sometimes even eliminate the symptoms of autism. Learn how now!
Does Coconut Oil Help Autism?
If you or someone you love has autism, you know how frustrating it can be. You sometimes feel as if
you are at the end of your rope and that nothing can be done other than leave that person or child on
pharmaceutical medications that have some devastating side effects. Until now.
Coconut oil is successfully being used to strengthen the immune system, prevent illnesses and
improve a person's general overall health. But how can that help autism? Coconut oil is comprised
of medium chain fatty acids and these fatty acids have powerful antimicrobial properties that have
been proven to kill harmful bacteria, fungal infections, viruses and yeast overgrowths that allow

Ketones and glucose are what feed the brain and keep it healthy and functioning properly. Ketones
supply the brain with energy and when that happens it triggers the activation of proteins called brain
derived neurotrophic factors (BDNFs). These BDNFs are what the brain uses for cell maintenance,
brain repair and brain function.
If the ketone levels in the body are raised to a high enough level, they can heal, repair and reduce
micoglia over activation, help eliminate oxidative stress and calm chronic inflammation while
stimulating the growth of healthy new brain cells. And this results in normal brain function.
So how exactly does this work? Well, excessive Glutamate in the brain is what contributes to
decreasing ketones and as mentioned above ketones are what supply the brain with energy. Too
much Glutamate in the brain can be toxic. Therefore, using coconut oil to neutralize Glutamate is a
great way to create a therapeutic ketosis in the

Coconut Oil: Fungal Infection
Meta Data
Learn how to use coconut oil to treat fungal infections, including coconut oil for ringworm, coconut
oil for jock itch, coconut oil for yeast infections and using coconut oil for nail fungus.
Using Coconut Oil For Fungal Infections
What are fungal infections and how can coconut oil help treat them? Fungi are organisms that live in
or around water, air, soil or other surfaces. When these spores end up on or in your body, they could
ultimately cause a fungal infection. Those with a weakened immune system are the most at risk.
Fungal infections can be treated topically, orally or through the use of anti–fungal medications.
However, many anti–fungal medications come with a myriad of side effects. Therefore, most people
prefer to treat fungal infections using natural alternatives. There are many different types of fungal
infections; however, we are going to focus on the most common.

Lauric acid provides coconut oil its antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties. Therefore it is
commonly used to treat ringworm. And as an added benefit, coconut oil also provides relief for the
itching and the flaking as well as soothing the skin. It's best to use unrefined, virgin, cold–pressed,
organic coconut oil for best results. All you do is apply it directly to the affected areas and massage
it in. You will do this approximately four times a day. This will, in most mild cases of ringworm,
provide relief within one weeks time. However, you should continue using it for another week to
help prevent the fungus from

Every year millions of people suffer from allergies of all kinds and swear they would do just about
anything to make it stop! The usual routine is to go to the doctor where he will tell you that you

need to buy some Benadryl or other lack–luster preventive allergy medication and that you will have
to take it for the rest of your life. You have got to be kidding me! Surely there is something you can

Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which is a natural immune system booster; therefore, consuming
coconut oil whenever you can will help boost your immune system and in turn help relieve your

Yeast, aka Candida can really take a toll on your system and is one of the most common contributors
to the seasonal allergy epidemic. Adding coconut oil to your diet will help you battle yeast
overgrowth, which will help you rid yourself of many nasty allergy symptoms.

Why Do Coconut Coconuts Essay
When one considers fruit, there may be bland thoughts of healthy living, diets and the whole nine

endowed with a powerful medicinal by–product that is naturally stored within them. Hence my
product choice for export. To the Chief operating officer of Investors Inc., I present to you my
platform. In the Caribbean, many feel that all fruits are grown on each island in the exact same

You may want to know why did I choose Coconuts? Or why export to Cuba? Here's my idea, Cuba
is well known for its medicinal practices and farmers markets embraced by tourist and locals.
Coconuts are good for the immune system, skin treatments such as scars, stretch marks, and
discolorations. Consequently, coconut oil promotes heart health and decrease the chance of cardiac
arrest. Coconut oil is also rubbed on the skin after cosmetic surgery to diminish or reduce the point
of incision. Raw dry coconut is excellent for the enamel of the teeth, and the cleansing of one's
palette. Coconut Milk helps a woman's body replenish nutrients after childbirth and during
breastfeeding. According to Distancefromto.net Cuba is in such close proximity to the Bahamas

