The United States Of America Essay
The United States of America is a very unique country for numerous reasons. One particularly good
reason is our great cultural diversity. Weaved deep into our history are the tales of people traveling
overseas to the New World looking for better lives. Of course, not all these tales have happy endings
(or happy beginnings, or any happiness anywhere in some cases), but regardless, learning about our
nation's migratory history is very important. Immigration is a very serious topic of discussion in
today's heated political climate; whatever your stance of the issue may be, it's handy to have some
knowledge of the subject, as it could affect your opinions on it in a substantial way. We should
discuss where and why immigrants came to our shores, how legislators have tried to stop them, and
what impact they've left on our country today. The history of immigration to the U.S. is quite vast.
Most of the early immigrants were from Europe, as they were the ones who colonized the New
World in the 1500s. It took 2–3 months to sail across the Atlantic, and many people died due to the
abhorrent conditions on the ships. Things got off to a troubling start, to say the least. Many settlers
clashed with the native people, and the former inadvertently brought with them new diseases such
as smallpox. Likewise, the slave trade existed as early as 1619, bringing over hundreds of African
people against their will ("Immigration Timeline"). Religious freedom, one of our founding
principles, also

Debate on Taxes Essay
Controversy will always follow humans where ever we go. Humans have argued over many issues
for centuries, often times with no conclusion or "correct" answer ever in sight. One common issue
that has been debated since the early 1900s is whether or not the more wealthy individuals in a
society should be taxed more heavily than their poorer counterparts. Many have argued over the pros
and cons of the taxation of richer people, but when one looks at it objectively, the pros far
outweigh the cons. Not only do the pros outweigh the cons, but a question one must ask oneself is
whether or not prosperous people really need that extra money? Richer people should be taxed
higher because it is better for the economy, social classes will...show more content...
The encouragement of economic disparity because of these tax cuts is bad for America. The US
should be aiming for more social and economic equality for everybody. Tax cuts can slow down
the economy by putting more money into the wealthy peoples' hands and giving less to the
people who need it. Another reason that the wealthy should pay more taxes is because they owe it
to society to do so. Every person wouldn't be where they are today without the people who helped
raise them and the society they were raised in. In "The Great Gatsby", Nick Carraway is disgusted
with Tom and Daisy, "Tom and Daisy
–they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back
into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let
other people clean up the mess they had made" (Fitzgerald 179). Nick is repelled by how Tom and
Daisy, with all of their money, would do nothing to help the society or other people. Successful
people are largely successful due to the society and conditions that they were raised in. Without the
better conditions that they were luckily born into, it is logical to question just how successful
someone in the top one or ten percent could have been. In a recent commencement speech last
summer at Princeton, author Michael Lewis stated "Recognize that if you have had success, you
also have had luck–and with luck comes obligation. You owe a debt, and not just to your Gods. You
owe a debt to the unlucky". In a

Essay On Current Events
When the majority of people think of summer they think of it as a easy–going time of year with
beautiful weather, but it is not all fun and sunshine for everyone around the world, or even in our
own country. Major events are happening all the time, whether they are broadcasted in the news
or not. In this paper I will be talking about a few events that happened over the summer, and how
they impacted the world. The first event occurred on August 17, 2017. According to New York
Times, and Telegraph Co. UK, what happened on this day is as an act of terrorism, a van violently
rammed through a crowd of nearly one hundred in Barcelona, Spain near Las Ramblas, a popular
tourist destination. This event killed at least 13 people, and...show more content...
I am thankful today that none of these people were seriously injured or ever missing, because I
know that is not the case for everyone. As goes for how it impacted the world, I think that it
shows us that accidents can happen at anytime to anyone, even to the most experienced of people.
The last event has been ongoing since mid March 2017, but on July 21, 2017 was named the
largest and worst Cholera outbreak. According to Aljazeera News, in the Asian country of
Yemen, over 360,000 cases have been suspected and over 2,000 people are dead because of it in
this war torn country. Cholera is a disease that is spread by contaminated food or water, and
causes pain in the abdomen and severe nausea and vomiting. Sadly, according to the World Food
Program, "Over 17 million Yemenis do not know where their next meal will come from." I
believe this impacted myself because it showed me to be grateful for my health, and the privilege
i have of getting vaccinated for serious diseases. I believe the world has been impacted because it
is the largest case ever and people are starting to take more action on the spreading and prevention of
diseases in all countries. Even though these events are not directly connected in anyway, a common
theme I found between all of them is that people in these situations keeping an attitude of hope.
These are clearly not ideal situations you want to find yourself in, but in any of these situations

What Is Religion? Essay
What is religion? Each person's definition of religion is different. Each person's faith is different.
This is a question that has been asked for centuries, and regardless of the answer given there is no
right or wrong answer. Religion can be defined as a group of people who have shared beliefs who
feel their life has purpose or meaning. This feeling or belief that their life has meaning can come
from outside of themselves, as well as within. Taking this one step further, these shared beliefs put
into action in the form of worship, can be easily identified because they happen regularly. It can be
said the Primal religions were in fact not religions. Some may argue Confucianism is not a religion.
Others may say Taoism is not a...show more content...
They are teachings learned by previous generations then passed down, they are not always
actions. The fifth feature of religion is grace. Grace is defined by Smith as "the belief and
assurance that reality is on our side and can be counted on." Lastly there is mystery. For this there
is no exact definition, but it is all of what a religion cannot explain, it is all that the human mind
cannot grasp, it is the certain "higher power" that religion offers. Of these six features, there are
three that are present in most all religions, they are: authority, tradition, and mystery. Authority,
tradition, and mystery further explore and define religion when looking specifically at Primal
Religions, Confucianism, and Taoism. Primal Religions are often mistaken to be the religion of the
primitive man, often thought to be unintelligent. There is a definition of "primal" that is better
suited than unintelligent or primitive. Primal in terms of religion, refers to the lack of exposure to
technology, it is not "knowing" the state of consciousness given to many by the technological
environment. Primal religions preceded organized religion as we know it today by thousands of
years, in some cases millions, but are still present in the world today; we now call them tribal
religions. Within primal religions there are people who are knowledgeable about life, who are

