1. Evaluation of college magazine
MY product uses some conventions of a magazine, one of which is that uses images with direct
address like a professional magazine does. It also has a masthead on the top of the page like all
magazines do. IT has one main image on the page witch is a standard convention for a magazine.
However it does not include an issue date or barcode like what are normal conventions for a
magazine.
In the contents page it has 3 columns what is a convention to have in a magazine contents however
you can also have 2 or 4 columns. Also in the bottom right it has a page number, this is not a
convention to have for the contents, however I felt like it fitted in. to a normal magazine contents
there are things in there not added to give it that professional look that I think I should of included.
To construct my magazine I used Photoshop, this for me is a completely new piece of media
software and is very tough to understand. However after some time I completed the magazine using
it after some amount of practice. Also to take the picture I used a professional camera and used
proper shots rather than just taking a picture on my phone.
My strengths in the product is that I have followed some conventions to try and make it look
professional, however there could still be more added to give it more of a professional look, which
will come in time when I experience and study more magazines and get used to using Photoshop
more as at this time I find it hard to do so. Another weakness would be for my image as I don’t know
how to get that perfect shot yet, and then take it onto the computer and edit it to give it a better
more professional look.
