1. Question 1: In what ways does
your media product use, develop
or challenge forms and
conventions of real media
products?

2. The conventions of a film opening consist of:
1) The distribution company
2) The production company
3) The main actors (if they are famous)
4) Title of the film.
In our opening, we went along with the main
conventions of a film opening. We had our distribution
company as CandiStudios, our production company was
D.E.E.O Productions, which we made from our groups’
names’ initials. We then had our main actors, which
included the main male lead ‘Alexy Pettyfer’ who has
starred in many hit films such as Stormbreaker and
Beastly.

3. Our opening starts off with an establishing shot, showing our location and
setting. We recorded this at my house, so my room was also needed. The fact
that we shot this at night has a more realistic effect since our title is named
“3:01” (during the AM’s). The lighting in our opening was very crucial.
Sometimes we had bits where we could not see our characters face because it
was so dark (we switched the lights off); we didn’t want to change the force of
the dimming light we used, since this would have been hard for us to go back to
where we started from.
The use of the solemn lullaby sound we used that was from a snow globe I
have at home (that I brought into college) was very use full for our film. By
slowing it down and making it echoed, I think it showed our genre very well.
Mainly thrillers such as One Missed Call have these kind of lullaby’s for their
movies.

4. The fact that we used blood in our
thriller was a little typical yet it had a
great effect. We used the kind that
was dried on someone's hand and not
the cheap gooey things you get in
horror movies. We used the blood a
creative way, the audience are
instantly notified that this will be a
horror thriller.