Argumentative Essay On Lgbtq
Generally when people think about marriage they think about a man and a woman. In society today,
the expansion of gay marriages has increased significantly but quite a few people do not agree with
this community. Many think that the LGBTQ+ community is not morally correct and LGBTQ is
extremely frowned upon in religions. There has been multiple news articles about the LGBTQ being
threatened or getting discriminated upon. Luckily there are an abounding number of charities and
organizations to help with this discrimination on the community. Since the LGBTQ is a
controversial idea in the United States. Honeymaid, Nordstrom, and Campbells are working to fight
the freedom for the LGBTQ+ community by creating commercials and advertising how to be
themselves.
Honey Maid is one of the many brands that shows support towards the LGBTQ community. Honey
Maid's commercial shows the relationship and happiness the gay community has when it comes to
people accepting who they are on the inside. The video presents a gay couple starting a family
and living life like any other person would. As a response to the video, a reporter said "I think any
child would be lucky to have two dads like you" (Wong). Honey maid has made it clear to the world
that they support the LGBTQ+ community. With more expanding companies creating commercials
like Honey Maid, this organization is hoping to expand the topic and make the nation be accepting
of everyone regardless of sexuality preferences. This...show more content...

The Issues Of Technology And Technology
Introduction
Within this essay the issues to be discussed are problems about technology. Information technology
is very important in today's world and is used daily by many people all across the continents.
Information technology has its pros and cons like other technology does, but one of the major
problems are security and privacy. The main issue of this topic would be cyber threats to computer
networks. Examples are threats involving denial–of–service attacks, malicious software, sniffers and
more.
About Technology
Technology is a very important aspect in life that is used on a daily basis. Technology is the
application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes. There are many different types of
technology used throughout the world today. Some are assistive technology used by individuals
with disabilities, medical technology that refers to the diagnostic or therapeutic application of
science and technology to improve management of health conditions, Communication technology,
Information technology, transport technology and defense technology. Information technology is a

The Problems that Our World Faces Today Essay
The Problems that Our World Faces Today
The earth is considered as one of the most beautiful planets in the universe. It is the only planet in
our galaxy that has enough water to support life. Unfortunately our planet is suffering due to many
problems which should be solved before it is too late. The major problems that are facing our world
today are population, pollution and animal extinction. One of the problems facing our world is
population. It began about ten thousand years ago when the humans settled and began farming.
The farming provides more food for the people thus making the population grow. Now we are about
6 billion in population and in a few years we will be around 10 to 11 billion. Therefore, our
population will...show more content...
Pollution is another major factor that is threatening our world today. One example of pollution is
nitrogen. Humans are adding about 130 to 150 million tons over the 90 to 150 tons that are
produced by the nitrogen cycle. This excess in nitrogen causes coastal waters and estuaries to
grow toxic algae, killing the fish and trapping the solar heat in the air. Another example of
pollution is methane. Methane is produced by gases released by cows, termite mounds or by the
bottom of rice paddy. If found in the air methane is very poisonous. By raising more cattle, cutting
more tropical forests, thus increasing the amount of termites, and by growing more rice, the
methane concentration in the air is almost twice as higher as it was 160,000 years ago. Smoke is
another pollution factor. Smoke that is produced by cars contains carbon dioxide (CO2). This
carbon dioxide in the air causes global warming, which results in the green house effect and climate
changes. Satellite studies show that perhaps we will increase the temperature by 3.6 degrees by the
year 2001. The warmer the weather the more water it can hold, the higher the precipitation will be.
The higher the precipitation the more clouds, the more rain, and the more snow there will be. This
will result in more storms and floods. Studies by Thomas Karl of the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration showed that the total winter precipitation in the US has increased to
about 10% since

An Essay On Concussions In Sports
Concussions, which can be also known as a minor head trauma or mild traumatic brain injury.
They are defined as a head injury because of temporary loss in brain functions which can be
shown by a variety of signs. These include headaches, feeling in a fog, and emotional changeability.
Common causes for these types of injuries are sports injuries, bicycle accidents, car wrecks, and
falls. With the latter of the two of them all being the more frequent causes of brain injury. It has
never been clear exactly on how much damage is done and how the symptoms are caused when the
injury happens. There has been reported that there is cellular damage that happens in the concussed
brain. Currently it is thought that structural and neuropsychiatric factors may be responsible for
these effects. "For example, collision sports such as football and ice hockey characteristically have
more acute traumatic injuries than sports such as swimming and track. Boxing has more
head–related trauma because of the focus of the sport. Within each sport, a general injury pattern
and specific types of injury are unique to the sport. One type of injury that can occur in any sport or
physical activity is concussion". (Cerebral Concussion: Causes, Effects, and Risks in Sports)....show

writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about
and the style in which I need to write it in. There are nine essay writing methods which I learned
while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal,
narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I
encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was
finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything
else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and
myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most
of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was
understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them.
For my exemplification essay I chose to write about the reasons why condoms

