What kind of media institution might distribute your media product
and why?
Lions Gate Films is known for its distributing thriller films, including: “The
Descent”, “The Eye” and recently the popular Saw series. Lions Gate is the
most popular film and television distributor in North America, making it well
known by the citizens of the USA. By having Lions Gate Films distribute
‘Silenced’, it could well be a successful, profitable film.
Internet and printed articles such as magazines, newspapers, and posters
would be other popular forms of distribution for the main task. The internet
could also be a good tool as it has a wide range of users world wide and
would reach an audience of all ages, especially the teenagers as they are
more likely to search films and use networking sites more. Advertisements on
sites such as ‘Facebook’ and ‘Twitter’ would be best as they are used by the
targeted demographic more.
Newspapers, especially the free ones, as lots of people pick up these papers
on a daily basis it would reach a wide audience. Magazines such as ‘More’
and ‘Look’ would be popular choices as they are purchased by many young
females. To target the both genders Television advertisements would be
used. The trailer could be shown clearly demonstrating the thriller genre.
Posters on billboards, at bus stops and on public transport would also make
the film more popular as it is in the public eye more.
