Question 5
1. How did you attract/address
your audience?
Charlee Fear
2. Cover Page
I think that my cover page would appeal to my audience as the title 'Graffiti' stands out
because of the white text on the red label sticks out to anyone's eye, plus it is
mainstream in magazines in general. The title name will attract them as graffiti is seen
to be an aspect of 'Chav' which is the unconventional Hip-Hop audience member. Another
reason why it could appeal to my audience is that there is artist names that are included
as the sell lines and also at the top of the mast head which will make the audience look
at what is featured in the magazine and if their favourite artists are there. I tried to
use as many mainstream artists as I could as most of the audience only listen to
mainstream artists. The model known as 'Ayrton Hedges' is an unconventional artist, which
could be bad for catching the eye, but because I have made the anchor text' Ayrton Hedges'
it sticks out massively so that the person looking at the magazine might see who it is and
recall the name. The cocky quote fits the ego that most Hip-Hop artists have and will make
most of the audience start to either hate him, or love him because of it which makes the
reader want to buy the magazine just for the article. The colour scheme fits the colour
scheme that I got from my audience profile which means that most of the audience who would
buy the magazine, would be happy with the style and look of the cover. The clothing of the
artist represents the fusion of the social groups 'Hypebeast' and 'New Casual', which is
perfect for a Hip-Hop magazine.

4. Contents page
I think that my contents page would appeal to my audience as, just like the
cover, there is a huge red label with clear white text which will catch the
eye of the reader. Another thing I have done is put the title from the cover
page, at a vertical angle on the red label as a trademark and it looks
professional. Another appealing thing is that it looks easy to read as the
text colour with the background works well as I have used stroke on the text.
The red splitters allow the reader to read the magazine knowing when one
subheading ends and another one begins, once again looking more professional.
The artist in the shot appeal to the audience as the brand 'Monster Energy' is
shown, which is a stereotypical drink that people of Hip-Hop culture drink as
they are apparently 'rebels of society'. Unlike the cover page photo, there is
only a hoodie on which follows the mainstream style of Hip-Hop.

6. Double-Page Spread
I think that my double page spread would appeal to my audience as I have, once
again, used red labels but it also shows that it has followed a specific
colour scheme which appeals to some people. It is easy to read, and people who
say flick through the magazine trying to find the article can see the style of
the contents and cover and know that the article is located there. The look of
the magazine looks like a comic in a sense, like it has been drawn which could
link to the Hip-Hop audience as the graffiti that they usually do is comical.
The article is easy to read, is minimalistic so that it isn't too much to
handle. The photos correlate together as I told both models to do the same
pose, which makes it look like the same photo which was the effect I was going
for.

8. Additional Information
I also attracted and addressed my audience by using the questionnaire I did
some time ago whilst I was doing my research and drafts. The questions I put
in the questionnaire were specific questions so that the results I was given
would guide me to create the perfect magazine for the genre. I asked questions
like ‘What would be the best colour pallet for a hip-hop magazine’ and took
the results from which the people regularly read hip-hop magazines as these
are the type of audience I would want for my magazine. The whole questionnaire
helped me whilst creating the magazine and has made my final product what it
is now.
