Analysing a music video
 Eminem – Like Toy Soldiers:
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lexLAjh8fPA&feature=related
 The music video opens with a two shot of two little children playing with their
toys, there is then some dialogue where one of the boys suggests they do
something else as he is bored, during the dialogue there is a lullaby tune being
played over the top. The two shot shows the relationship between the two boys
as they must be friends. It then quickly cuts to the pages in the book where on
one page is a picture of Eminem, the camera then zooms into the picture where
there is a little flash and the story the boys are reading comes true. There is
then a jump cut which jumps to a mid-shot of Eminem. You can see from what
he is wearing and the fact it’s covered in blood something bad must have
happened. Suddenly it cuts to an over the shoulder shot which shows one of his
friends on a hospital bed with nurses trying to get him back to life. Shot
reverse shots are used between Eminem and his friend this emphasises the
close relationship they had. By Eminem’s NVC we can establish his anger and
frustration of this situation as he violently throws equipment off of a table and
purposely bangs his head on a chair. A fade is then used to show the transition
of him being at the hospital to the present with him rapping the chorus. This
shot suggests the previous scenes were a past memory and he’s looking back
    on a painful memory.
Examples of camera shots used to
    give the desired effect
 The right camera shots can be essential to a
  music
 Hoodie Allen- No Interruptions

 LMFAO- Party Rock Anthem
Locations
 Location 1:
Due to the fact that James’ mum works at Stapleford Airfield we have
been given permission to use their airfield and some of the planes. We
felt this location would be good as the song is all about Hoodie doing
well in school and getting somewhere in life, whereas other people
didn’t. If we used an airfield it will emphasize the fact that he has done
well in life.
Location 2:
Another location we have chosen is on James’ boat.
We believe this is an ideal location as its different
no one has filmed on a boat before, it again
emphasizes the fact that he has done well in life.
As we drive it will be easy to access.
Locations
 Location 3:
James’ Auntie lives in a mansion and has allowed us to use it as a
location. The mansion will be good, as personally when I think of
someone that has done well in life and succeeded at what they do, they
mainly live in a nice big house and this could be a perfect example of
this.
 Location 4:
Another location that we had in mind was
Olly’s dads house. This could be used as well
as James’ Aunties house or use either one.
These locations are just a few ideas that we
have but we plan on using a lot more.
