Disney Informative Speech
Disney World: Not Just for Kids
General Purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the variety of activities available to adults at the
Walt Disney World Resort.
Central Idea: The three aspects of Walt Disney World that cater to adults are the "five star"
amenities, annual special events, and sports & recreation activities.
I would like to ask the audience: When you think of a vacation in Disney World, what comes to
mind? John Cloud from Time International stated it correctly when he said "You're thinking roving
packs of sunburned children who let their ice cream drip on your toes as you wait to ride Space
Mountain. You're thinking overpriced hot dogs and hotel pools crammed with little kids leaving

vi. There are plenty of lakes and pools around Walt Disney World for the resort to offer guests
activities such as parasailing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, surf lessons, and even fishing. E.
Downtown Disney is a great area filled with shopping, shows, a movie theater, and nightlife. vii.
Cirque Du Soleil La Nouba "is a mesmerizing and extraordinary avant–garde circus spectacle
performed by Cirque du Soleil exclusively in the Downtown Disney" area. viii. The official Disney
World website describes DisneyQuest as a "one–of–a–kind indoor interactive Theme Park bursting
with games that give "state–of–the–art" new meaning". Guests can explore five floors exploding
with cutting–edge technology, virtual reality and 3–D experiences. ix. There are plenty of stores in
which to shop at Downtown Disney, and they aren't just Disney–themed. Afterward, you can relax
and have a beer at the huge Irish pub, Raglan Road, or House of Blues.
Connective: All of these five–star amenities and recreational activities are offered all year–long.
However, depending on which time of the year you decide to visit Disney World, there are special
events that many adults would love to partake in.
III. There is always a special event taking placed at Walt Disney World. I will split them up into the
seasons in which each event takes place. F. I am going to start with

Disney Corporate Strategy (A) Barbarians at the Magic Kingdom's Gate*
Introduction The next big takeover fight – and it would be a beauty – may involve Walt Disney
Productions. By the time you get this issue, Disney's defense strategy may already be unfolding. But
it will produce no quick victory for Disney even if a white knight comes along, and even if the
principle attacker, Saul Steinberg, can be bought off. One by one, Hollywood's great studios have
been plucked by the smart out–of–town moneymen. Paramount by the late Charles Bluhdorn.

The first major success of this division was "Seal Island," a nature film that won an Oscar in 1949.
Also in 1949, Disney formed a music company to create, produce and maintain control over the
music and songs featured in Disney productions but often performed by famous artists. Disney later
moved into live–action features with "Treasure Island" in 1950. Disney continued to innovate in the
live–action format by combining animation with live action in the film "Mary Poppins." As Disney's
film library had grown, Disney brought distribution in–house with the formation of Buena Vista
Distribution Co., in 1953. In films, Disney kept costs low by developing its own talent pool. For
cartoon features, characters were infinitely reusable and never required a salary, while for live–
action features, Disney shied away from using well–known and expensive talent. Audiences were
drawn because of the reputation Disney had established for providing quality, reliable, and
predictable family entertainment. In the early 1950s, Disney was quick to recognize the growing
medium of television to provide new outlets for Disney characters with "The Wonderful World of
Disney" first airing in 1953 and "The Mickey Mouse Club" in 1955. Disney's television productions
both the long–running shows and features were quite successful. During the same time, Walt Disney

History/background. The Walt Disney Company is a very large company with a very rich history.
The company began as a cartoon studio in 1923, started by Walt Disney, and it was called the
Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. In 1928, the first animated film to star Mickey Mouse, Steamboat
Willie, debuted in New York City. The following year, the partnership between the two Disney
brothers was replaced by four renamed Disney companies. In 1932, the first full–color cartoon,
Flowers and Trees, was debuted by Disney. In 1937, Disney premiered their first feature–length
animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In the year 1940, Walt Disney Productions issued

Disney 's Roster Of Heroes
Luke Skywalker and Han Solo are joining Mickey Mouse, Buzz Lightyear and Iron Man in Disney
's roster of heroes (USA Today). Disney Chairman and CEO Robert Iger, along with Star Wars
creator George Lucas, set the financial world and nerd–universe on their ear when they announced
that Disney was purchasing Lucasfilm for the out–of–this–world sum of $4 billion (the same amount
they paid for Marvel) (Screenrant). Disney is buying Lucasfilm for $4 billion, adding the legendary
Star Wars franchise to the entertainment giant 's stable of characters. Lucasfilm is 100% owned by
founder George Lucas. The purchase culminates a one and a half year pursuit of the Lucas empire,
Disney 's CEO said (USA Today).
One weekend last October, Robert Iger, chief executive officer of Walt Disney (DIS), sat through all
six Star Wars films. He'd seen them before, of course. This time, he took notes. Disney was in secret
negotiations to acquire Lucasfilm, the company founded by Star Wars creator George Lucas, and
Iger needed to do some due diligence (Bloomberg). Negotiation is one of the most important as well
as one of the most interesting and challenging aspects of supply management. In industry and at
most levels of government, the term "negotiation" frequently causes misunderstandings. In industry,
negotiation sometimes is confused with "haggling" and "price chiseling." Increasingly, negotiations
are conducted by cross–functional teams. These teams must be well coordinated to function as an

