Places- ThannirMukkam, Muhamma, Kuttanad, Kumarakom.
Facts- 1) in general most of the households had small canoes of their own
2) Small canoes every were that connect the backwaters in kuttanad.
3) For travel they were depending mainly on canoes
4) For the transportation of commodities they were using kettuvallam.
5) Instead material egg of chickens and goose were given in exchange .Canoeists who sold the goods were called muttakar
6) Trip to Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi was possible through these back waters
7) Today boat services of Kerala State Water Transport Co-operation operational in kuttanad.
8) Most of the houses in kuttanad are built on the Banks Rivers or canals
9) The rivers and canals were rich in availability of fish.
10) The water was drained for cultivation they used to get good catch. This was also a source of income for the landlords
11) Growing in duck in the swamp and canal was another occupation kuttanad people.
12) The canal to collect shells was another occupation of the kuttanad people

14) The outer layer of the white shells was used for more making cement

Concept: A part from the cultivation, Fishing Making Coir and collect shells are other occupations of the people of kuttanad.
