recurring activities have sparked the United States to secure its borders against illegal immigrants
and terrorism by creating a special department named the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
DHS is headed by the Secretary of Homeland Security. After the terrorist attack of 9/11, terrorism
and illegal immigration were two striking issues for the DHS. To solve these issues, the Department
of Homeland Security further created two immigration enforcement agencies: U.S. Immigration and

Leslie Marmon Silko is a Tucson based Laguna Pueblo fiction author and poet. Having been based
in the southwestern area since 1978, she began to notice the increase in border security and
checkpoints. In 1994, her essay, "The Border Patrol State," was published in The Nation magazine.
In it, she explains her concerns and criticisms for the development and enforcement of the US–

Border Patrol, Customs and Border Protection, has become the largest federal law enforcement

trends within the agency. The number of Border Patrol agents more than doubled between 2004 and

Leslie Marmon Silko is a Tucson based Laguna Pueblo fiction author and poet. Having been based
in the southwestern area since 1978, she began to notice the increase in border security and
checkpoints. In 1994, her essay, "The Border Patrol State," was published in The Nation magazine.
In it, she explains her concerns and criticisms for the development and enforcement of the US–
Mexican border, arguing that it is an infringement on the free right to travel. She backs these
arguments up with a series of anecdotal accounts and experiences, using few statistical evidence. As
a result, Silko's essay becomes very powerful pathos wise, but weak when it comes to logos and
ethos.
Silko's audience seems to be targeted at people who would likely or already agree with her. For
example – people who lean left politically, people living in the area and may have possibly gone

I have watched shows on TLC of ER doctors and nurses and they seem to see bizarre things that are
rather quite interesting. Being a nurse means I will make a ton of money and that's my goal. Nursing
is a lot of schooling and not only that you have to have a really strong stomach to do some of the
nasty jobs a nurse has to do. The schooling is a 2 or more year degree in nursing and another few in
math which isn't bad. I already take principals of biomedical sciences class here at the high school
so that would be a great job that I am very interested in
These were the 3 job careers I chose I would like to go into once my high school education is over.
My order of choices would be Border Patrol then military officer then a nurse. In each three of these
careers I would be making a good starting salary and I would even be getting all the good benefits
from each of the jobs. I am very good with the schooling needed in each of these careers so that
would not be a problem for me. Nursing requires math nursing and sciences and those are my best
school subjects. I would love to get into these careers once I graduate high

The Pros And Cons Of US Border Patrol
The U.S Border Patrol's main job is to prevent terrorists, weapons, and illegal aliens from entering
the U.S. without identification. They want to make sure that the nation is safe from crimes and
attacks that can happen from the South American or Canadian borderline. Border patrollers want to
detect and prevent illegal human trafficking, drugs, or species that will cause harm to the country.
They have to work day and night to protect their country from harmful people or items. The U.S
Border Patrol's daily routine include conducting line–watch and sign cutting near international
borderline where they watch for illegal entry of people, animals, or vehicles. There are traffic
checkpoints near the highways where the officers will detect for

Becoming A Border Patrol Officer
BORDER PATROL Back when Jim bob was doing security for different places. Thinking about
becoming a police officer or highway patrol, best of all becoming a border patrol officer. When I
was in the border patrol academy. They would tell me not to take any bull crap off of the Mexicans
that cross the border. They were getting stuff stuck in our brains like, this is the UNITED STATES
OF AMERICA. This is the country where there is freedom and shouldn't be any immigrant's. we
were told that if we see someone crossing the border that we need to hurry up and get to the suspect
and investigate . and if further needed we should exciute. Witch I do think that should happen
because they are coming to our country with out permission and its also illegal. So therefore we
need to put a stop to all that stuff where no one will come illigaly. Being on the border patrol there is
a lot stuff that you can learn from. Like all the proper way to carry and use a gun at the right time.
What the u.s. needs to do is they need to get more people guard the border. All the illegal imigrants
like to come over to our country and just walk or swim right over to the u.s. for the united states to

The immigration gets both good and bad because they both have the same turn out. The border
patrol also catches the people crossing the border and sometimes. But they also get away with it.
When they cross the border and we catch them they should make sure that they don't do it again.
They should build a separate prision where just them go into it and no one else. Or if they see them
they should shoot or whatever they need to