Life's Problems Essay
Life's Problems Life is full of problems, but how we approach those problems often determines
whether we're happy or miserable. Bob Maynard says, "Problems are opportunities in disguise." If
we approach problems with Maynard's attitude, we see that problems are really opportunities to
learn about others and ourselves. They enable us to live happier and more fulfilling lives. Maynard's
quote applies to all kinds of problems. I faced a problem just last week when our family's kitchen
sink developed a serious leak. There was water all over our kitchen floor and piles of dishes to be
washed. But our landlord was out of town for the week. I come from a big family–I have six
brothers and sisters–so we couldn't afford to wait until...show more content...
Whatever kind of situation we face, problems give us the chance to learn and grow, both physically
and mentally. For example, when I had a problem with my car and couldn't the repairs right away,
my problem become an opportunity to get some exercise–something I'd been waiting to do anyway. I
had to walk a mile each day to get to the bus stop and back. But in the meantime, I got the chance
to start getting back in shape, and I saved a lot on gas. I've come to realize that problems are
really part of what makes life worth living. Problems challenge us and give us the opportunity to
do things we've never done before, to learn things we never knew before. They give us the chance
to surprise ourselves. Just the word "problem" can send some of us into a panic. But problems
can be good things, too. Problems are situations that make us think and force us to be creative and
resourceful. They can also teach us things we didn't know before. For example, I had a problem in
school a few years ago when I couldn't understand my math class. I started failing my quizzes and
homework assignments. I wasn't sure what to so, so finally I went to the teacher and asked for help.
She said she would arrange for me to be tutored by another student who was her best student. In
return, though, I'd have to help that student around school. I wasn't sure what she

My Current Event Analysis Paper Essay
Race and gender have been a very recurrent topic of discussion in the news nowadays. I have chosen
a very recent news event for my current event analysis paper. The Event that I have chosen is
centered around gender and racial discrimination. This incident happened recently when a Black
doctor – Dr. Tamica Cross faced discrimination due to her gender andrace on Delta airlines flight in
mid–air . The Reading that I have used to connect to the news event are – "10 Ways racism killed
Michael Brown and Eric Garner"by Chauncey Devega, Chapel hill shooting and western media
bigotry, "More Black Men are in prison today than Enslaved in 1850"by Dick Price, "Mapping the
Margins: Intersectionality, Identity Politics, and Violence against Women of Color"by Kimberle
Crenshaw, "The Social Construction of Race''by Ian F. Haney Lopez.
 I chose this news event
because I was shocked seeing the discrimination faced by someone of a very high reputed
profession because of the color of their skin and the gender. The main idea behind my current
event analysis paper is that how gender and race discrimination overpowers and discriminates
anybody regardless of the profession. The discrimination due to Race and gender should be taken
more seriously and their should be qual respect for every Race, Gender as this is the basic to
mankind. This paper heads that event that make us realize how gender and race plays an important
role in our lives and it goes with us everywhere we go and when it is

Speech on Environmental Issues Today Essay
Our Environment – how can you and I help save it?
Albert Einstein said "Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better." Our
planet is in trouble! Pretty much everywhere you look today you will hear or see something
reminding you that our planet's health is failing. If our planet where a person it would be about time
to buy the burial plot and write out the last will and testament. Just a brief list of the things that is

Much of our waste is made up of glass, metal, plastic and paper. Our natural resources such as trees,
oil, coal and aluminum are used up in enormous amounts to make these products and the resources
will one day be completely used up. So in order to cut down on the energy used lets reuse.
What can you do?
* Sort out your trash. Organic matter (e.g. potato peelings, left over food, tea leaves etc.) can be put
in to a compost heap in the garden and used as a good, natural fertilizer for the plants.
*Aluminum cans, glass bottles and newspapers are often collected from our doorsteps, but other
items such as plastic bottles, juice cartons and cardboard may not be, in which case they can be
taken to nearby recycling banks. You can find out where they are by just searching on line. * Use
recycled paper to help save trees. Chlorine bleach is usually used to make newspapers and this
pollutes rivers. It's better to use unbleached, recycled paper whenever you can. * Take your old
clothes to charity shops. Some are sold, others are returned to textile mills for recycling. * Try to
avoid buying plastic. It's hard to recycle. One way to cut down on plastic is to refuse to use plastic
bags offered by supermarkets and use cloth re–useable shopping bags instead, or re–use plastic bags
over and over again, until they wear out and then recycle them.

Crime
In general the definition of a crime is an act punishable by law, usually considered an evil act.
Crime refers to many types of misconduct forbidden by law. Crimes include such things as murder,
stealing a car, resisting arrest, possession or dealing of illegal drugs, being nude in public , drunk
driving, and bank robbery. Crime is an act that has been timeless and has been committed practically
since the start of time. For example, ever since Cain killed his brother Abel (B.C.), people being
charged with witchcraft in the 1600's, prostitution, to the current crimes of modern day(A.D.). Even

Crimes are frequently classified according to their seriousness as felonies or misdemeanors.
Generally, felonies are more serious than misdemeanors. Under the federal criminal law system,
felonies are crimes for which the punishment is death or imprisonment for more than a year. A
misdemeanor is punishable by a fine or by imprisonment for less than a year. In most states persons
convicted of felonies are sent to state prisons, while those guilty of misdemeanors serve their
sentence in city, or county jails, or correction houses.
Crimes against people include assault, kidnapping, murder, and sexual attacks. Such crimes usually
bring severe punishments. Crimes against property include arson, automobile theft, burglary,
embezzlement, forgery, fraud, larceny, and vandalism. In most cases, these crimes carry lighter
penalties than the crimes set against the person. Robbery is the crime most difficult to classify. The
law considers robbery a crime against the person or against the property, according to the case.
Robbery may involve simply stealing property from another person, but when a personal encounter
occurs between the robber and his victim, it may include violence and bodily harm. This usually
occurs during muggings or other strong–arm robberies.