Descriptive Vacation
My two best friends, Diego, Jonathan, and I were on the flight to Puerto Rico. The two of them were
talking when I fell asleep.
I was on a beach somewhere in the world with Diego and Jonathan. I looked at the ocean, and it
started to make bubbles. Then the water receded in a fraction of a second. And in a blink of an eye, I
saw a giant wave coming at us. My friends and I ran as fast as we could to higher grounds. I woke
up, looked around to verify that my two friends were still there. To my contentment, they were yet at
the same place as they were before. It was a nightmare, nothing else. I was safe.
The flight attendant announced on the speaker "You have now arrived at your final destination, San
Juan, Puerto Rico. It is 13:30 local time and the temperature is 28 degrees Celsius. Thank you for
flying with us, and we hope to see you again".
We got up from our seats, took our luggage from the overhead compartment and exited the airport. A
taxi brought us to our hotel in the center of San Juan where we were going to stay for three nights.
We visited a little bit this charming city, and at night we went to eat in a Puerto Rican restaurant
where they served delicious traditional food of the country. Our small group of friends came back to
our hotel to get a good sleep as we were exhausted from our journey. Our hotel room was lovely,
and since I was tired, I fell asleep directly.
We were walking on a Puerto Rican street to our favorite restaurant in San Juan when it started
raining. Jonathan, Diego and I decided to take shelter under a palm tree. A few seconds later I heard
a "boom" and then the noise of someone falling on the floor. I looked around, and right next to me
there was Diego, lying still on the ground; he had been knocked out by the coconut that fell from the
tree. Was he alive? Was he dead? I opened my eyes; I was still in my hotel room. It was again only a
nightmare. I looked at the alarm clock, and it was just 4:30 A.M.
I knew that I could not sleep again, so I waited a couple of hours for Jonathan and Diego to wake
up. I wondered if I should tell them about my two nightmares, but I realized they would think it is
nothing and probably believe I am crazy. I guess I will just keep these dreams to

Coconut Oil Formula Essay
Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula The visual advertisement(Ad) I will be analyzing is titled "Palmer's

Kofi Siriboe stars in. The publisher of the Ad is targeting working class, young black females who
likes to use nature comprised products. The advertisement above is aiming to convince young black
women who like to use natural oils for their skin that Palmer's coconut oil is best for them. In the

In the bottom right corner there is a lotion bottle and a spray bottle with creme bodies and a brown

front of it and the bottles and coconut all sitting on top of a glass table. Lastly, with a orange circle
on top of the coconut stating "24 HR MOISTURE". The author uses all of these visual images to
persuasively appeal to the audience in three ways. The first appeal the author uses to persuade the
audience is pathos. One of the visual images he used to lure the audience in was the young brown
skinned woman. The woman has moisturized, soothing skin with no blemishes or scars, and wears a
beige onesie supposedly pouring on her skin what looks like the Palmer's coconut oil product, but is
suppose to portray coconut water. The woman the author uses is supposed to allow the customers to
see that their body can also look just like hers if the women uses their product. Also, since coconut
water is a substance that is naturally refreshing , this will make the audience's body soothing when
they put the product on them because water is a good feeling natural substance. This all proves that
the author of the Ad wants other young black women to know that the oil is

DOST–PTRI turned difficult to remove stains from these husks into a textile dye called coconut
pink. They found out that young coconut husk extract imparts red to maroon color on silk, piña–seda
and piña while it produces an old rose color on cotton. They also established colorfastness,
laundering and light ratings of the dyed materials and found these to be satisfactory for all these
types. Coconut husks' potential to impart red color comes as a necessary indulgence for textile
manufacturers who use in great quantities the non–colorfast red dye from sibukao (Caesalpinnia
sappan). The textile institute's research study revealed that young coconut husks sourced from
different locations produce varying shades of red. This required thus hue and color tint matching
capabilities and adjustments in the dyeing parameters. In addition, DOST–PTRI found that coconuts
from high elevations yield almost no color compared with coconuts from coastals and low– lying
areas. This new use for young coconut husks holds promise for additional income for farmers.
Likewise, the new technique's requirement for compulsory chopping of husks before extraction
facilitates rapid decomposition. This reduces the risk of clogging of waterways and drainage
systems along coconut processing

