PAGE 17
EXERCISE AND HEALTH
The word exercise here does not mean physical exercise as a discipline or
children deliberately engaging in physical activities knowing it would
help them grow. Exercise here refers to the normal playtime and sports
activities which help the body gain an increase in muscular strength and
put on bone mass. Proper exercise helps children grow well and reach
milestones on time or sooner.
Exercise also keeps them healthy and fights off diseases by strengthening
the immune system, especially if they play outside. This is because
outdoor play exposes them to microbes that help them build resistance and
prevent allergies.
18. PAGE 18
SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS
Children require proper nutrition, nourishment,
and nurture when growing up. Without proper
care, they may not be able to have proper
physical development. Children belonging to
poor families may not have the resources
required for proper physical development which
may cause them to have deficiencies.