There are many factors involved in the conflict. The conflict that is rising between Ukraine and
Russia is due to the rejection of the single economic deal with the European Union regarding an

acceptable for the people and their country so people start to protest against their President. The
economic factor is one of the reasons for the conflict. Crimea is very popular in its moderate

In Crimea, chemical plants and iron ore is mined. According to UKr Ago Consult, 1.6 million tons

Essay about The Education System
The education system has been a controversial issue among educators. Requirements of school do
not let student choose what they want to study for their future. It's a big issue to force student study
specific curriculums, which don't help them improve, and what they like to create something.
Educators choose a general system for education to all students which based on general knowledge.
Intelligent or genius students have to be in that system of education, which doesn't let them improve
their creativity. Educators attempt to change that system to make it better, but their changing was
not that great to be an example for the world. Also, did that change qualify education system to

Gatto is concern to society that the contemporary schooling system is trying to get rid of students'
personality by turning them into obedient students that are easy to have power over (control).
Therefore, the system will produce uneducated voters that are easy to be misled by higher powers. In
addition, students are not given the freedom of choosing what they want. He is saying that public
schools are not the only way to success; also, unschooled people don't mean that they are uneducated.
Moreover, Gatto encourages home–school system than public school as option because home–school
system has more independence but it's not a solution for the US. I disagree to his solution because
he is supporting examples from old generation such as Edison and Ben Franklin; however, our
generation is different than before. It needs school environment like sharing our ideas in class and
helping each other to solve problems. Therefore, homeschool is not the solution to success. It is a
combination of the students' skills, intelligence, and effort that makes up their success.
Graff says that putting students in classes in the contemporary system is wasting and limiting
students' potential and creativity (198). Complaining that intellects do not meet the success standard
set by schools, Graff proves that schools limit the intellect students can achieve in their academic
career (198–199).

My Current State Of Mind
At twenty years old I see my life to be in a very rough patch. I find myself too busy for my own
good, filled with stress and anxiety provoking situations. I consider my current state of mind
"numb". I am filled with depression and internal battles I know I can 't fight alone yet choose not

participate in church events, but that's because my local church relies on me to do their

church, but I don't. Growing up I attended church consistently with my mother and brother. Every
Sunday we would go to Sunday school for an hour then sit in service for another hour and a half.
This is what I did until my junior year in high school when my Sunday school class dissolved
from lack of attendees and I chose to only attend services sporadically. At that point I thought the
church had nothing for me, no benefit. All my friends and peers whom I had grown up with left or
stopped attending and I lost the social aspect I craved every Sunday. Church shouldn't be about
seeing friends and playing football on the church lawn, but it is a part of the church many people
enjoy the most. The sense of community and family is what brings and keeps people together. Being
the only one around my age sitting in a pew listening on Sunday made me feel isolated and I was
unhappy with that situation. I had opportunities to

blogs, online journaling, emailing, instant messaging, and micro–blogging. People use these
applications to track their lives, inform others what they have been doing, make recommendations,
rant about an interest, and a variety of other reasons. There is some sort of social communication
about virtually every topic under the sun. Blogs, which is short for web–blogs, are essentially a
place online where people go to write about their thoughts, ideas, feelings, etc. in their own voice in
order to share it with the masses ("Exploring web 2.0 and libraries," 2006). In a blog, someone can
respond to the writer with a comment, and then the blogger can post the comment for others to
view, or they can delete it. In education or in a library, a blog could be used to share ideas about a
topic, recommend books, share thoughts on a book, share news about upcoming events, share
information about a past event, etc. (Naslund & Guistini, 2008). Blogs are very applicable to the
library setting. It is a place to have conversations about anything. It could become a sort of on–line
book club. The blog should invite participation. The more engaged students are, the more likely
they are to care about the library ("Technology trends for a 2.0 world," 2007). Some of the more
popular blog sites are blogger.com, edublogger.com, and blogsopt.com (Naslund & Guistini, 2008).

Argumentative Essay On Climate Change
Climate change can be traced down to since the mid–1800s, when the industrial revolution first
started taking place all around the world. Lives of human and animal species have been negatively
affected since then, with events such as natural disasters, the melting of ice in polar regions, and
change in weather and living conditions. Climate change in polar regions, in particular, has faced
the most damage compared to any other region because of its location in regard to the sun. Climate
change holds many different views and opinions about the effects, and even the existence itself, but
evidence is clear and unmistakable in global ramifications and local impact in polar regions.
"...Climate change [is] the 'greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people'", skeptics like
Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma like to say. Climate change is change in climate patterns due to an
increase in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases produced by certain human activity.
According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, data taken by satellite has shown that the
Arctic cover has decreased by 30% over the past 30 years, and this change, which also include
change in sea ice and permafrost, in artic weather and climate is caused by humans. Although
numerous scientists have confirmed the legitimacy of climate change, there are different views on
whether climate change is real or not. Government officials like Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma or
Senator Marco Rubio of Florida have explicitly stated that they do not believe climate change is
neither real, nor caused by humans (Tom McCarthy, 2014). On the other hand, mainstream media
and other media outlets, such as The Independent and The Economist, have reported their findings
of climate change and its legitimacy. The Independent (Conner, S. 2011) reported that records of
these changes were taken by military submarines, land measurements, and satellite data to prove ice
in polar regions are melting faster and faster. Satellites have tracked sea ice since the 1970s and by
nuclear submarines since the Cold War,
according to Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University and it was predicted that by September
2015, there would be no more sea ice. (Conner, S. 2011). Luckily, sea ice has not

