What kind of media
institutions might distribute
   your media product and
                       why?

                   By Mumina Begum
The media is a big part of our everyday lives. The
Audience are often accustomed around watching
or listening to media products, for example
discussing what happened in last nights TV show.
This way the media can be said to be a part of
individuals’ social life and has become an
                     institution.
Media institutions such as cinemas would distribute our media product
as majority of the audience in most cinemas are people between the
ages of 15 – 25. Research has shown that between the specified age
people enjoy horror movies for a number of reasons, such as the
audience gain an adrenaline rush and self esteem boost knowing that
they are in a safe place. Even though people may scream throughout the
film, they still feel safe because they know that some people suffer more
than them even if those people were imaginary (the actors).
Furthermore, our media product is aimed at the
age group which helped us consider what the
audience would want. Throughout our film, we
used characters in which our audience can relate
as they are from the same age group.
Media institutions such as
cinemas can benefit from this as
horror movies are quite popular
nowadays and more of them are
being released every so often. This means that more
                                   people are going to
                                   be purchasing tickets,
                                   therefore more profits
                                   are going to be made
                                   by cinemas.
