1. How does your media product rep-
resent particular social groups?
2. Our character Character from Eden lake
Our character represents the social group of young teenage boys of working
class background. This look has been mainly carried through the use of cos-
tume which included a hood. This dress is mainly associated with deprived
young men who seek to frustration ultimately challenging the norms of the
society by being rebellious.
Similarly the male character from Eden lake also comes from a deprived
background as he plays a hooligan from a teenage gang. This character also
wears a hood as its associated with violent young men. Both characters are
less inclined to follow rules set by the society. For our character its the case
of being mentally unstable as he plays a young man with psychological prob-
lems. Finally the character from Eden lake is also less likely to take that route
mainly due to his social upbringing and current circumstances.
3. Our character Character from Eden lake
Our character represents a typical teenage girl of a British household.
The character has been portrayed as very feminine and simple. The main
reason for this being is to make sure it comes across to the audience as
being vulnerable. The use of make up is also very minimal which ulti-
mately compliments the characteristics of this paticular character. Simi-
larly the character from Eden lake also appears to have very little make
up, which reflects her simplicity. However there’s a vast difference in
age between the two characters. Our film character is considerably
younger therefore coming across as less mature and this is evident
when she panic’s instantly in the film, therefore reflecting the stereo-
types associated with young teenage girls In contrast the character from
Eden lake is a lot mature and comes across as much more subtle.