Walt Disney : Corporate Image Of Affloyee Expectationsments
Walt Disney, the man behind the name, envisioned on building a corporate image of exceeding
customer expectations for decades to come, which in turn has resulted in the organisation focusing
on two main customer service element strategies, Disney's Four Keys and Disney's Seven Service
Points, generated from the Quality Service Compass (The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated
Companies – Parks and Resorts Press, 2013). Ensuring these two strategies are correctly
implemented and followed by all cast members is crucial in creating magical experiences for guests.
Firstly, to understand these strategies and correctly analyse them it is important to understand that
customer experience is a compilation of interactions and perceptions between a person and a
company, as perceived by the conscious and subconscious of a customer, with the blend of rational
organisational performance, stimulated senses and evoked emotions, both which are measured
across all moments of contact against customer expectations (Shaw, Dibeehi & Walden, 2010).
Therefore, it is crucial that the organisation takes a customer–centred approach of quality service as
the number one driving force for business operations (Omachonu, Ross & Swift, 2004). Disney
focuses to go above and beyond to exceed these standards and expectations with their two
previously mentioned strategies (The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies – Parks and
Resorts Press, 2013), however, it is important to analyse whether the strategies

An Ohio father was having such a great time hanging out a Walt Disney World Resort bar, his
parenting skills began to be questioned. Brian Keith Olmstead sat at the Art of Animation Resort
with his seven–month–old son, Blake, in his stroller beside him, when other guests noticed the
baby's skin was becoming red from sitting in the sun for hours while his father got drunk, according
to WKYC. The 35–year–old father began to get out of control, with managers getting 11 complaints
about Olmstead's drunken behavior in four hours. The man was escorted back to his room, but he
didn't stay there for long. ClickOrlando reported the father returned, plowing the child's stroller

Marketing Strategy Of Walt Disney World
Walt Disney once said, "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." Walt
Disney was one of the most successful entrepreneurs of all time, a man who took a dream and
pursued it, making a worldwide famous company, Walt Disney World. This paper will look at the
history, financial situations, and marketing strategy of Walt Disney World. As Walt would say, "Sit
back and enjoy!"
In the early 1960s, Walt Disney wanted to give the residents of Eastern United States the
opportunity to enjoy the entertainment that was being offered at his California's Disneyland theme
park. Walt and his team the WED Enterprises settled on picking Florida as the new parks location.
Florida offered weather that was similar year round, and was already the number one location for
tourism. The announcement of the idea was delivered on November 16, 1965 at an Orlando press
conference.
Sadly, Walt Disney passed in December of 1967, leaving behind his dream for the park. However,
President Roy O. Disney, Donn B. Tatum, and E. Cardon Walker, the top three executives for the
company carried on the plans to open the new park. After many months of construction and
planning, the park held its grand opening October 1, 1971. Since then there have been many
additions and openings in the park, new traditions made, parades, and special guests attending. Walt
Disney World became a part of the renowned world of entertainment and entertains millions every
year. The Walt Disney Company operates

Personality Of Disneyland Park
In the year 1955, Disneyland Park was opened. Walt Disney's longtime dream of an organized and
clean park came to pass. The theme park was located in a place called Anaheim in California. It was
worth an amount of $17 million. The park was initially an orange grove before it was transformed
into a theme park. An actor and a future US president Ronald Reagan presided over the activities
while launching the new park. Many people were invited on that opening ceremony to witness the
official opening the park. Later on the park became a place where families and their children could
enjoy, relax, and meet the Disney characters. Within a short period, the park had already upgraded
and was entertaining individuals from all over the world. Disneyland ... Show more content on

Universal Studios Resort Vs. Walt Disney World
If you live in Florida or you are planning to pass by for a few days, there are two great choices to
spend 2 or 3 days of vacation time. The obvious choice if you have kids would be Walt Disney
World Resort, but there is also Universal Studios Resort, which could be better for kids older that 8
or 10. In terms of size, Disney World is far larger and have four theme parks, while Universal
Studios have only two. Each park seems to be perfect for one day, and that is the same for both
Disney and Universal. If what is important for you is the amount of attractions, then you should
know that despite the size, Universal Studios has more concentrated and it is far more easy to do
every ride of a park in just one day. Disney has more space between

Disneyland is the happiest place on Earth. It is one of the two theme parks built on the Disneyland
Resort in Anaheim, California and it's not only in California, it's also in Tokyo, France and Hong
Kong. It opened on July 17, 1955 by the one and only Walter Elias "Walt" Disney. Disney was born
in Hermosa, Illinois on December 5, 1901 and died on December 15, 1966 at the age of 65. He died
of lung cancer that was brought from his lifelong chain–smoking. This amusement park came onto
Walt's head after seeing his own two daughters in an amusement park that was dirty with trash
everywhere. After thinking about the filthiness in the amusement park, he imagined a clean and safe
amusement park which is now known as Disneyland. Disney isn't just only known for being the
founder of Disneyland and Walt Disney World, but also for being an innovated animator who
created the famous cartoon character known as Mickey Mouse.
Disneyland takes up 6,964,250 sq feet or 647,000 m². This amusement park was $17 million but that

Okay, let's start off with the most known, the hidden Mickey's. The hidden Mickey's are symbols
that are located all over the park. It all started as inside jokes among the Walt Disney imagineers but
as soon as the finishing touches were being added to the attraction, the imagineers decided to add
the Mickey symbols all over the amusement park. Obviously the word spread and soon it became a
tradition and ever since that happened, Disneyland has been getting people to look for the hidden
Mickey's. The symbols are located on almost all of the rides and all of the avenues. This is a fun

