1. A VISIT TO OLD PEOPLE’S HOME
CONSTANTA
OUR FORM TEACHER, CRISTINA GILA, HAD
THE INITIATIVE TO ORGANIZE A VISIT TO
THE OLD PEOPLE’S HOME IN OUR CITY.
WE ARE 11TH GRADE STUDENTS AND WE
ARE GLAD TO SHARE OUR EXPERIENCE
WITH YOU.
IT WAS THE 8TH OF MARCH-MOTHER’S
DAY…
2. We are happy to hear that the
elders enjoy our visit very much
3. Giving the ladies symbolic gifts:
we, Romanians, have a spring custom of offering
ladies flowers and small trinkets (“martisoare”)
tied up with white and red strings, representing
purity and the coming back to life of
the natural world.
4. Impressions after the visit
Claudia: “I had the feeling I made their
day happier.”
Eugen: “I thought of my grandparents
when they greeted us with so much
warmth.”
Ana: “ I feel we should visit them more
often. They develop all sorts of activities
there and enjoy having guests, too.”
Georgiana:” I was impressed by the
strong bonds that seemed to have been
created between them. They look like a
big family, with us their nephews.”
5. From other people’s wisdom …
“When older and younger people work
together they complement each other.
Young people have physical strength and
older ones have experience which they can
share with the young,” said Mette
Frederiksen, and used the Danish
construction firm ‘Enemærke og Petersen’
as an example of someone who, according
to her:
“makes the most out of their employees of
all ages.”