Analysis Of The Poem ' Coca Cola And Coco Frio ' By Martin...
Disappearing Culture Every single individual on this planet has their own distinctive identity and
culture. Our culture helps us identify who we are and where we come from. In today's world, it
appears that cultural diffusion has become a normal part of everyone's life as cultural trends, beliefs
and customs spread quickly from one culture to another. In his poem, "Coca–Cola and Coco Frio,"
Martin Espada provides his readers with a great example of cultural diffusion that a boy encounters
when he visits his native country, Puerto Rico. The "fat boy" mentioned in the poem is none other
than Martin Espada himself (3). By sharing his childhood experience in Puerto Rico, Espada tries to
prove that acceptance of other cultures can have a negative impact as people incline to neglect their
own cultural values and begin to bear a resemblance to other countries. As a child, Espada travelled
from Brooklyn, New York to his homeland, Puerto Rico to visit his family for the first time. During
his visit, Espada fears that Puerto Rican culture is vanishing and threatened by American values
imposed on them due to the presence of American corporate powers. It is known that Puerto Rican
culture is a mix of many cultures and is strongly influenced by Taino Indians, America, Africa and
Spain ("Culture and Traditions in Puerto Rico"). During the Spanish–American War, Puerto Rico
became the territory of the United States when it was conquered on July 25, 1898 ("Puerto Rico: A
U.S. Territory").

My Mother : A Short Story
My mother had such a strong effect on her children that it's easy to see the obvious. She taught us to
be non–conformist, to follow our talents and dreams, to "just give it a try." She taught us to play
Scrabble to learn the importance of words, and to play cards to learn our numbers. Monopoly was
for counting money as well as for basic economics: how much does this house cost? what's the rent?
is it worth it?
But each of her children took away much more than the basic life skills embodied by my favorite
quote, "Never borrow money from a loan shark; look at Three–Fingered Dave." And what each of us
took away is kaleidoscopic, the same basic picture, each viewed through our individual lenses, so
that you'd never know we were talking about the same woman unless you looked much deeper. I
don't know all of what my siblings saw, but I can tell you my vision.
Make your world as big as possible. DO talk to strangers, take the bus to the end of the line and
back to see where it goes, let's see if we can make some stilts and walk on them. When the
supermarket was selling a Webster's Collegiate Dictionary in pieces, a letter a week, my mother
struggled to get the dollar. We almost made it; we had 24 letters. But missing "S" and "T" irked me
so much that in my senior year of college I splurged on a complete dictionary. I still own it 40 years
later. It may not know about megabytes, but it covers the sibilants lavishly.

Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) is one of the main crops which is abundantly produced in the
Philippines. Coconut can be served as food and can be produced to various products and by–
products. Some food examples are copra, coconut oil, coconut milk, latik, desiccated coconut,
coconut flour, etc. As compared to other agricultural crops, coconut provides more products and by–

people especially in Southeast Asia, Pacific region, Africa and some countries in Latin America,
considered coconut as a significant crop in agriculture and industries (The Coconut Industry, n.d.).
Since supply of coconut is very essential to many countries, it is essential to monitor its production.
The production per land area can be quantified through crop yield.
Crop yield is used to determine the efficiency of food production. Basically, it is the amount of
produced crop per area of land. Moreover, it is sometimes called as 'agricultural output' and
conveyed in kilograms/hectare or metric tons/hectare. Essentially, the use of evaluating the crop

Coconut Oil Vs Alzheimer's Disease
Although the coconut is one of the few foods that can be identified as a superfood today, its oil
guarantees an array of health–related medicinal and dietary benefits.
For generations, coconut oil has held a number of medicinal claims. Of its more recent claims,
studies show that it can actually fight Alzheimer's disease (Schardt). According to Schardt, "coconut
oil is unusual because it contains a high percentage of medium–chain triglycerides or MTCs". This
chemical is what essentially helps to increase the brain function of demented individuals.

The good thing about fiber is that it contains no calories. Fiber helps you feel fuller, which keeps

A lot of juices are very poor in fiber. That is because the process behind juicing is the removal of
solid part of the fruit (which is mostly the fiber) and retains only the liquid part or the juice.
Coconut water appears to be a clear liquid, but the wonderful thing about it is its rich fiber content.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Coconut Oil
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Hair structure is made up of different layers, chemical bonds and amino acids or proteins. The
hair bulb is a structure with actively growing cells which produce hair as we see it. The hair shaft is
the part of a hair that we all see above your scalp is made of a protein named keratin, cemented and
compacted together. Keratin is quite a tough protein and is resilient to wear and tear. The hair shaft
also contains hydrogen bonds which give your hair its flexibility. The hair shaft is made up of three
layers, the cortex, the medulla, and the cuticle. The cortex forms your hair's colour. It contains long
keratin filaments held together by hydrogen bonds and disulphide and the health of the cortex
depends of the cuticle protecting it. The medulla isn't always present but consists of a thin core of air
spaces and transparent cells. The cuticle is a protective layer containing overlapping cells similar to
fish scales. The outer cuticle holds your hair follicle similar to a Velcro–like bond.