Technology Is Transforming The Retail Experience
NFC Technology is Transforming the Retail Experience I am a completely forgetful person. I am not
proud to admit that, but the other day I was going to grab lunch and while in the drive–thru at
Wendy's, I had the ungodly fear of realizing after I ordered that I had left my wallet back at the
office. Embarrassed and strapped for any excuse that didn't sound pathetic, the employee at the
drive–thru informed me I could pay for my lunch with my smartphone. I had to download the My
Wendy 's" app, which contained a virtual card synced to my checking account. The downloading
and setting up of the account was rather quick – although probably not as quick as the impatient
people in line behind me would have liked – but the process was painless. Unlike using a credit or
debit card, which could easily be scanned by an unscrupulous employee, who could get access to my
checking account, the smartphone transaction is safe and my identity and checking account is
protected. The Wave of the Future Targeting a younger generation, who live and die by their cell
phone, many retailers are jumping on the mobile payment bandwagon. Starbucks has been the leader
in mobile payment technology. According to Seattle–based coffee company's CEO, Howard Schultz,
the Starbucks' app has accounted for 14 percent of all purchases. This new technology is rapidly
changing how we buy coffee, lunch and other items such as retail stores, pharmacies, gas stations
and grocery stores. How it Works

What Are The Differences Between The World And Disneyland
Disney World vs. Disneyland
Many people wonder if there is much of a difference between Disney World and Disneyland.
Travelers have questions like, "Which one is more worth going to" or "Which one is cheaper?"
Those who have visited both parks may already know some distinct differences, but there are some
things people don't realize. While Disney World and Disneyland seem almost identical, their
accommodations, attractions, and size are surprisingly very different, which helps prove Disney
World is the better option when trying to really get the full experience.
The first major difference is attractions. While both parks may have some of the same titled rides,
they can be very different versions of each other. Suzanne Rowan Kelleher of tripsavvy.com states,
"Since the Magic Kingdom was based on Disneyland, the two parks are very similar in layout and
share some–but not all–of the same attractions. Yet even when both parks offer the same ride, there
are frequently differences. For example, the Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean
attractions at Disneyland are longer and considerably different to the Disney World versions."
This gives a clear example of how the rides have the same name but can vary greatly. While both
parks have attractions that the other doesn't, Disney world has many more unique attractions than
Disneyland.
The second major difference is size. It is commonly known that Disney World is much bigger than
Disneyland. After the first Disney park,

Walt Disney
"The man behind the mouse" The influential person that I have chosen to write about is Walt Disney.
Walt Disney is the most influential person that has ever existed. Walt Disney is important because of
the way he impacted the world. Some of the reason Walt Disney is influential is because of his
perseverance and his ability to dream big. Walt Disney's legacy will live on for ever.
Doing the impossible is one of the things that makes Walt so influential. Throughout his whole life
he did things that people said were impossible. People told Walt that he could never make a carton

During the last two decades of his life Walt Disney's influence on theme parks dramatically
increased. It all started when Walt decided to build a park where people of all ages could have fun
together. This all started when he realized that there were no amusement parks intended for people
of all ages. This how the idea of Disneyland started. Disneyland was built on the idea of being a
place where everyone could have fun and feel secluded from the outside world. When Disneyland
opened it became so popular that it became a model of what you should look for in a good theme
park (Postma,2016). Disneyland was so influential that it inspired 5 other Disney resorts worldwide
which all together included 10 others theme parks . Disney theme parks actually the must popular
theme parks in the world (Inside the Magic,2016). The Shanghai Disneyland resort will be the
newest Disney Resort when it open on June 16 2016. Walt Disney is famously known for improving
on things that already exist. Most of the movies that Walt made were based of Europe stories. The
stories of characters like Snow White and Pinocchio existed way before Walt made movie about
them. All Walt did is make improvements to the plots of those stories. Theme parks existed before
Disneyland. Walt Disney just made major improvements to the idea of what a theme park should be.

although that community did not come to fruition as he imagined, Epcot is dedicated to the
celebration of human achievement, namely technological innovation and international culture and is
often referred to as a permanent world's fair. (The community he envisioned would be built years
later and be known as Celebration – the town that Disney built.) The park is divided into two section
– future world and the world showcase. With nearly 12 million guest in 2015, it is the third most
sixth most visited theme park in the world. The park is represented by Spaceship Earth, a geodesic

A Comparison Of Walt Disney Resort And Universal Orlando
Walt Disney World vs. Universal Orlando
Amusement parks are a great form of entertainment for families and individuals. Walt Disney World
resort and Universal Orlando resort are two popular theme park destinations which provide
enjoyment to many worldwide visitors on a daily basis. Although both resorts share similarities, they
also have numerous differences which set them apart from each other – creating a unique vacation
experience for each visitor. While both Walt Disney World resort and Universal Orlando resort are
located in the heart of Orlando, Florida, Walt Disney World resort is a considerably larger vacation
destination. Both resorts have multiple theme parks, each of them aimed at offering different
experiences for guests. Walt Disney World resort has four different theme parks to choose from:
Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. On the other hand, Universal
Orlando resort has only two theme parks to offer their guests: Universal Studios Florida and
Universal's Islands of Adventure. Both resorts offer convenient on–site hotels for their guests in
order to keep them as close as possible to the fun. Walt Disney World resort has more than twenty–
five different hotels to choose from while Universal Orlando resort has only five hotels. Walt Disney
World and Universal Orlando provide entertainment for visitors of all ages. However, it is no
surprise that the intended audience for Walt Disney World is targeted towards young children. On
the other hand, Universal Orlando provides entertainment for an older audience. Walt Disney World
has slower attractions which are suitable for the whole family and revolve around the many different
Disney movies and characters. Universal Orlando is known for its thrill rides which are loved by
adrenaline seekers. Walt Disney World has very few thrill rides to choose from and not many of
them are large scale roller coasters. Universal has basically an entire theme park dedicated to large