Current Topic For Essay

  • 1. The United States Of America Essay The United States of America is a very unique country for numerous reasons. One particularly good reason is our great cultural diversity. Weaved deep into our history are the tales of people traveling overseas to the New World looking for better lives. Of course, not all these tales have happy endings (or happy beginnings, or any happiness anywhere in some cases), but regardless, learning about our nation's migratory history is very important. Immigration is a very serious topic of discussion in today's heated political climate; whatever your stance of the issue may be, it's handy to have some knowledge of the subject, as it could affect your opinions on it in a substantial way. We should discuss where and why immigrants came to our shores, how legislators have tried to stop them, and what impact they've left on our country today. The history of immigration to the U.S. is quite vast. Most of the early immigrants were from Europe, as they were the ones who colonized the New World in the 1500s. It took 2–3 months to sail across the Atlantic, and many people died due to the abhorrent conditions on the ships. Things got off to a troubling start, to say the least. Many settlers clashed with the native people, and the former inadvertently brought with them new diseases such as smallpox. Likewise, the slave trade existed as early as 1619, bringing over hundreds of African people against their will ("Immigration Timeline"). Religious freedom, one of our founding principles, also Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Debate on Taxes Essay Controversy will always follow humans where ever we go. Humans have argued over many issues for centuries, often times with no conclusion or "correct" answer ever in sight. One common issue that has been debated since the early 1900s is whether or not the more wealthy individuals in a society should be taxed more heavily than their poorer counterparts. Many have argued over the pros and cons of the taxation of richer people, but when one looks at it objectively, the pros far outweigh the cons. Not only do the pros outweigh the cons, but a question one must ask oneself is whether or not prosperous people really need that extra money? Richer people should be taxed higher because it is better for the economy, social classes will...show more content... The encouragement of economic disparity because of these tax cuts is bad for America. The US should be aiming for more social and economic equality for everybody. Tax cuts can slow down the economy by putting more money into the wealthy peoples' hands and giving less to the people who need it. Another reason that the wealthy should pay more taxes is because they owe it to society to do so. Every person wouldn't be where they are today without the people who helped raise them and the society they were raised in. In "The Great Gatsby", Nick Carraway is disgusted with Tom and Daisy, "Tom and Daisy –they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made" (Fitzgerald 179). Nick is repelled by how Tom and Daisy, with all of their money, would do nothing to help the society or other people. Successful people are largely successful due to the society and conditions that they were raised in. Without the better conditions that they were luckily born into, it is logical to question just how successful someone in the top one or ten percent could have been. In a recent commencement speech last summer at Princeton, author Michael Lewis stated "Recognize that if you have had success, you also have had luck–and with luck comes obligation. You owe a debt, and not just to your Gods. You owe a debt to the unlucky". In a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay On Current Events When the majority of people think of summer they think of it as a easy–going time of year with beautiful weather, but it is not all fun and sunshine for everyone around the world, or even in our own country. Major events are happening all the time, whether they are broadcasted in the news or not. In this paper I will be talking about a few events that happened over the summer, and how they impacted the world. The first event occurred on August 17, 2017. According to New York Times, and Telegraph Co. UK, what happened on this day is as an act of terrorism, a van violently rammed through a crowd of nearly one hundred in Barcelona, Spain near Las Ramblas, a popular tourist destination. This event killed at least 13 people, and...show more content... I am thankful today that none of these people were seriously injured or ever missing, because I know that is not the case for everyone. As goes for how it impacted the world, I think that it shows us that accidents can happen at anytime to anyone, even to the most experienced of people. The last event has been ongoing since mid March 2017, but on July 21, 2017 was named the largest and worst Cholera outbreak. According to Aljazeera News, in the Asian country of Yemen, over 360,000 cases have been suspected and over 2,000 people are dead because of it in this war torn country. Cholera is a disease that is spread by contaminated food or water, and causes pain in the abdomen and severe nausea and vomiting. Sadly, according to the World Food Program, "Over 17 million Yemenis do not know where their next meal will come from." I believe this impacted myself because it showed me to be grateful for my health, and the privilege i have of getting vaccinated for serious diseases. I believe the world has been impacted because it is the largest case ever and people are starting to take more action on the spreading and prevention of diseases in all countries. Even though these events are not directly connected in anyway, a common theme I found between all of them is that people in these situations keeping an attitude of hope. These are clearly not ideal situations you want to find yourself in, but in any of these situations Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. What Is Religion? Essay