The Cay Conflicts
In many great books the characters will face a conflict if not multiple conflicts that will test the
characters behaviors and actions and throughout the book these conflicts can change how the
character or characters act. The book The Cay by Theodore Taylor is no exception to this. In The
Cay, Phillip's character reveals that because of many hardships he developed independence, bravery,
and cleverness. Phillip demonstrated independence after experiencing the hardships of blindness as
evidenced in the novel when he was able to survive on the cay after Timothy's death. At the
beginning of the book after becoming blind Phillip acts almost completely helpless. In the passage it
states, "In wild excitement, I stumbled up and fell overboard. I went ... Show more content on

At the beginning of this book Phillip is scared and frightened by almost every sound or little thing
he hears on the cay. As evidenced in the novel, "During those first few days on the island, the times I
spent alone were terrible. It was of course not being able to see that made all the sounds so
frightening."(Taylor 65). During the first few days on the island and after becoming blind almost
every sound scares and be starts acting very paranoid. Then by around the middle of the story Phillip
talks about how since being blind his hearing has gotten remarkably better and he can identify stuff
better now just by the sound. Due to this he's become more brave and scared be less things, but he is
still not completely brave alone on the island. This is supported in the story when it says, "I went up
about ten feet and froze. I could not move up or down. My legs and arms were rigid. Timothy
standing below to catch me if I fell, called up softly, Phill–eep, 'tis no shame to ease your own self
downg to d'san."(Taylor 98). At this point he has become much more brave since they got to the
island, but he still gets scared by a lot. This demonstrates that he was still too frightened to climb up
the palm tree and get the coconuts. By the end of the story Phillip demonstrates being much more
brave than when first arriving at the island. This demonstrated well by this evidence "This time, I
dived in earnest. I went straight down, touched the bottom, and then took a few strokes toward the

The Treatment Of Bibi Haldar By Jhumpa Lahiri
This excerpt from "The Treatment of Bibi Haldar" by Jhumpa Lahiri has multiple themes, but one
that really stands out above others is the effects of ignorance. One would disagree with my choice of
theme, but one must not be so rash with their disagreement, first you must look at the writing
techniques and the choice of words that Lahiri uses in the excerpt. The ignorance in which I talk
about circulates around Bibi's family. If Lahiri describes her events in chronological order, which I
believe she does, then we can see that in the first paragraph, the family first expresses their
ignorance of this poor girl's illness when they contact priests, religion, etc. in order to heal their
daughter instead of official medical specialists. In the following paragraph, the author informs us of
the many 'specialists' in the medical field that the family had contacted in regards to Bibi's ailment.

This room was incredibly small, the type that would get unbearably hot in summer, and freezing
cold in winter. Small, stuffy rooms, such as Bibi's, are breading grounds for diseases and bacteria.
On top of that, she has to work in order to get cotton for clothes, not even clothes; she also had to
work for her daily meals, and provisions. These factors are not uncontrollable factors, nor are they
factors that are unchangeable, but do to her family's ignorance, these factors exist Unfortunately,
Bibi is forced to live like this, and due to her own ignorance, she doesn't know any better.
Ignorance can have so many negative effects. Lahiri shows us evidence of the ignorance in each of
the paragraphs from the excerpt; the words she chooses in the paragraphs help the reader recognize
her theme, being ignorance. Lahiri has taught us that ignorance is truly NOT bliss; in fact, it's the
opposite of bliss. Ignorance does not only cause sorrow, sadness, unhappiness, and pain unto

The Cosmetics Industry : A Multibillion Dollar Industry
When people talk about healthy shopping, they seem to miss the non–eatables section. This section
includes the things that people use every day, but don't think about their side effects. Some of these
products can be just as damaging to your health as their food counterparts. These toxins can be
absorbed by your skin and through breathing them in, seeping into your blood stream and being
stored in your fat tissues. This can lead to cancer, changing DNA, causing infertility, neurotoxicity,
or an array of other medical problems. This change will take time–there lies the danger. You don't
even know about it until it's too late.
The cosmetics industry is a multibillion–dollar industry. What many people don't know is that they
use very toxic chemicals which were shown in animal studies to be linked to birth defects, cancer,
and skin conditions. These chemicals are found in things that look harmless, like shampoos,
conditioners, antiperspirants, cosmetics, and especially nail polishes.
A report published by the Environmental Working Group stated that they found some disturbing
evidence that showed a very toxic chemical was found in every single person who was tested. This
chemical is called dibutyl phthalate, or DBP. The CDC found in their research that the absolute
highest levels were in women of reproductive age.
"Major loopholes in federal law allow cosmetics manufacturers to put unlimited amounts of