Walt Disneyland Research Paper
"One day Walt Disney had a vision. It was a vision of a place where children and parents could have
fun together. The more Walt dreamed of a "magical park," the more imaginative and elaborate it
became" (justdisney.com). This vision that Walt Disney had was the vision of one of the most well–
known places on earth, Disneyland. Originally, he planned for the park to cover an area of 8 acres
where his employees and families could go to relax. However, World War II halted these plans that
he had, which ultimately gave him more time to come up with more ideas for this vision, and he
came to the quick realization that 8 acres was not nearly enough. "Finally in 1953, he had the
Stanford Research Institute conduct a survey for a 100–acre site, outside of Los Angeles. He needed
space to build rivers, waterfalls, and mountains; he would have flying elephants and giant teacups; a
fairy–tale castle, moon rockets, and a scenic railway; all inside a magic kingdom he called
'Disneyland'" (justdisney.com). To him, location was his top priority, and it would have to be in the
Los Angeles area, while also being accessible by freeway, as well as affordable as he did not have
much money at the time. "The search for the best spot finally ended in the rural Anaheim, California
with a purchase of a 160–acre orange grove near the junction of the Santa Ana Freeway (I–5) and
Harbor Boulevard" (justdisney.com). This would obviously be an expensive project so Walt had to

heights to tell a story. Every experience you have at a Disney park or resort is part of a story. The
story is lived out and experienced by the guest for their enjoyment, and this is totally dependent on
the surrounding environment. Imagineers at Disney have actually been known to put on knee pads
and walk on their knees around the theme parks just to try and get the prospective of a child. Putting
themselves in the place of a child, they see the things the child would see and how exactly they can
make the setting more appealing and fitting of their wants and needs. When a guest goes into one
area from another the setting around them gradually merges into a totally different setting, in a
smooth manner. This is know as cross–dissolve, and it binds one scene to the next

Analysis Of Disney's Main Core Competencies
Internal Environment In order for Disney to remain a dominate player within all of its markets, the
company must focus on key aspects of its internal environment. Disney must concentrate on aspects
such as core competencies, corporate governance, and synergies to assist in forming a sustainable
competitive advantage. Core Competencies One of Disney's main core competencies is its
marketing ability. The Disney brand has been consistently listed on Interbrand's Best Global Brands
list. In 2014, the firm ranked #13 and in 2013, it was ranked #14. According to Interbrand, Disney's
lasting brand success has to do with the company's ability to emphasize creativity, technology, and
global growth within its long–term business strategy. Another factor that attributes to the firm
success is its capacity to understand what consumers want and how to personalize their experiences.
For example, the new MagicBand and mobile application, which was introduced at Disney World in
2013, allows the customers with the use of technology to personalize their Disney experience. The
band enables the participants to travel lighter throughout their entire vacation. The band can act as a
hotel key, credit card, and ticket. The mobile application allows customers to book tickets make
restaurant reservations and create a schedule of day's events. Another core competency that Disney
maintains is the operational efficiency, which is mainly demonstrated within its parks and resorts
unit. A prime

The Economic Implication Of Walt Disney Co. Disney
The Economic Implication of Walt Disney Co. Disney is a topic that is well known not to only most
children of the world but adults as well. And has been a part of families' cherished movies,
possessions, and memories for generations many times to come. As we all know Disney is a multi–
billion dollar company. They produce everything from the movies, tv shows, to Disney Parks,
Disney Resorts, Cruises and Etc. with all these outlets are spread all around the world from
Shanghai, Honolulu to Orlando just to name a few. Movies and amusement parks have been
contributing to the economy for almost seventy–seven years and are still going on strong. Disney
World and resorts alone account for 2.5% of Florida's gross domestic product about 18.2 billion
dollars in annual economic activity as well. Disney, as we all may know is one of Florida's greatest
attractions. For instance according to the Disney Blog ''What Disney saw in 2008 was those who
drove tended to stay in Orlando a day or two longer on average. But they didn't travel as frequently
throughout the year, rather they saved it up for one long vacation. This means that the number of
visitors to the parks only declines slightly, and it also tends to spread the visits out over the whole
year. That's the pattern we saw in 2008 and 2009 and the pattern we're seeing now.''Disney world at
Florida offers jobs and charges price, two thousand six people almost daily not to mention it is even

Feedback tools need to be developed to increase the effectiveness of management and increase
management's accountability for their team's performance. Lastly, managers should remember the
golden rule in that they should treat 'Cast Members how they would want them to treat Guests.' In
doing so, Disney will be striving to create a magical experience not only for its valued guests, but
also for the people that make it happen, the Cast.
Disney's Guest Expectations
"Part of the Disney success is our ability to create a believable world of dreams that appeals to all
age groups."––Walt Disney
Much of what differentiates Disney Theme Parks from their competitors is their ability to fully
immerse guests into a 'magical' reality where the thoughts and concerns of the outside world are
pushed to the wayside. The core to the success of Disney Theme Parks is an outstanding
commitment to guest service and the Cast Member's ability and freedom to do whatever possible to
make sure the guest's stay is a positive and memorable one. This has become the expectation of
Disney guests, as well as the expectation of the organization as a whole. This expectation is difficult
to maintain, especially considering the high expectations of every individual guest that visits the
parks. Even one bad encounter