What is religion? Each person's definition of religion is different. Each person's faith is different. This is a question that has been asked for centuries, and regardless of the answer given there is no right or wrong answer. Religion can be defined as a group of people who have shared beliefs who feel their life has purpose or meaning. This feeling or belief that their life has meaning can come from outside of themselves, as well as within. Taking this one step further, these shared beliefs put into action in the form of worship, can be easily identified because they happen regularly. It can be said the Primal religions were in fact not religions. Some may argue Confucianism is not a religion. Others may say Taoism is not a...show more content... They are teachings learned by previous generations then passed down, they are not always actions. The fifth feature of religion is grace. Grace is defined by Smith as "the belief and assurance that reality is on our side and can be counted on." Lastly there is mystery. For this there is no exact definition, but it is all of what a religion cannot explain, it is all that the human mind cannot grasp, it is the certain "higher power" that religion offers. Of these six features, there are three that are present in most all religions, they are: authority, tradition, and mystery. Authority, tradition, and mystery further explore and define religion when looking specifically at Primal Religions, Confucianism, and Taoism. Primal Religions are often mistaken to be the religion of the primitive man, often thought to be unintelligent. There is a definition of "primal" that is better suited than unintelligent or primitive. Primal in terms of religion, refers to the lack of exposure to technology, it is not "knowing" the state of consciousness given to many by the technological environment. Primal religions preceded organized religion as we know it today by thousands of years, in some cases millions, but are still present in the world today; we now call them tribal religions. Within primal religions there are people who are knowledgeable about life, who are knowledgeable about Defining Religion–4 traditions, and who are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Argumentative Essay On Lgbtq Generally when people think about marriage they think about a man and a woman. In society today, the expansion of gay marriages has increased significantly but quite a few people do not agree with this community. Many think that the LGBTQ+ community is not morally correct and LGBTQ is extremely frowned upon in religions. There has been multiple news articles about the LGBTQ being threatened or getting discriminated upon. Luckily there are an abounding number of charities and organizations to help with this discrimination on the community. Since the LGBTQ is a controversial idea in the United States. Honeymaid, Nordstrom, and Campbells are working to fight the freedom for the LGBTQ+ community by creating commercials and advertising how to be themselves. Honey Maid is one of the many brands that shows support towards the LGBTQ community. Honey Maid's commercial shows the relationship and happiness the gay community has when it comes to people accepting who they are on the inside. The video presents a gay couple starting a family and living life like any other person would. As a response to the video, a reporter said "I think any child would be lucky to have two dads like you" (Wong). Honey maid has made it clear to the world that they support the LGBTQ+ community. With more expanding companies creating commercials like Honey Maid, this organization is hoping to expand the topic and make the nation be accepting of everyone regardless of sexuality preferences. • 7. The Problems that Our World Faces Today Essay The Problems that Our World Faces Today The earth is considered as one of the most beautiful planets in the universe. It is the only planet in our galaxy that has enough water to support life. Unfortunately our planet is suffering due to many problems which should be solved before it is too late. The major problems that are facing our world today are population, pollution and animal extinction. One of the problems facing our world is population. It began about ten thousand years ago when the humans settled and began farming. The farming provides more food for the people thus making the population grow. Now we are about 6 billion in population and in a few years we will be around 10 to 11 billion. Therefore, our population will...show more content... Pollution is another major factor that is threatening our world today. One example of pollution is nitrogen. Humans are adding about 130 to 150 million tons over the 90 to 150 tons that are produced by the nitrogen cycle. This excess in nitrogen causes coastal waters and estuaries to grow toxic algae, killing the fish and trapping the solar heat in the air. Another example of pollution is methane. Methane is produced by gases released by cows, termite mounds or by the bottom of rice paddy. If found in the air methane is very poisonous. By raising more cattle, cutting more tropical forests, thus increasing the amount of termites, and by growing more rice, the methane concentration in the air is almost twice as higher as it was 160,000 years ago. Smoke is another pollution factor. Smoke that is produced by cars contains carbon dioxide (CO2). This carbon dioxide in the air causes global warming, which results in the green house effect and climate changes. Satellite studies show that perhaps we will increase the temperature by 3.6 degrees by the year 2001. The warmer the weather the more water it can hold, the higher the precipitation will be. The higher the precipitation the more clouds, the more rain, and the more snow there will be. This will result in more storms and floods. Studies by Thomas Karl of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration showed that the total winter precipitation in the US has increased to about 10% since Get more content on HelpWriting.net