Coir fiber can also be used as substitute for jute in making rice, copra, sugar, coffee, bags and

The well board is manufactured from coir dust and short fibers. No binding materials are needed as
lignin is inherent in the coconut husk. Also it is termite–proof because creosote is present in the new
material. The board produced is as good as narra, plywood or masonite.

The Effects Of Green And Sustainability On The Environment
Last decade, no one knows or cares about the word "sustainability"; however, the world we know
today is very different. Today, we encounter the term "sustainability" or "green", "environmentally
friendly", and "organic"" everywhere. It is easy to find those terms in products or services claiming
to be green in retail stores, or TV or online advertisement. As more people are becoming
environmentally conscious, businesses and organizations are looking for ways to drive more profits
while reducing the ecological footprints and minimizing their negative impacts on the environment.
Furthermore, today, more products are claiming to be green more than ever; however, the definition
of green is still unclear. For this paper, I will introduce a term, "greenwash", how it relates to green
and sustainability, and how it relates to all of us. In addition, I will focus on Vitacost Extra Virgin

What Is Coconut Oil Bad For Cholesterol?
Is Coconut Oil Bad For Cholesterol?
People are often frantic when their cholesterol numbers go up after adding coconut oil to their diet,
so they quit using it altogether. This is the worst thing you could do for your heart and here's why.
In most cases coconut oil will raise your cholesterol, but it isn't bad for your overall cholesterol
numbers. However, you need to understand why and how cholesterol numbers work, if you want
this to make sense to you.
Cholesterol is measured in two different ways. LDL which is the bad type of cholesterol, and HDL
which is the good type of cholesterol. Coconut oil contains HDL, which is why when adding
coconut oil to your diet your cholesterol levels go up. However, it's your good cholesterol that goes
up, not the bad. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But that is not the most accurate way to measure cholesterol. Your cholesterol should be measured
by your cholesterol ratio, which is your good cholesterol number versus your bad cholesterol
number. Your cholesterol ratio is a far better indicator of heart disease than your total cholesterol and
here's why.
If your LDL (bad) cholesterol number is higher than your HDL (good) cholesterol number, then
your chances of developing heart disease are higher. However, if your HDL (good) cholesterol
number is higher than your LDL (bad) cholesterol number, then your cholesterol ratio is good and
you shouldn't have reason for

Coconut Oil, Is It a Valid Culinary Choice?
Coconut and Olive are my two ?go–to? culinary oils for most cooking assignments when my ?
everyday? grapeseed oil won?t do. Most times when I use these oils, I make my decision based on
the flavor profile of the oil. In these cases, almost without exception I will use extra virgin olive oil
or virgin coconut oil. Oil purveyors sell coconut oil with labels of virgin and extra–virgin
designations, like olive oil; however, unlike olive oils, those two designations have no
differentiating meaning, the oils are identical.

Types of Coconut Oil & Coconut Oil Processing
Coconut farmers grow coconuts like any other produce, organically, without antibiotics using
natural methods to fertilize and for pest control; and non–organically, using chemical sprays for pest
control. Coconut varieties are largely know by their country of origin with the most significant
difference being the tallness of the palm tree from which they are harvested. Taller tree grow to as
much as seventy feet tall, whereas ?dwarf? palms are merely 30 feet tall. The taller palms produce
fewer but larger fruit, while dwarf palms are abundant producers of smaller fruit.
Hybrid palm trees occur naturally as well as by deliberate design. Trees such as the MayJam, a
combination of the Malayan dwarf and the Jamaican tall palm was created to be fast–growing,
abundant producers. The most notably curious and rare variety is the marcapuno coconut, a mutant
Asian variety that has gelatinous meat and very little water. If you are interested in a more complete
understanding of these varieties, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has an extensive discourse on
the subject on their website under Coconut Botany & Varieties. Therefore, when I speak of types of
coconut oil, I am referring to the processing variations and the resulting products.