Ten Principles Of Walt Disney World
Walt Disney was an inventor as well as an idealistic. Due to the fact, he was also one of the most
successful business leaders of his time. The 10 principles that made Walt Disney became famous
and being the greatest icons of the 20th century are shown below.
Firstly, Walt Disney provides promise instead of product. The legend goes on when Walt Disney was
sitting on a bench while watching his daughters ride a carousel when he came up with the concept of
Disney World. He noticed amusement parks and state fairs were always in bad condition and poorly
organized. Aside from all this bad aspect, the employees were very rude towards the customers. His
Wife once asked him why did he intend to construct an amusement park and she said that those

One of the reasons the Disney tradition is very unique and famous is becayse Walt Disney was more
speicla of his creations than anyone else. He was a complete perfectionist with a hunger to seek for
detail which causes to forcing projects to go over budget and past deadline because of feeling not
satisfied with the project.
Thirdly,Walt Disney always pursue their passion and believes that their money will flow eventually.
Walt Disney undergo bankrupt more than once, invest everything he had in terms of his own
personal assets in order to build his studio, his films and pursue his dreams. The greater profit one
project produced, the deeper intensity of the next project would be. His vision was constantly
devoloping, and he utilize whatever capital he had to allow that vision to evolve. His films and
theme parks were symbols of love, construct to revolutionize an industry, rather than magnify
profits.
Fourthly, Walt Disney always stay true to his values and missions. Walt Disney was famous for
quoting, "I hope that we never lose sight of one thing, that it was all started by a mouse." Many
years later, Mickey Mouse is still the main icon of the Disney franchise, defining all the good will
and imagination Disney represents. He's also a constant indication that the company has strong roots

Comparing Two Differences In Disney And Disneyland And...
Although both parks are Walt Disney's ideas being portrayed, Disneyland has quite a few differences
from Walt Disney World. For example, Disney World is comprised of four parks whereas
Disneyland is only made up of two. Disneyland opened its doors to the public in 1955, located in
Anaheim, California. It included features such as: Sleeping Beauty's castle, eighteen attractions, one
resort hotel and the very first monorail system in the eastern hemisphere. Whereas Walt Disney
World opened its doors in 1971, located in Orlando, Florida; featuring things such like Cinderella's
castle, fifteen attractions and two resort hotels. Some similarities are: both places allow you to
participate in the Disney College Program, both are Walt Disney's dreams becoming real, the
different themes in the main parks, some of the rides and pin trading. When Disneyland opened it
rested on an 85–acre property, and only had about eighteen attractions. However, some of the rides
featured on opening day are the most iconic ones still running in both locations. On the first day the
opened the doors, thousands of people began rushing into the parks to see Walt Disney's dreams
become a reality. Upon walking in, guests were overwhelmed with all these magical ideas coming to
life. Sleeping Beauty's Castle stands 70+ feet tall at the entrance of the park, however it does seem
to be bigger, due to the kind of architecture they used. They used bigger blocks on the bottom and as

Descriptive Essay About A House
On a dry hot day in the middle of August, I was awaken to mother's happy voice saying, "We 're
here guys!" My excited family and I had just arrived at our two–story brick house at a beautiful
resort called "Ding Ding Castle" in Orlando, Florida. My mom, Aunt Wanda, Uncle TJ, cousin
Cameron, friend Ronald, Grandmother Doris, Granddad Carlton, sister Kenzie, cousin Kaylan, and I
were all planning on staying one long week together. When I got out of the car, I immediately
smelled the fresh air and smoke from someone having a barbeque nearby and could taste the fresh
grass that had just been finely cut. The bright yellow sun was beaming down on us, making me
sweat instantly. I looked around and saw the rows of houses next to each other and noticed that each
one had its own personal swimming pool in the back. There were tall palm trees in each yard and
every house had new and shiny cars in the driveway. Our house was two stories high and was made
of bright red bricks that made it stand out from all of the other houses. The house was surrounded
with light green grass and had a porch with dark blue chairs sitting in a row. It was definitely one of
the biggest and prettiest houses I had ever seen
This is going to be one heck of a week. My thoughts were interrupted by my granddad's deep and
tired voice saying, "Sarah, come help us get the bags." I grabbed as many heavy bags as I could and
headed for the brown double doors. My grandmother quickly and carefully punched in a

Walt Disney Company And Its International Theme Parks
Before discussing the cultural missteps taken by the Walt Disney Company (TWDC) at their
international theme parks, a quick overview of the company and its international theme parks will be
given. The Walt Disney Company is an entertainment conglomerate with business divisions in
movies, television, radio, theater, publishing, and theme parks. Since the focus of this paper is
international theme parks, only a brief history of the American theme parks will be discussed. Walt
Disney thought of the idea of the theme park one day when he took his daughters to a local park and
watched them as they rode the merry–go–round (Disney, 2009). Disney wanted a place where
children and their parents could have fun and enjoy the rides together (Disney, ... Show more