They are defined as a head injury because of temporary loss in brain functions which can be shown by a variety of signs. These include headaches, feeling in a fog, and emotional changeability. Common causes for these types of injuries are sports injuries, bicycle accidents, car wrecks, and falls. With the latter of the two of them all being the more frequent causes of brain injury. It has never been clear exactly on how much damage is done and how the symptoms are caused when the injury happens. There has been reported that there is cellular damage that happens in the concussed brain. Currently it is thought that structural and neuropsychiatric factors may be responsible for these effects. "For example, collision sports such as football and ice hockey characteristically have more acute traumatic injuries than sports such as swimming and track. Boxing has more head–related trauma because of the focus of the sport. Within each sport, a general injury pattern and specific types of injury are unique to the sport. One type of injury that can occur in any sport or physical activity is concussion". (Cerebral Concussion: Causes, Effects, and Risks in Sports)....show more content... Additionally, postconcussion syndrome was identified in players who retired for other reasons in the months and years after their injuries. There are nine essay writing methods which I learned while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal, narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them. Bob Maynard says, "Problems are opportunities in disguise." If we approach problems with Maynard's attitude, we see that problems are really opportunities to learn about others and ourselves. They enable us to live happier and more fulfilling lives. Maynard's quote applies to all kinds of problems. I faced a problem just last week when our family's kitchen sink developed a serious leak. There was water all over our kitchen floor and piles of dishes to be washed. But our landlord was out of town for the week. I had to walk a mile each day to get to the bus stop and back. But in the meantime, I got the chance to start getting back in shape, and I saved a lot on gas. I've come to realize that problems are really part of what makes life worth living. Problems challenge us and give us the opportunity to do things we've never done before, to learn things we never knew before. They give us the chance to surprise ourselves. Just the word "problem" can send some of us into a panic. But problems can be good things, too. Problems are situations that make us think and force us to be creative and resourceful. They can also teach us things we didn't know before. For example, I had a problem in school a few years ago when I couldn't understand my math class. I started failing my quizzes and homework assignments. I wasn't sure what to so, so finally I went to the teacher and asked for help. She said she would arrange for me to be tutored by another student who was her best student. In return, though, I'd have to help that student around school. I wasn't sure what she Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My Current Event Analysis Paper Essay Race and gender have been a very recurrent topic of discussion in the news nowadays. I have chosen a very recent news event for my current event analysis paper. The Event that I have chosen is centered around gender and racial discrimination. This incident happened recently when a Black doctor – Dr. Tamica Cross faced discrimination due to her gender andrace on Delta airlines flight in mid–air . The Reading that I have used to connect to the news event are – "10 Ways racism killed Michael Brown and Eric Garner"by Chauncey Devega, Chapel hill shooting and western media bigotry, "More Black Men are in prison today than Enslaved in 1850"by Dick Price, "Mapping the Margins: Intersectionality, Identity Politics, and Violence against Women of Color"by Kimberle Crenshaw, "The Social Construction of Race''by Ian F. Haney Lopez.
I chose this news event because I was shocked seeing the discrimination faced by someone of a very high reputed profession because of the color of their skin and the gender. The main idea behind my current event analysis paper is that how gender and race discrimination overpowers and discriminates anybody regardless of the profession. The discrimination due to Race and gender should be taken more seriously and their should be qual respect for every Race, Gender as this is the basic to mankind. This paper heads that event that make us realize how gender and race plays an important role in our lives and it goes with us everywhere we go and when it is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Speech on Environmental Issues Today Essay Our Environment – how can you and I help save it? Albert Einstein said "Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better." Our planet is in trouble! Pretty much everywhere you look today you will hear or see something reminding you that our planet's health is failing. If our planet where a person it would be about time to buy the burial plot and write out the last will and testament. Just a brief list of the things that is ailing her is – pollution, acid rain, climate change, the destruction of rainforests and other wild habitats, the decline and extinction of thousands of species of animals and plants....and so on. Our natural resources such as trees, oil, coal and aluminum are used up in enormous amounts to make these products and the resources will one day be completely used up. So in order to cut down on the energy used lets reuse. What can you do? * Sort out your trash. Organic matter (e.g. potato peelings, left over food, tea leaves etc.) can be put in to a compost heap in the garden and used as a good, natural fertilizer for the plants. *Aluminum cans, glass bottles and newspapers are often collected from our doorsteps, but other items such as plastic bottles, juice cartons and cardboard may not be, in which case they can be taken to nearby recycling banks. You can find out where they are by just searching on line. * Use recycled paper to help save trees. Chlorine bleach is usually used to make newspapers and this pollutes rivers. It's better to use unbleached, recycled paper whenever you can. * Take your old clothes to charity shops. Some are sold, others are returned to textile mills for recycling. * Try to avoid buying plastic. It's hard to recycle. One way to cut down on plastic is to refuse to use plastic bags offered by supermarkets and use cloth re–useable shopping bags instead, or re–use plastic bags over and over again, until they wear out and then recycle them. • 14. Essay about Crime Crime In general the definition of a crime is an act punishable by law, usually considered an evil act. Crime refers to many types of misconduct forbidden by law. Crimes include such things as murder, stealing a car, resisting arrest, possession or dealing of illegal drugs, being nude in public , drunk driving, and bank robbery. Crime is an act that has been timeless and has been committed practically since the start of time. For example, ever since Cain killed his brother Abel (B.C.), people being charged with witchcraft in the 1600's, prostitution, to the current crimes of modern day(A.D.). Even though crime has existed throughout time it has progressed and branched out taking many types forms....show more content... Crimes are frequently classified according to their seriousness as felonies or misdemeanors. Generally, felonies are more serious than misdemeanors. Under the federal criminal law system, felonies are crimes for which the punishment is death or imprisonment for more than a year. A misdemeanor is punishable by a fine or by imprisonment for less than a year. In most states persons convicted of felonies are sent to state prisons, while those guilty of misdemeanors serve their sentence in city, or county jails, or correction houses. Crimes against people include assault, kidnapping, murder, and sexual attacks. Such crimes usually bring severe punishments. Crimes against property include arson, automobile theft, burglary, embezzlement, forgery, fraud, larceny, and vandalism. In most cases, these crimes carry lighter penalties than the crimes set against the person. Robbery is the crime most difficult to classify. The law considers robbery a crime against the person or against the property, according to the case. Robbery may involve simply stealing property from another person, but when a personal encounter occurs between the robber and his victim, it may include violence and bodily harm. This usually occurs during muggings or other strong–arm robberies. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The conflict that is rising between Ukraine and Russia is due to the rejection of the single economic deal with the European Union regarding an association agreement by Ukrainians President. The decision made by president was not acceptable for the people and their country so people start to protest against their President. The economic factor is one of the reasons for the conflict. Crimea is very popular in its moderate climate. This helps to attract the tourist and Ukrainians can easily make their good economic condition. Similarly, it is easy to cultivate wheat, corn, and sunflowers. There is no crisis of water. In Crimea, chemical plants and iron ore is mined. According to UKr Ago Consult, 1.6 million tons of grain has been exported which is 6.6 percent of Ukraine's exports. Russia had fears if Ukraine signed an association agreement with the European Union that result low–priced European products into Ukraine. • 16. Essay about The Education System The education system has been a controversial issue among educators. Requirements of school do not let student choose what they want to study for their future. It's a big issue to force student study specific curriculums, which don't help them improve, and what they like to create something. Educators choose a general system for education to all students which based on general knowledge. Intelligent or genius students have to be in that system of education, which doesn't let them improve their creativity. Educators attempt to change that system to make it better, but their changing was not that great to be an example for the world. Also, did that change qualify education system to compete other systems or not? In some examples and...show more content... Gatto is concern to society that the contemporary schooling system is trying to get rid of students' personality by turning them into obedient students that are easy to have power over (control). Therefore, the system will produce uneducated voters that are easy to be misled by higher powers. In addition, students are not given the freedom of choosing what they want. He is saying that public schools are not the only way to success; also, unschooled people don't mean that they are uneducated. Moreover, Gatto encourages home–school system than public school as option because home–school system has more independence but it's not a solution for the US. I disagree to his solution because he is supporting examples from old generation such as Edison and Ben Franklin; however, our generation is different than before. It needs school environment like sharing our ideas in class and helping each other to solve problems. Therefore, homeschool is not the solution to success. It is a combination of the students' skills, intelligence, and effort that makes up their success. Graff says that putting students in classes in the contemporary system is wasting and limiting students' potential and creativity (198). Complaining that intellects do not meet the success standard set by schools, Graff proves that schools limit the intellect students can achieve in their academic career (198–199). • 17. My Current State Of Mind At twenty years old I see my life to be in a very rough patch. I find myself too busy for my own good, filled with stress and anxiety provoking situations. I consider my current state of mind "numb". I am filled with depression and internal battles I know I can 't fight alone yet choose not to seek help from a higher being. In my life right now I do not belong to a church. I may still participate in church events, but that's because my local church relies on me to do their marketing, advertising, and event planning. The congregation may still consider me part of the church, but I don't. Growing up I attended church consistently with my mother and brother. Every Sunday we would go to Sunday school for an hour then sit in service for another hour and a half. This is what I did until my junior year in high school when my Sunday school class dissolved from lack of attendees and I chose to only attend services sporadically. At that point I thought the church had nothing for me, no benefit. All my friends and peers whom I had grown up with left or stopped attending and I lost the social aspect I craved every Sunday. Church shouldn't be about seeing friends and playing football on the church lawn, but it is a part of the church many people enjoy the most. The sense of community and family is what brings and keeps people together. Being the only one around my age sitting in a pew listening on Sunday made me feel isolated and I was unhappy with that situation. I had opportunities to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Technology Trends Essay INTRODUCTION It seems that every year people turn increasingly toward living their lives through technology. It has inundated society, families, jobs, and lives. Three developing trends that in some ways overlap each other are specifically related to living in a technology world. These trends are particularly important to the school librarian because many students are living their lives through the web. In order to reach those students, the librarian must be knowledgeable about the trends and applications and be able to use and apply them in a library setting. By using them, the librarian makes the library relevant to students, and brings the library to students where the students are. The first trend is social communication...show more content... TREND ONE – SOCIAL COMMUNICATION Social communication is found on the web through blogs, online journaling, emailing, instant messaging, and micro–blogging. People use these applications to track their lives, inform others what they have been doing, make recommendations, rant about an interest, and a variety of other reasons. There is some sort of social communication about virtually every topic under the sun. Blogs, which is short for web–blogs, are essentially a place online where people go to write about their thoughts, ideas, feelings, etc. in their own voice in order to share it with the masses ("Exploring web 2.0 and libraries," 2006). In a blog, someone can respond to the writer with a comment, and then the blogger can post the comment for others to view, or they can delete it. In education or in a library, a blog could be used to share ideas about a topic, recommend books, share thoughts on a book, share news about upcoming events, share information about a past event, etc. (Naslund & Guistini, 2008). Blogs are very applicable to the library setting. It is a place to have conversations about anything. It could become a sort of on–line book club. The blog should invite participation. The more engaged students are, the more likely they are to care about the library ("Technology trends for a 2.0 world," 2007). Some of the more popular blog sites are blogger.com, edublogger.com, and blogsopt.com (Naslund & Guistini, 2008). Micro–blogging is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Argumentative Essay On Climate Change Climate change can be traced down to since the mid–1800s, when the industrial revolution first started taking place all around the world. Lives of human and animal species have been negatively affected since then, with events such as natural disasters, the melting of ice in polar regions, and change in weather and living conditions. Climate change in polar regions, in particular, has faced the most damage compared to any other region because of its location in regard to the sun. Climate change holds many different views and opinions about the effects, and even the existence itself, but evidence is clear and unmistakable in global ramifications and local impact in polar regions. "...Climate change [is] the 'greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people'", skeptics like Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma like to say. Climate change is change in climate patterns due to an increase in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases produced by certain human activity. According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, data taken by satellite has shown that the Arctic cover has decreased by 30% over the past 30 years, and this change, which also include change in sea ice and permafrost, in artic weather and climate is caused by humans. Although numerous scientists have confirmed the legitimacy of climate change, there are different views on whether climate change is real or not. Government officials like Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma or Senator Marco Rubio of Florida have explicitly stated that they do not believe climate change is neither real, nor caused by humans (Tom McCarthy, 2014). On the other hand, mainstream media and other media outlets, such as The Independent and The Economist, have reported their findings of climate change and its legitimacy. The Independent (Conner, S. 2011) reported that records of these changes were taken by military submarines, land measurements, and satellite data to prove ice in polar regions are melting faster and faster. Satellites have tracked sea ice since the 1970s and by nuclear submarines since the Cold War, according to Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University and it was predicted that by September 2015, there would be no more sea ice. (Conner, S. 2011). Luckily, sea ice has not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
