Statement of the Business Problem (System Request Form)
Introduction
Keller College is one of the outstandingcollegein New York City that was started almost a century ago. The college offers outstanding learning, teaching and research on anadequate environment. The campus has all resources, and the classrooms are equipped with today’s technology to place the students in an interactive learning environment.
Moreover, the college has outstanding programs in engineering, education, social sciences, architecture and liberal arts that prepare students for future and produce outstanding leaders in almost all fields. Keller is among the colleges in New York where undergraduates get opportunities to conduct research with qualified professors, publish, and present their research findings.
Moreover, the college offers students with serene environment for learning. The school has plenty of lecturers who teach the students either through online or onsite classrooms. The students are given the possibility of choosing which model works the best for them, and they can also learn through both models.
Additionally, the school has spacious spaces for students to participate in co-curriculum so that they utilize their talents. The students get the opportunity of socialization through clubs. The college enrolls a larger number of students every year, to join the institution purposely to undertake several courses offered by the institution, especially through online platform.
Unfortunately, despite the institution been able to handle all matters through online platforms, the students’ enrollment process seems to be a little long. The prospect students may have to undergo a long process before being admitted to the school.
Business Problem Statement:
The Keller College enrolls the students through a computerized system, where students will either have to go to the campus or be in touch with some school representatives, in order to follow their admission process. Through this computerized method, the students are admitted when they provide all the information needed. The staff entitled for first-year admission record the details of the students.
The present state of the existing student information system as perceived through our research was found to have met the five requirements of quality software, namely: Data Reusability, Data Maintainability, security, usefulness and functionality, and evaluation on the system.
Data Reusability of the existing system seems to be performable, since as a prospective student, who did submitted all required documents in 2013, I was asked again to resubmit documents for my enrollment 2017.

Introduction

Moreover, the college has outstanding programs in

Business Problem Statement:
The Keller College enrolls the students through a computerized

students are admitted when they provide all the information

The present state of the existing student information system as
perceived through our research was found to have met the five

Data Maintainability, security, usefulness and functionality, and
evaluation on the system.
Data Reusability of the existing system seems to be
performable, since as a prospective student, who did submitted
all required documents in 2013, I was asked again to resubmit
documents for my enrollment 2017.
1. With regards to the enrolment procedures and the keeping of
records of students, the existing system is fair from our point of
view.
2. To enhance the effectiveness and performance of the existing
student information system, it is proposed that features such as
statistical students’ data, class performance, and individual
student chart of program evolution be incorporated.
3. The general performance and information of the developed
student information system was found to be “very good” from
our perspective.
4. The developed Student Information System provided greater
satisfaction to the users compared with the existing system with
regards to the delivery of enrolment procedures and keeping of
student information records.
5. Also the transparency through the students finance remains
unsatisfying in our concern. Indeed, the students receive
sometime course tuition fees estimation that will be totally
different what you would have been charged during your actual
program. And, we think the students’ financial estimation
should at least
System Scope Statement:
Keller College of New York has already been enrolling the
students through a computerized way which may have reduce
the cost of building a complete new system. The computerized
system method of enrollment may just need to incorporate some
new features to make student system more performing and more
efficient. Therefore the main aim of this project is to perform
the online registration, the student finance transparency, and
give more view about students’ progression thought their
4. program completion. The online students’ portal should be able
to provide more information about student grade progression;
statistics compare to others students, and the class grade
average.
High-Level Functional Requirements:
The new student portal will enable the institution to carry out
the registration process very easily, and the students will be the
one providing the institution all details needed, and the process
will be very fast, and the financial system will show more
transparency. The system will generate a student portal every
time a student has been accepted and registered to the school.
So the student, will be given a temporary credential, which can
be customized by the student. The information provided in those
portals will directly reflect in institution website and be
recorded.
The instruction will also be able to have a clear and flowing
report concerning the history of each of each student in Keller
College. The institution will give the date when the students
joined, and the day they left.
The online portal will enable the institution to provide the
performance record of the student throughout the course, as
well as a statistical progression about his grades, and the class
average. All the results of each student will be uploaded in the
system, and therefore the student performance can be shared
easily when it is necessary (Ozkan, 2009).
Additionally, the online portal will enable the students to
register for the courses they will undertake easily and thus
making it easy for the professors to identify the courses they are
teaching each student in the institution. The course registration
will be done online after login into student portal, and it can be
done by student himself, or by a school representative. The
course online registration will enable the institution to process
the student's results easily especially during the graduation.
Through online portal, student also can have a total view of the
progression of their finance. Starting from their program
estimation, registration fees, course fees; also they can have
5. access to the financial aid website. At the same time they can
consult the tuition payments, tuition balance, and overall their
financial chart likes the bank statement that a bank provides to
its clients when they login into their online banking.

Description
The students and prospective students will visit Keller college
website and create their own portal using a computer or mobile
phone devices that connect to the internet. The portal will have
different sections which the students will give the details of
what they want. They will log in their details and provide the
information needed to the system and obtain instant feedback.

During the registration, the student will visit the website
provided to them and registration as a new student of the
institution. They provide the registration number when creating
a username and create a strong password. The students will be
using these details whenever they visit their portal.
Student Finance
When the students wish to consult their financial position, they
will login to the system and then select the part of finance
element they want to see. After that, the students can get in
touch with a financial advisor to discuss about any financial
issues. They will be able to apply directly their financial aid
through the online portal by accessing to the financial aid
website. A global chart of student finance will be available to
students, so that will perform the transparency about their
finance.
Business Benefits
Developing the students’ portal for online registration be a big
achievement for the institution because the students will have
the privilege of accessing the services they want without
following cumbersome process.
The institution also track the students’ record through online
7. and too much paper work will longer be used. The school will
record the students’ details online and thus saving the spaces
that could have been occupied the files.
The online registration will make it easy for staffs to deliver
their services easily to each student in the institution.
The students will also inquire anything through the portal and
thus making it easier for them to get feedback instantly.