Tokyo Disneyland
Tokyo Disneyland (TDL) was the Walt Disney Company's first attempt at planning and developing
an international theme park. In the 1970's after Walt Disney's death, the Walt Disney Company was
not doing well financially when the Oriental Land Company (OLC) approached the company about
opening a theme park in Tokyo. The Oriental Land Company, according to Raz (1999), author of
Riding the Black Ship: Japan and Tokyo Disneyland, is a partnership between two large firms in
Japan, the Mitsui Real Estate Development and Keisei Electric Railway (p.4). The Walt Disney
Company was hesitant to open a new theme park in its current financial state, but the OLC offered
them a deal that was hard to resist. The Oriental Land Company would own and operate the Tokyo
Disneyland while the Walt Disney Company would receive "10 percent of admissions fees and 5
percent of the revenues from food and souvenir sales" (Raz, 1999, p. 27). The Walt Disney
Company also received licensing fees up to 20 million dollars for their characters, attractions, and
more, as well as control over the design of the park and control of park operations (Raz, 1999, p. 27;
Eisner & Schwartz, 1998, p.263). Although the deal seemed alluring at the time, the Walt Disney
Company would soon come to regret the deal they made with the Oriental Land Company.
Tokyo Disneyland opened on April 15th, 1983 and is described as "a carbon copy of its American
counterparts"

Disney 's Version Of The Princess With Blonde Hair
People usually visualize Cinderella as the Disney's version of the princess with blonde hair who
ventures off to the royal ball and meets Prince Charming. Cinderella's story has been around for
many centuries, along with many different models of her story. Most viewed as the aspect of
eventually escaping from her evil stepmother in the end. Cinderella was first called, Cinderwench
which came about as she would sit on cinders and ashes in her story after doing chores. Eventually,
the youngest sibling formatted the name to a nicer version as, Cinderella. Most people know
Cinderella's story referring to the tale created by Charles Perrault in 1697. (McIntyre 4). Charles
Perrault's story will be the main focus for this paper. He was the first to start including the pumpkin,
glass slipper and the fairy godmother into the tale. His version was the outline that undertook the
formation of creating Disney's well known animation in 1950. (Donahue 2)
The fairytale involves a gentleman getting remarried to a lady with two daughters along with his
own, Cinderella. The second wife was not pleased to have a selfless stepdaughter being viewed
much better than her own, since their personalities were opposite. She begins to assign outrageous
chores and providing the attic as her bedroom. At last, a ball was announced by the King's son as
Cinderella's stepsisters planned to go. When the day has come, the two sisters were off to the ball,
leaving Cinderella in tears as it was her desire to go.

Living In A Diverse World: Discrimination And...
Living in a Diverse World Throughout history there has been discrimination. Everyone is part of a
minority and part of a privilege group. We all have been on the receiving end of discrimination. We
are also part of the privilege group and can take steps further to overcome discrimination. We live in
a world with many types of people. A lot of times people find reasons to not get along with each
other or to make one group better than another group. Oppression occurs when one group treats
another group unjustly. An example of oppression would be when someone is pullover for DWB
(driving while black). Today people live in a bubble and we let oppression happen. Social construct
happens and people assumption about people on their race. ... Show more content on

