SHOOTING SCRIPT & LOCATION RECCE
TASK: Shooting Script & Location Recce
SOFTWARE: Digital Camera
DESCRIPTION: A Shooting Script is a plan of what you will shoot and how you will
shoot it. This requires; 1) Dates & times, 2) Separate locations, 3)
Visuals and descriptions of every single Shot (cut up the storyboard), 4)
Which cast & crew need to be present, 4) All equipment & props
required, 5) A call sheet for each location/shoot. Shooting scripts make
use of scene numbers, and follow a defined set of procedures specifying
how script revisions are implemented and circulated. Blockshootings
are also taken in to account (Films are not shot in narrative order), so
all same set scenes are all shot at the same time, irrelevant of when
they appear.
A Location Recce is a pre-filming visit to a location to work out its
suitability for shooting, including access to necessary facilities (plug
sockets, water mains etc.) and assessment of any potential lighting or
sound issues. Photos will be taken, including measurements of the area
for its suitability for shooting. Discuss why you chose these locations.
OBJECTIVE: To plan and prepare for a successful film shoot
