2. Background
AHS – supplying the landscaping and
construction industries nationwide…
Established in 1992,
23 years supplying the landscape and
construction industries.
New, innovative product – an ecological
alternative to traditional methods,
Deltalok has been used throughout North
America, Europe, Asia, South America and
Oceania for over 20 years,
In 2015, AHS Ltd became the sole UK
wholesaler of Deltalok.

3. Overview
Existing industry practices on which Deltalok’s concept is
based:
1. MSE (Mechanically Stabilized Earth) or reinforced soil
- Over 25 years used worldwide,
- Each layer is structurally sound as it is laid,
- Reducing the need for support, scaffolding or steel/timber
frameworks.
2. Non-woven geotextile material
- Known for its soil filtration, water permeability, root friendliness and
strength.
3. Geogrid
- Commonly used component for engineered walls,
- Deltalok is designed to work with all brands of geogrid,
- The reinforcement elements used vary but include steel and
geosynthetics.
4. The Deltalok System
Specifications
Strong, non-woven geotextile fabric
Water-permeable
Flexible
Designed to very effectively sustain a wide
variety of vegetation
Together with the Interlocking Plates, they
provide the structural strength of concrete
whilst blending seamlessly with the
surrounding landscape.

6. Concept
Eco-Friendly Soft Armour civil
engineering system for River Bank &
Stream Bank Repairs, Erosion Control,
Retaining Walls, Subsiding Banks, slope
stabilisation, slope & slip repairs,
fisheries & streams, culvert headwalls,
bridge abutments, flood protection,
garden walls, landscaping, golf
courses
Environmentally friendly eliminating use of
concrete / wire meshing / timber and steel
frames / steel pins / sheet piles
Capable of accepting vegetation for an
aesthetically pleasing and eco-friendly
vegetated system.
Superior vegetated outcome due to Mini eco
pockets located between each row and
each bag for seeds to germinate.

12. Benefits
Lightweight components
Modular construction ensures long term performance 100+years
Minimal site preparation
Builds faster than other systems
Reduction in time on site, labour costs and heavy machinery costs
Estimated 10x quicker to construct than brick wall etc.
Easy to install – no levelling, edging or cutting required.
Excavated materials from site can be used reduce muckaway costs
Can be laid in all weather conditions
Mimics pre-existing ground layout
Deltalok allows near vertical walls to be constructed to structures up to 6
metres in height
Functional
13. Build Information
Deltalok is an engineered system designed using the structural integrity of engineered
hard-scape walls with the appearance of vegetated plant materials. It is the only system that
offers both hard and soft solutions by being permanent, engineered has structural strength

14. Installation Process
Dig a shallow trench 7.5cm (+/-) to get the base of the Deltalok bag
below the adjacent ground.
Place the interlocking plate on the ground and lay the first row of
Deltalok into place.
Place the interlocking plates along the top of the Deltalok bags,
spanning between the two lower bags.
Place the next row of Deltalok bags in a
running bond configuration over the lower
layer.
Walk the new row of bags into place, the
interlocking plate will lock the bags together
to give a strong bond.
15. River Channel
The section below shows Deltalok placed along the stream banks for erosion
protection.
The slope angle of the bank is stable for slope stability of the soil.
The base of the Deltalok wall is embedded 30-60cm below the base of the channel to
get below potential scour depth.
16. Geogrid Wall
When Deltalok walls exceed the height where gravity walls are stable, geogrid soil
reinforcement may be used to reinforce the soil mass behind the facing.
This mass is termed a MSE (mechanically stabilized earth) structure where the soil and
facing act together as a composite structure.
17. Culvert
Deltalok makes an excellent head wall of culverts, fitting tightly around the structure to
eliminate soil piping from behind the face and because of the flexibility of the system it
works very well over soft ground conditions.
18. Large Free Standing wall
Deltalok walls may be built free standing walls for privacy or noise barriers.
The base of the wall needs to be wide enough to support the structure under any wind
or external loadings. Geogrid reinforcing strips are used to tie the front and back walls
together to form a stable structure.
19. Roadside Bank
Deltalok walls can be used for permanent or temporary banks along road sides.
Suggestions
The bank be placed 30-60cm away from the road shoulder for stability.