Disney Informative Speech

  • 1. Disney Informative Speech Disney World: Not Just for Kids General Purpose: To inform Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the variety of activities available to adults at the Walt Disney World Resort. Central Idea: The three aspects of Walt Disney World that cater to adults are the "five star" amenities, annual special events, and sports & recreation activities. I would like to ask the audience: When you think of a vacation in Disney World, what comes to mind? John Cloud from Time International stated it correctly when he said "You're thinking roving packs of sunburned children who let their ice cream drip on your toes as you wait to ride Space Mountain. You're thinking overpriced hot dogs and hotel pools crammed with little kids leaving warm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... vi. Disney Corporate Strategy(a).Pdf Olin Business School Washington University S–02–001 Published: 2002 Revised: 2009 Disney Corporate Strategy (A) Barbarians at the Magic Kingdom's Gate* Introduction The next big takeover fight – and it would be a beauty – may involve Walt Disney Productions. By the time you get this issue, Disney's defense strategy may already be unfolding. But it will produce no quick victory for Disney even if a white knight comes along, and even if the principle attacker, Saul Steinberg, can be bought off. One by one, Hollywood's great studios have been plucked by the smart out–of–town moneymen. Paramount by the late Charles Bluhdorn. Twentieth Century–Fox by Marvin Davis and Marc Rich. Also in 1949, Disney formed a music company to create, produce and maintain control over the music and songs featured in Disney productions but often performed by famous artists. Disney later moved into live–action features with "Treasure Island" in 1950. Disney continued to innovate in the live–action format by combining animation with live action in the film "Mary Poppins." As Disney's film library had grown, Disney brought distribution in–house with the formation of Buena Vista Distribution Co., in 1953. In films, Disney kept costs low by developing its own talent pool. For cartoon features, characters were infinitely reusable and never required a salary, while for live– action features, Disney shied away from using well–known and expensive talent. Audiences were drawn because of the reputation Disney had established for providing quality, reliable, and predictable family entertainment. In the early 1950s, Disney was quick to recognize the growing medium of television to provide new outlets for Disney characters with "The Wonderful World of Disney" first airing in 1953 and "The Mickey Mouse Club" in 1955. Disney's television productions both the long–running shows and features were quite successful. During the same time, Walt Disney ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Disney Chairman and CEO Robert Iger, along with Star Wars creator George Lucas, set the financial world and nerd–universe on their ear when they announced that Disney was purchasing Lucasfilm for the out–of–this–world sum of $4 billion (the same amount they paid for Marvel) (Screenrant). Disney is buying Lucasfilm for $4 billion, adding the legendary Star Wars franchise to the entertainment giant 's stable of characters. Lucasfilm is 100% owned by founder George Lucas. The purchase culminates a one and a half year pursuit of the Lucas empire, Disney 's CEO said (USA Today). One weekend last October, Robert Iger, chief executive officer of Walt Disney (DIS), sat through all six Star Wars films. He'd seen them before, of course. This time, he took notes. Disney was in secret negotiations to acquire Lucasfilm, the company founded by Star Wars creator George Lucas, and Iger needed to do some due diligence (Bloomberg). Negotiation is one of the most important as well as one of the most interesting and challenging aspects of supply management. In industry and at most levels of government, the term "negotiation" frequently causes misunderstandings. In industry, negotiation sometimes is confused with "haggling" and "price chiseling." Increasingly, negotiations are conducted by cross–functional teams. These teams must be well coordinated to function as an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Walt Disney : Corporate Image Of Affloyee Expectationsments Walt Disney, the man behind the name, envisioned on building a corporate image of exceeding customer expectations for decades to come, which in turn has resulted in the organisation focusing on two main customer service element strategies, Disney's Four Keys and Disney's Seven Service Points, generated from the Quality Service Compass (The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies – Parks and Resorts Press, 2013). Ensuring these two strategies are correctly implemented and followed by all cast members is crucial in creating magical experiences for guests. Firstly, to understand these strategies and correctly analyse them it is important to understand that customer experience is a compilation of interactions and perceptions between a person and a company, as perceived by the conscious and subconscious of a customer, with the blend of rational organisational performance, stimulated senses and evoked emotions, both which are measured across all moments of contact against customer expectations (Shaw, Dibeehi & Walden, 2010). Therefore, it is crucial that the organisation takes a customer–centred approach of quality service as the number one driving force for business operations (Omachonu, Ross & Swift, 2004). Disney focuses to go above and beyond to exceed these standards and expectations with their two previously mentioned strategies (The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies – Parks and Resorts Press, 2013), however, it is important to analyse whether the strategies ... • 13. Marketing Strategy Of Walt Disney World Walt Disney once said, "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." Walt Disney was one of the most successful entrepreneurs of all time, a man who took a dream and pursued it, making a worldwide famous company, Walt Disney World. This paper will look at the history, financial situations, and marketing strategy of Walt Disney World. As Walt would say, "Sit back and enjoy!" In the early 1960s, Walt Disney wanted to give the residents of Eastern United States the opportunity to enjoy the entertainment that was being offered at his California's Disneyland theme park. Walt and his team the WED Enterprises settled on picking Florida as the new parks location. Florida offered weather that was similar year round, and was already the number one location for tourism. The announcement of the idea was delivered on November 16, 1965 at an Orlando press conference. Sadly, Walt Disney passed in December of 1967, leaving behind his dream for the park. However, President Roy O. Disney, Donn B. Tatum, and E. Cardon Walker, the top three executives for the company carried on the plans to open the new park. After many months of construction and planning, the park held its grand opening October 1, 1971. Since then there have been many additions and openings in the park, new traditions made, parades, and special guests attending. The theme park was located in a place called Anaheim in California. It was worth an amount of $17 million. The park was initially an orange grove before it was transformed into a theme park. An actor and a future US president Ronald Reagan presided over the activities while launching the new park. Many people were invited on that opening ceremony to witness the official opening the park. The obvious choice if you have kids would be Walt Disney World Resort, but there is also Universal Studios Resort, which could be better for kids older that 8 or 10. In terms of size, Disney World is far larger and have four theme parks, while Universal Studios have only two. Each park seems to be perfect for one day, and that is the same for both Disney and Universal. If what is important for you is the amount of attractions, then you should know that despite the size, Universal Studios has more concentrated and it is far more easy to do every ride of a park in just one day. • 21. Informative Essay On Disneyland Vicente Mendoza Mr. Montgomery US History 11 March, 2015 Disneyland Disneyland is the happiest place on Earth. It is one of the two theme parks built on the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California and it's not only in California, it's also in Tokyo, France and Hong Kong. It opened on July 17, 1955 by the one and only Walter Elias "Walt" Disney. Disney was born in Hermosa, Illinois on December 5, 1901 and died on December 15, 1966 at the age of 65. He died of lung cancer that was brought from his lifelong chain–smoking. This amusement park came onto