2. With over two decades of service as a
public schools administrator, Cyndy Simms
currently holds the position of
Superintendent of Schools in the San
Mateo-Foster City School District. Cyndy
Simms is also a long-time member and
supporter of Rotary International. This year,
Rotary International made headlines by
investing two women with highly visible
leadership roles.
3. On July 1, 2013, Anne Matthews became the first
woman vice president of Rotary International. Just a
few days later, Nan McCreadie was inaugurated as
the first woman president of Rotary International in
Great Britain and Ireland. Both Matthews and
McCreadie are incredibly honored to fill their new
roles.
Additionally, while Matthews and McCreadie stress
that it is not important whether these roles are filled
by men or women, both women are delighted to be
part of the increasing diversity of Rotarian leadership.
4. Founded in 1905, Rotary International
has a global reputation for outstanding
volunteer service. The organization
currently boasts over 1.2 million members
in 34,000 clubs around the world.
