Olympic Games are a premier athletic event for the athletes across the world. One international
platform forms the zenith of sporting accomplishment for various individuals. The tally of medals is
a matter of pride for various countries. Hosting an event as Olympic has its impact on the tourism
industry and infrastructures of various cities and countries. The USA has appeared in more than 24
Olympics so far and has a great history of winning more than 2500 medals. In the last few decades,
they have organized four editions of Summer Olympics and four editions of winter Olympics. It is

been the competition grounds for the world's greatest athletes. First place obtaining gold; second

When using this linear function, we can see that the function is somewhat accurate for the years
1956–1972. Unfortunately in other years, the linear function is not a good representation. Because
of these differences, the linear equation found is not a perfect representation of the given data.
Developing a Function with Technology:
After further examination, a new function must be formed to better fit the data given. This function
which I now believe fits the data well is the quadratic function. I believe that the quadratic is a good
fit because the data seems to take the same shape as a quadratic, x and y values both rise in a gradual
way.

NHL Hockey and Olympic hockey are very different due to each league having their own style of
play. In Olympic hockey Fighting is frowned upon, those who fight receive a penalty match, and
will be ejected from the game. In the NHL fighting, is what most fans come to watch fighting
allowed and after the fight is over all players involved in the scuffle will be penalized and put into

All of the rosters of the twelve teams have at least one NHL player on its roster. However, the NHL
is thinking about not letting its players play in the Olympics because it cuts into the season, and
there is a risk of getting there star players injured.
When Team USA beat the Soviet in 1980 it was important for the US hockey world because that
team was seeded seventh entering the game against the Soviet Union. During the 1980 Olympic run
the average was 22 and all the players were that year were both amateur and college players and the
Soviet's team was mainly professional and experienced players. This win gave coach Herb Brooks a
place in history because he did something no other USA coach has done for the last twenty years
and that is beat Russia, and he was named sportsman of the year in 1990.
In the Olympics for Hockey, they take the helmet and protecting the face rule very serious. During
warm–ups, it has been required that all players wear helmets. If a player is not wearing his helmet
correctly during the game, the game will be stopped and the player is penalized. The NHL is a little
bit easier on players, it's not required like in the Olympics where players have to wear a helmet
during pre–game and if your helmet comes off in the during NHL play the game continues.

How Did The Olympic Games Change The World?
Over many lifetimes the Olympic games have been a symbol of the most prestigious sporting event
in the world. Throughout time the games have evolved from two events to two hundred. Along with
the events, the athletes and vision of the games have changed as well. This paper is going to show
the changes for better or worse of the games. For over a thousand years there has been people
participating in the Olympics. The first documented games were in greece in the year 776 BC. The
games were first called "Olympics" because the first location was close to Mount Olympus, Greece.
During these first games events were limited and all competitors were males. Events were held in a
coliseum and a few of the competitions were wrestling and sprinting.
The games were held each year for hundreds of years until the 4th century BC. The games were
stopped during that time by an Olympian ruler named Theodosius A. Christian. Modern historians
believe that the ruler banned the games because they went against his edicts. An edict was the rulers
proclamation when he assumed power from the previous ruler and it is believed that he literally
banned the games in this order. After Christians proclamation the games were not revived until the
late 1800s by a frenchman named Pierre de Coubertin. He was Born into a French aristocratic
family, he became an academic and studied a broad range of topics, most notably education and
history. In 1892 Coubertin proposed a series of games every four years. His
