Einstein failed school but was truly a genius who changed the very foundations of physics.
Einstein’s four ground-breaking research papers pertaining to the Photoelectric effect, Brownian motion , special theory of relativity and E=mc2 were published in the Annalen der Physik scientific journal during 1905,the miracle year of his life.
6. BIRTH
Albert Einstein was born in Ulm , in
Germany on 14 march 1879.His father was
Hermann Einstein a salesman and
engineer .His mother was Pauline Einstein.
In 1880,the family moved to Munich,
where his father and his uncle founded
Elektrotechnische Fabrik J.Einstein &
Cie ,a company that manufactured
electrical equipment based on direct
current.
7. WHAT LED EINSTEIN TO STUDY
PHYSICS
Inspiration by a magnetic compass.
Interest in Euclidean geometry
at a tender age.
Study of the electromagnetism
theory at home.
8. THE HOLY LITTLE BOOK
"At the age of 12, I experienced a wonder in a booklet
dealing with Euclidean plane
geometry, which came into my hands at the beginning
of a school year. Here were
assertions, as for example the intersection of the three
altitudes of a triangle in one point,
which -- though by no means evident -- could
nevertheless be proved with such certainty
that any doubt appeared to be out of the question. This
lucidity and certainty made an
indescribable impression on me."
9. FORMATIVE YEARS
Although he got generally good grades .
In Munich, a teacher suggested Einstein to
leave school,since his very
presence destroyed
the other
students' respect
for the teacher.
10. Einstein quits his school in Munich.
Einstein's freedom from work and anxiety in Italy.
11. FORMATIVE YEARS II
In late summer 1895,at the age of sixteen , Einstein sat the
entrance examinations for the Swiss Federal Polytechnic in
Zurich . He failed to reach standard in several subjects , but
obtained exceptional grades in physics
and mathematics .
12.
13. In September 1896,he passed the Swiss Matura with mostly
good grades(gaining max. grade 6 in physics and mathematical
subjects, on a scale 1-6).
14. In 1901,Einstein research paper on capillary tubes was
published
In 1903, Einstein's position at the Swiss Patent Office
became permanent, although he was passed over for
promotion until he "fully mastered machine
technology".
15. GREAT WORKS
EINSTEIN’S ANNUS
MIRABILIS(1905)
Einstein’s four ground-breaking research
papers pertaining to the Photoelectric
effect, Brownian motion , special theory
of relativity and E=mc2 were published
in the Annalen der Physik scientific
journal.
16. RELATIVITY
GRAVITATIONAL TIME DILATION.
ORBITS PRECESS IN A WAY UNEXPECTED IN NEWTON'S
THEORY OF GRAVITY.
EXPANSION OF THE UNIVERSE.
BENDING OF LIGHT IN THE PRESENCE
OF GRAVITATIONAL FIELD.
GENERAL THEORY OF
RELATIVITY
17. SPECIAL THEORY OF
RELATIVITY
It was introduced in Einstein's 1905 paper, "On the
Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies".
Special relativity is based on
two postulates…
19. E=mc
2
The deep connection Einstein
discovered between energy and mass
is expressed in the equation E=mc2.
20. EXPERIMENTAL PROOF
In Paris in 1933, Irene
and Frederic Joliot-Curie
took a photograph showing
the conversion of
energy into mass.
21. Meanwhile in Cambridge, England, the reverse process
of this was seen i.e., the
conversion of mass into pure energy.
22. ACHIEVEMENTS
By 1908,He was appointed lecturer at the university of
Bern.
In 1911,he became a full professor at Karl Ferdinand
university in Prague.
In 1914,he was appointed director of Kaiser Wilhelm
institute for physics and a professor at the Humboldt
University of
Berlin also he became member of Prussian academy of
sciences.
23. In 1916,he became the president of German physics
society.
Einstein showed how to calculate Avogadro’s number
and the size of molecules.
Einstein’s paper on critical opalescence.
24. Einstein challenged the wave theory of light…
His paper concerning the Brownian motion of particles.
The development of Bose- Einstein statistics.
25. The discovery of ‘Dark Matter’.
The photoelectric-effect.
27. DEATH
On 17 April 1955, Albert Einstein
experienced internal bleeding
caused by the rupture of an
abdominal aortic aneurysm, which
had previously been reinforced
surgically by Dr. Rudolph Nissen,
in 1948.Einstein refused surgery,
saying: "I want to go when I want.
It is tasteless to prolong life
artificially. I have done my share, it
is time to go. I will do it elegantly."