Zuresh Research Papers
As a sufferer of not only dry & sensitive (dare I say intolerent) skin, I also have psoriasis
everywhere one could image. These factors often lead me to be weary of new products, as even
"hyperallergenic" labels usually lead my skin to feel as if it's searing, but every so often a product
falls into my lap that I can't even believe doesn't hurt me, and Zuresh's Full Body Cleanser and Shea
Blend have taken the cake. Zuresh is a Black owned, all natural skincare company that has been
around for almost 20 years, and is fronted by a husband and wife duo. My mother and father, always
looking for new things to help me, discovered the company's products being sold at a table as they
left a play and upon hearing that it could be used to help psoriasis and eczema (upon countless other
things), got some for us all to try. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You honestly only need a little and it lathers beautifully. The shea butter blend is very soft and easy
to apply, and leaves you moisturized all day. My theory with skincare products has always been if it
smells amazing, I probably shouldn't put it anywhere near me, but our first set smelled absloutely
incredible and didn't irritate me at all! We purchased the scent 'Island Luv', which as a soft, fruity,
tropical scent. It wasn't over powering and worked like a dream, and I'm currently on their scent
'Clean' which reminds me of fabric softner. Their products come in (1) one and (2) two pounds for
the full body cleanser, and 4 ounces, 8 ounces, and 1 pound for the shea butter blend. The products
are designed for full body usage, and can be used for the face, body, and hair. As the owner has
Lupus, the products focus on being gentle and hydrating, and can be used to nourish eczema,
psoriasis, dermatitis, HIV/Aids sores and much

Magical Realism In Paule Marshall's Praisesong For The Widow
Paule Marshall's novel Praisesong for the Widow, tells the story of a woman, Avey Johnson, and the
journeys she embarks on to find herself. Throughout the novel Paule uses magical realism as an
attempt to explicate attributes that are not able to be explained in Westernized language. Magical
realism can be defined as a method that depicts the world of people whose reality is different from
the reality that is objective. Praisesong for the Widow posses elements of magical realism; ways
they are portrayed in the text are through characters, setting and symbols.
In the process of magical realism one element is symbols, which can be words, objects, characters or
settings that represents something abstract. One artifact of magical realism present in the text is
water imagery. Throughout the text we see Avey travelling through different stages of submersion
because she is surrounded by water in the novel. According to Paule "perspiration was beginning to
sheet for her forehead despite the air conditioning in the cabin. She didn't stop to wipe it"(10). This
establishes that because Avey knew something was wrong and was in a rush to get off the cruise.
Perspiration was sweating and one example of water imagery and another is the coconut water with
rum.
Another example of water imagery in the text is the coconut water. This is water imagery because
the water represents purification. According to Marshall "Rum and coconut water... nevertheless she
almost instantly felt the first

