your own learning style, examining your strengths and weakness as a learner and responding to your
needs when you create your plan for learning" (Simon 15). What is my learning style and how do I
find it? When I was an adolescent, and began to have difficulties in school I had no clue that there
were different types of learning styles. Reading, spelling, and handwriting came easily for me while
math and science were daily struggles. If I could see it and write it I retained the information. By
recognizing and understanding my own learning style I can use techniques better suited to me. This

agency) is referred to as linkage blindness and will be a major theme throughout this book. In part,
the Homeland Security Act of 2002, the USA PATRIOT Act of 2001, and its reauthorization in 2005
were executive and legislative responses to the problem of linkage blindness by organizing diffuse
and autonomous law enforcement agencies and strengthening the government's abilities to obtain

President Lyndon B. Johnson Declared A War On Poverty
History In 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson declared a "war on poverty" in his State of the Union
address. Johnson 's aim was to not only relieve the symptoms of poverty, but to cure and prevent it.
The war on poverty took shape as a comprehensive effort to address the needs of the nation, nearly
half of whom were children. The war moved from concept to reality when the Economic
Opportunity Act was passed by Congress in August 1964. The establishment of the Head Start
preschool was authorized under the Economic Opportunity Act. In the summer of 1965, Project
Head Start first launched as an eight–week program which had more than a half a million children
nationwide enrolled. After much success, the program was implemented as a full–one year program,

The Civil War Of The United States Essay
As a result of the U.S. Civil War, many newly freed slaves were in search of a better life as free
men. With help from Congress in March of 1865, an organization known as the Freedmen's Bureau
was created with the intentions of helping the freedmen and their families. The organization was the
first of its type to be established federally for the main purpose of social welfare. With leadership
from many military Generals, the Bureau was able to provide the freedmen with necessities such as
clothing, land, food, hospitals, housing and most importantly schools. Education had been a major
demand since the first days the slaves were freed. Freedmen were given educational opportunities
through what would be known as the Freedmen's Bureau Schools. Eventually over time, the number
of blacks attending schools had grown to be thousands. The Freedmen's Bureau Schools would have
had longevity and more educational opportunities for freed slaves after the Civil War if not for
Congress interruption. Northern abolitionists had taken notice to the serious detrimental positions

Younger generations still have people discriminating against the elderly in the workplace. In the

Traditional and nontraditional college students share few similarities in today's quest for a college
degree. In fact just about the only similarity between the two types of students is just that, they are
both students. The Wall Street Journal estimated in a 2013, article the number of traditional students
was just 29% down almost 10% from 1990. The National Center for Education Statistics defines a
nontraditional student "as meeting one of seven characteristics: delayed enrollment into post–
secondary education; attends college part–time; works full time; is financially independent for
financial aid purposes; has dependents other than a spouse; is a single parent; or does not have a
high school diploma" (Pelletier, p. 1). Being a student at Kennesaw State University it is hard to

The national graduation rate for traditional students attending a public university is 57%, a private
university it is 32%. The numbers are much improved on the nontraditional student side with
graduation rates being around 72% over a lifetime. Keep in mind if a student drops out of college to

Employment is the next factor when comparing both sets of students, after all why attend college if

Juvenile Delinquency And The Nature Of Police Juvenile
There is substantial concern about rates of juvenile delinquency and the nature of police–juvenile
encounters fueled most recently by the "Black Lives Matter" campaigns nationwide toward
improved police–youth interactions. Yet, there are knowledge gaps on how best to proceed. There is
insufficient information on the prevalence and nature of police–juvenile encounters in the rural areas
of Mississippi, specifically, the Delta region. This lack of information means that policy–makers and
academics are responding non–empirically to matters of police–juvenile rural encounters. In lieu of
using data on the region then, responses are likely crafted based on the urban policing literature.
Therefore, this study is to offer insights on factors that influence police behavior when encountering
juveniles in rural areas, specifically police use of authority and, or the offer of support and
assistance at the street level.
To understand how police respond when they encounter juveniles while on patrol, Black's (1976)
behavior of law theoretical perspective offers a framework. Black's (1976) contribution to the
behavior law is that there are other factors besides law and police departmental policies that
influence police discretion to either arrest a juvenile in conflict with the law or to provide other
support. The factors include: the social aspects of life namely, stratification, morphology, culture,
organization and, social control.

Introduction
The low percentage of high school students, who successfully transition to college without requiring
developmental courses, supports the rationale for action research on K through 12 curriculum
development ability to produce college ready students. The Pennsylvania Common Core clearly
notes that curriculum standards should align college and work expectation. Unfortunately, the
inability to meet the demands continue at the forefront. As a result, I chose to approach this research
from Problem Based Learning Theory (PBL). PBL focuses on the investigation and resolution of