Walt's head after seeing his own two daughters in an amusement park that was dirty with trash everywhere. After thinking about the filthiness in the amusement park, he imagined a clean and safe amusement park which is now known as Disneyland. Disney isn't just only known for being the founder of Disneyland and Walt Disney World, but also for being an innovated animator who created the famous cartoon character known as Mickey Mouse. Disneyland takes up 6,964,250 sq feet or 647,000 m². This amusement park was $17 million but that really doesn't matter since they get about 14–17 million people ... • 23. Technology Is Transforming The Retail Experience NFC Technology is Transforming the Retail Experience I am a completely forgetful person. I am not proud to admit that, but the other day I was going to grab lunch and while in the drive–thru at Wendy's, I had the ungodly fear of realizing after I ordered that I had left my wallet back at the office. Embarrassed and strapped for any excuse that didn't sound pathetic, the employee at the drive–thru informed me I could pay for my lunch with my smartphone. I had to download the My Wendy 's" app, which contained a virtual card synced to my checking account. The downloading and setting up of the account was rather quick – although probably not as quick as the impatient people in line behind me would have liked – but the process was painless. Unlike using a credit or debit card, which could easily be scanned by an unscrupulous employee, who could get access to my checking account, the smartphone transaction is safe and my identity and checking account is protected. • 30. What Are The Differences Between The World And Disneyland Disney World vs. Disneyland Many people wonder if there is much of a difference between Disney World and Disneyland. Travelers have questions like, "Which one is more worth going to" or "Which one is cheaper?" Those who have visited both parks may already know some distinct differences, but there are some things people don't realize. While Disney World and Disneyland seem almost identical, their accommodations, attractions, and size are surprisingly very different, which helps prove Disney World is the better option when trying to really get the full experience. The first major difference is attractions. While both parks may have some of the same titled rides, they can be very different versions of each other. Suzanne Rowan Kelleher of tripsavvy.com states, "Since the Magic Kingdom was based on Disneyland, the two parks are very similar in layout and share some–but not all–of the same attractions. Yet even when both parks offer the same ride, there are frequently differences. For example, the Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at Disneyland are longer and considerably different to the Disney World versions." This gives a clear example of how the rides have the same name but can vary greatly. While both parks have attractions that the other doesn't, Disney world has many more unique attractions than Disneyland. The second major difference is size. It is commonly known that Disney World is much bigger than Disneyland. After the first Disney park, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The more Walt dreamed of a "magical park," the more imaginative and elaborate it became" (justdisney.com). This vision that Walt Disney had was the vision of one of the most well– known places on earth, Disneyland. Originally, he planned for the park to cover an area of 8 acres where his employees and families could go to relax. However, World War II halted these plans that he had, which ultimately gave him more time to come up with more ideas for this vision, and he came to the quick realization that 8 acres was not nearly enough. "Finally in 1953, he had the Stanford Research Institute conduct a survey for a 100–acre site, outside of Los Angeles. He needed space to build rivers, waterfalls, and mountains; he would have flying elephants and giant teacups; a fairy–tale castle, moon rockets, and a scenic railway; all inside a magic kingdom he called 'Disneyland'" (justdisney.com). To him, location was his top priority, and it would have to be in the Los Angeles area, while also being accessible by freeway, as well as affordable as he did not have much money at the time. "The search for the best spot finally ended in the rural Anaheim, California with a purchase of a 160–acre orange grove near the junction of the Santa Ana Freeway (I–5) and Harbor Boulevard" (justdisney.com). Analysis Of Disney's Main Core Competencies Internal Environment In order for Disney to remain a dominate player within all of its markets, the company must focus on key aspects of its internal environment. Disney must concentrate on aspects such as core competencies, corporate governance, and synergies to assist in forming a sustainable competitive advantage. Core Competencies One of Disney's main core competencies is its marketing ability. The Disney brand has been consistently listed on Interbrand's Best Global Brands list. In 2014, the firm ranked #13 and in 2013, it was ranked #14. According to Interbrand, Disney's lasting brand success has to do with the company's ability to emphasize creativity, technology, and global growth within its long–term business strategy. Another factor that attributes to the firm success is its capacity to understand what consumers want and how to personalize their experiences. For example, the new MagicBand and mobile application, which was introduced at Disney World in 2013, allows the customers with the use of technology to personalize their Disney experience. The band enables the participants to travel lighter throughout their entire vacation. The band can act as a hotel key, credit card, and ticket. • 71. Descriptive Essay About A House On a dry hot day in the middle of August, I was awaken to mother's happy voice saying, "We 're here guys!" My excited family and I had just arrived at our two–story brick house at a beautiful resort called "Ding Ding Castle" in Orlando, Florida. My mom, Aunt Wanda, Uncle TJ, cousin Cameron, friend Ronald, Grandmother Doris, Granddad Carlton, sister Kenzie, cousin Kaylan, and I were all planning on staying one long week together. When I got out of the car, I immediately smelled the fresh air and smoke from someone having a barbeque nearby and could taste the fresh grass that had just been finely cut. The bright yellow sun was beaming down on us, making me sweat instantly. I looked around and saw the rows of houses next to each other and noticed that each one had its own personal swimming pool in the back. There were tall palm trees in each yard and every house had new and shiny cars in the driveway. Our house was two stories high and was made of bright red bricks that made it stand out from all of the other houses. The house was surrounded with light green grass and had a porch with dark blue chairs sitting in a row. It was definitely one of the biggest and prettiest houses I had ever seen This is going to be one heck of a week. My thoughts were interrupted by my granddad's deep and tired voice saying, "Sarah, come help us get the bags." I grabbed as many heavy bags as I could and headed for the brown double doors. My grandmother quickly and carefully punched in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tokyo Disneyland Tokyo Disneyland (TDL) was the Walt Disney Company's first attempt at planning and developing an international theme park. In the 1970's after Walt Disney's death, the Walt Disney Company was not doing well financially when the Oriental Land Company (OLC) approached the company about opening a theme park in Tokyo. The Oriental Land Company, according to Raz (1999), author of Riding the Black Ship: Japan and Tokyo Disneyland, is a partnership between two large firms in Japan, the Mitsui Real Estate Development and Keisei Electric Railway (p.4). The Walt Disney Company was hesitant to open a new theme park in its current financial state, but the OLC offered them a deal that was hard to resist. The Oriental Land Company would own and operate the Tokyo Disneyland while the Walt Disney Company would receive "10 percent of admissions fees and 5 percent of the revenues from food and souvenir sales" (Raz, 1999, p. 27). The Walt Disney Company also received licensing fees up to 20 million dollars for their characters, attractions, and more, as well as control over the design of the park and control of park operations (Raz, 1999, p. 27; Eisner & Schwartz, 1998, p.263). Although the deal seemed alluring at the time, the Walt Disney Company would soon come to regret the deal they made with the Oriental Land Company. Tokyo Disneyland opened on April 15th, 1983 and is described as "a carbon copy of its American counterparts" ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
