12. WHICH SCOTCH WAS ALLOWED TO BE
SOLD DURING PROHIBITION?
Laphroaig (depicted at the right) was the only
Scotch whisky that could still be imported
and sold legally by apothecaries during the
prohibition that plagued the US in the 1920's.
The reason was its medicinal taste. I guess the
government officials who tried it couldn't
imagine anybody drinking the stuff out of their
own free will - it's not for the faint of heart.

14. WHAT DOES SINGLE REFER TO IN SINGLE
MALT SCOTCH?
• That the product came from a single
distillery, NOT a single barrel
• Multiple barrels are often mixed to
create a Single Malt scotch
• It allows for greater consistency

15. HOW BEST TO DRINK SINGLE MALT SCOTCH
• Recommended with a splash of
water to open the flavor
• ICE CUBES or NEAT
• First Rule: Enjoy it - don’t let
snobbery ruin your drink
• That said, rarely would you use
mixers with Single Malt Scotch

19. BOURBON - THE AMERICAN STANDARD FOR
WHISKEY
• Must be made in the United States.
• Must contain 51 percent corn.
• Must be aged in new oak charred barrels.
• Must be distilled to no more than 160 proof
and entered into the barrel at 125 proof.
• Must be bottled at no less than 80 proof.
• Must not contain any added flavoring,
coloring or other additives.
All Bourbon is Whiskey, not all Whiskey is Bourbon

20. JACK DANIELS IS NOT BOURBON, BUT THE
MOST POPULAR OF ALL AMERICAN WHISKEY
• Jack Daniels adds a unique charcoal-drip
step to the process before putting it into
an Oak Barrel
• That disqualifies it from being called a
bourbon whiskey
• But it is a great whisky from Tennessee
• Old Number 7: legend says Jack Daniels
had 7 Girlfriends. But the truth it, it is his
secret and he took it to his grave.

SHE CANNOT SPEAK AND HAS DEVELOPED THE HALLMARK REPETITIVE HAND
WRINGING. SAMANTHA IS 16 YEARS OLD AND LIVES WITH HER PARENTS
JOHN AND KATHY, AND HER TWO BROTHERS, JULIAN (18) AND JACOB (13),
IN ALAMO. SAMANTHA HAS A SMILE THAT WILL LIGHT UP A ROOM AND AN
