1. Classroom Teacher Comic Creations: Using Peer Support & Collaborative Groups to Intergrate Low To High Technology. 2
2. high light the text that they want read and the computer reads the text aloud to the student. I also saw how one could use an I-pad to help students that struggle through the writing process create stories, I saw phonics programs and a lot more that I could do to enhance student learning. While all this was very exciting to me I was also upset because I realized that the students in my school do not really have access to the necessary technology. Even though I am a general education teacher I do have and have had students that could benefit from some form of assisted technology. I realized that if I were not aware of a lot of the materials that could say help a struggling reader or writer ; that there are probably many other teachers who are not aware as well. In my very next Spotlight session I found out that I was responsible for creating some kind of group project with my students. I did not have any understanding as to what was expected or what kind of project I was to create. The project was initially supposed to be a collaboration between three schools, but the person in charge never came back to the trainings. Then it turned into a collaboration between myself a colleague from my school and one person from another school, but that also fell through. At this time in my school we began to study imaginary fiction, so I came up with the concept to develop comic books with my students. I have a low-tech classroom with the exception of the smart board. However I had never received training for it, therefore I use it to the best of my ability. In any case my vision was to create comic books with my students using both low and high technology. I realized that my students were at various levels in respect to their reading and writing abilities so in order to make this work I would have to use some peer supports and we would have to do some collaborative group work. Unfortunately I was not allowed to attend anymore Spotlight sessions after Feburary because my principal felt that I was needed in the school due to the upcoming state test. In any case what you will see is the development of some of my students comic creations using peer supports and collaborative groups to intergrate low to high technology.