You sometimes feel as if you are at the end of your rope and that nothing can be done other than leave that person or child on pharmaceutical medications that have some devastating side effects. Until now. Coconut oil is successfully being used to strengthen the immune system, prevent illnesses and improve a person's general overall health. But how can that help autism? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ketones and glucose are what feed the brain and keep it healthy and functioning properly. Ketones supply the brain with energy and when that happens it triggers the activation of proteins called brain derived neurotrophic factors (BDNFs). These BDNFs are what the brain uses for cell maintenance, brain repair and brain function. If the ketone levels in the body are raised to a high enough level, they can heal, repair and reduce micoglia over activation, help eliminate oxidative stress and calm chronic inflammation while stimulating the growth of healthy new brain cells. And this results in normal brain function. So how exactly does this work? Well, excessive Glutamate in the brain is what contributes to decreasing ketones and as mentioned above ketones are what supply the brain with energy. Too much Glutamate in the brain can be toxic. Therefore, using coconut oil to neutralize Glutamate is a great way to create a therapeutic ketosis in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Descriptive Vacation My two best friends, Diego, Jonathan, and I were on the flight to Puerto Rico. The two of them were talking when I fell asleep. I was on a beach somewhere in the world with Diego and Jonathan. I looked at the ocean, and it started to make bubbles. Then the water receded in a fraction of a second. And in a blink of an eye, I saw a giant wave coming at us. My friends and I ran as fast as we could to higher grounds. I woke up, looked around to verify that my two friends were still there. To my contentment, they were yet at the same place as they were before. It was a nightmare, nothing else. I was safe. The flight attendant announced on the speaker "You have now arrived at your final destination, San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is 13:30 local time and the temperature is 28 degrees Celsius. Thank you for flying with us, and we hope to see you again". We got up from our seats, took our luggage from the overhead compartment and exited the airport. A taxi brought us to our hotel in the center of San Juan where we were going to stay for three nights. We visited a little bit this charming city, and at night we went to eat in a Puerto Rican restaurant where they served delicious traditional food of the country. Our small group of friends came back to our hotel to get a good sleep as we were exhausted from our journey. Our hotel room was lovely, and since I was tired, I fell asleep directly. We were walking on a Puerto Rican street to our favorite restaurant in San Juan when it started raining. Jonathan, Diego and I decided to take shelter under a palm tree. A few seconds later I heard a "boom" and then the noise of someone falling on the floor. I looked around, and right next to me there was Diego, lying still on the ground; he had been knocked out by the coconut that fell from the tree. Was he alive? Was he dead? I opened my eyes; I was still in my hotel room. It was again only a nightmare. I looked at the alarm clock, and it was just 4:30 A.M. I knew that I could not sleep again, so I waited a couple of hours for Jonathan and Diego to wake up. I wondered if I should tell them about my two nightmares, but I realized they would think it is nothing and probably believe I am crazy. I guess I will just keep these dreams to ... Coconut Oil Formula Essay Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula The visual advertisement(Ad) I will be analyzing is titled "Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula" that was published in the December 2017 issue of "Essence Magazine" that Kofi Siriboe stars in. The publisher of the Ad is targeting working class, young black females who likes to use nature comprised products. The advertisement above is aiming to convince young black women who like to use natural oils for their skin that Palmer's coconut oil is best for them. In the bottom right corner there is a lotion bottle and a spray bottle with creme bodies and a brown tops with the name of the product, 24 hour moisture, the "NOs.." from above, and "natural coconut oil" circled written on them. To the right of the bottles an open coconut with a tahitian flower in front of it and the bottles and coconut all sitting on top of a glass table. Lastly, with a orange circle on top of the coconut stating "24 HR MOISTURE". The author uses all of these visual images to persuasively appeal to the audience in three ways. The first appeal the author uses to persuade the audience is pathos. One of the visual images he used to lure the audience in was the young brown skinned woman. The woman has moisturized, soothing skin with no blemishes or scars, and wears a beige onesie supposedly pouring on her skin what looks like the Palmer's coconut oil product, but is suppose to portray coconut water. The woman the author uses is supposed to allow the customers to see that their body can also look just like hers if the women uses their product. Also, since coconut water is a substance that is naturally refreshing , this will make the audience's body soothing when they put the product on them because water is a good feeling natural substance. They found out that young coconut husk extract imparts red to maroon color on silk, piña–seda and piña while it produces an old rose color on cotton. They also established colorfastness, laundering and light ratings of the dyed materials and found these to be satisfactory for all these types. Coconut husks' potential to impart red color comes as a necessary indulgence for textile manufacturers who use in great quantities the non–colorfast red dye from sibukao (Caesalpinnia sappan). The textile institute's research study revealed that young coconut husks sourced from different locations produce varying shades of red. This required thus hue and color tint matching capabilities and adjustments in the dyeing parameters. In addition, DOST–PTRI found that coconuts from high elevations yield almost no color compared with coconuts from coastals and low– lying areas. This new use for young coconut husks holds promise for additional income for farmers. Likewise, the new technique's requirement for compulsory chopping of husks before extraction facilitates rapid decomposition. • 34. Analysis Of The Poem ' Coca Cola And Coco Frio ' By Martin... Disappearing Culture Every single individual on this planet has their own distinctive identity and culture. Our culture helps us identify who we are and where we come from. In today's world, it appears that cultural diffusion has become a normal part of everyone's life as cultural trends, beliefs and customs spread quickly from one culture to another. In his poem, "Coca–Cola and Coco Frio," Martin Espada provides his readers with a great example of cultural diffusion that a boy encounters when he visits his native country, Puerto Rico. The "fat boy" mentioned in the poem is none other than Martin Espada himself (3). By sharing his childhood experience in Puerto Rico, Espada tries to prove that acceptance of other cultures can have a negative impact as people incline to neglect their own cultural values and begin to bear a resemblance to other countries. As a child, Espada travelled from Brooklyn, New York to his homeland, Puerto Rico to visit his family for the first time. During his visit, Espada fears that Puerto Rican culture is vanishing and threatened by American values imposed on them due to the presence of American corporate powers. It is known that Puerto Rican culture is a mix of many cultures and is strongly influenced by Taino Indians, America, Africa and Spain ("Culture and Traditions in Puerto Rico"). During the Spanish–American War, Puerto Rico became the territory of the United States when it was conquered on July 25, 1898 ("Puerto Rico: A U.S. Territory"). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She taught us to be non–conformist, to follow our talents and dreams, to "just give it a try." She taught us to play Scrabble to learn the importance of words, and to play cards to learn our numbers. Monopoly was for counting money as well as for basic economics: how much does this house cost? what's the rent? is it worth it? But each of her children took away much more than the basic life skills embodied by my favorite quote, "Never borrow money from a loan shark; look at Three–Fingered Dave." And what each of us took away is kaleidoscopic, the same basic picture, each viewed through our individual lenses, so that you'd never know we were talking about the same woman unless you looked much deeper. I don't know all of what my siblings saw, but I can tell you my vision. Make your world as big as possible. The hair bulb is a structure with actively growing cells which produce hair as we see it. The hair shaft is the part of a hair that we all see above your scalp is made of a protein named keratin, cemented and compacted together. Keratin is quite a tough protein and is resilient to wear and tear. The hair shaft also contains hydrogen bonds which give your hair its flexibility. The hair shaft is made up of three layers, the cortex, the medulla, and the cuticle. The cortex forms your hair's colour. It contains long keratin filaments held together by hydrogen bonds and disulphide and the health of the cortex depends of the cuticle protecting it. The medulla isn't always present but consists of a thin core of air spaces and transparent cells. The cuticle is a protective layer containing overlapping cells similar to fish scales. The outer cuticle holds your hair follicle similar to a Velcro–like bond. The Cay Conflicts In many great books the characters will face a conflict if not multiple conflicts that will test the characters behaviors and actions and throughout the book these conflicts can change how the character or characters act. The book The Cay by Theodore Taylor is no exception to this. In The Cay, Phillip's character reveals that because of many hardships he developed independence, bravery, and cleverness. Phillip demonstrated independence after experiencing the hardships of blindness as evidenced in the novel when he was able to survive on the cay after Timothy's death. At the beginning of the book after becoming blind Phillip acts almost completely helpless. In the passage it states, "In wild excitement, I stumbled up and fell overboard. I went ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the beginning of this book Phillip is scared and frightened by almost every sound or little thing he hears on the cay. As evidenced in the novel, "During those first few days on the island, the times I spent alone were terrible. It was of course not being able to see that made all the sounds so frightening."(Taylor 65). During the first few days on the island and after becoming blind almost every sound scares and be starts acting very paranoid. Then by around the middle of the story Phillip talks about how since being blind his hearing has gotten remarkably better and he can identify stuff better now just by the sound. Due to this he's become more brave and scared be less things, but he is still not completely brave alone on the island. This is supported in the story when it says, "I went up about ten feet and froze. I could not move up or down. My legs and arms were rigid. Timothy standing below to catch me if I fell, called up softly, Phill–eep, 'tis no shame to ease your own self downg to d'san."(Taylor 98). At this point he has become much more brave since they got to the island, but he still gets scared by a lot. This demonstrates that he was still too frightened to climb up the palm tree and get the coconuts. By the end of the story Phillip demonstrates being much more brave than when first arriving at the island. This demonstrated well by this evidence "This time, I dived in earnest. I went straight down, touched the bottom, and then took a few strokes toward the coral sides of the pool. Timothy had said that langosta were always at the bottom, usually over against the rocks and the coral. To my amazement, I touched one on the first sweep and drove the sharp stick into him, swimming quickly to the surface."(Taylor 122). So, by the end Phillip is way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Treatment Of Bibi Haldar By Jhumpa Lahiri This excerpt from "The Treatment of Bibi Haldar" by Jhumpa Lahiri has multiple themes, but one that really stands out above others is the effects of ignorance. One would disagree with my choice of theme, but one must not be so rash with their disagreement, first you must look at the writing techniques and the choice of words that Lahiri uses in the excerpt. The ignorance in which I talk about circulates around Bibi's family. If Lahiri describes her events in chronological order, which I believe she does, then we can see that in the first paragraph, the family first expresses their ignorance of this poor girl's illness when they contact priests, religion, etc. in order to heal their daughter instead of official medical specialists. In the following paragraph, the author informs us of the many 'specialists' in the medical field that the family had contacted in regards to Bibi's ailment. None of ...
